Dragoon82
I have the same problem today, a mate has installed Vista Ultimate for me, and mentioned that he'd put Windows 7 on here too. How do I go about getting rid of Windows 7, it's not the OS surely?
Gtamacca
I have the same problem today, a mate has installed Vista Ultimate for me, and mentioned that he'd put Windows 7 on here too. How do I go about getting rid of Windows 7, it's not the OS surely? You could try using a partition program like *partition magic* and then removing it that way...Then to gain that partition which had Win7 on, just accumilate the left over space. Dragoon82
My mate has just said that Vista Ultimate IS Windows 7, but I thought Windows 7 was the next OS that Microsoft were bringing out soon? If that is the case, how come my Vista is thowing up the compatibility issue? It's designed for Vista...
Dragoon82
Think I've sorted it now, as per Timhoofd122's post about running the install .exe as XP, it's now installing at least, here's hoping it goes all the way!
Drag_Drift
Don't forget to switch the compatibility mode of Launchgtaiv.exe to windows 2000 mode when it's done installing. Happy gaming.
Pixelated
It works. I'm playing it on Windows 7 without issue. To install it you have to set the Setup.exe to "Windows XP SP2" compatibility mode. I will install fine then.
NSX
Yup, to install use Windows XP compatibility and after that's done you manually have to install GFWL and then set compatibility to Windows 2000 for the LaunchGTA.exe or just grab a Suckurom bypasser of 27kb, works like a charm. Get your savegame data from previous install, keep your manual close by for the serial, and save after reaching 'the mansion' Exit the game and copy+overwrite the 2 files from your previous save into the newly created folder in Appdata/rockstar games/savegames After that trouble it's all joy

That means .net Framework, MS Visual C++, DirectX, GFWL, RGSC, etc.. If I tried to install it without doing that most would install but they would take FOREVER. Like 30min to install GFWL or .net Framework. I looked at the Windows 7 resource monitor and it was working but it was copying files at like a few hundred bytes a second. Now setting just about any program to WinXP SP2 works. I even got the latest version of Diskeeper to work on Windows 7.
