I think i found the way to export my clips so it would come out in the best looking on youtube.

Just need someone to confirm it works please.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RubaJkKpMg8

Thing is that my other older videos already show in higher quality and play like that from the start but this new one plays in standard quality but has a "Watch In HD" option to the lower right.

Already have in my My Account > Playback Setup set to "I have a fast connection. Always play higher-quality video when it's available."

Guess its a much higher def clip but since i have my account settings different just want to know if it can show in HD for anyone else.

You understood my post? Im not asking if that old trick works.

Im asking if you or anyone can see the "Watch In HD" link below the video screen because this is a 720HD video upload.

Recently (late 08) youtube added an HD feature to it's site.

Just want to know if my latest GTA4 clip is running in HD when you click on the "Watch In HD" link.

I ask this because the video is showing as standard by default but i have my account settings set to play all in HD.

Though this clip is much higher in definition so i must click on the "Watch In HD" link.

Thats why im asking here if anyone can see it in HD when they click they link.

Ide like to upload some more stuff.

Yes we can see. I read from somewhere that You can actually force it to go automatically to the HD resolution for viewers, so that they don´t have to click the "view In HD".

If you add...

&fmt=18

... to the end of the link then it goes straight to the HD version if available.

The HD Versions are 720p (1280x720) widescreen.

And yes, HD works on your vid.

Cool thanks.

Also, &fmt=22 shows even higher def.

In my vid you can see the difference between 18 and 22

HD on You Tube? contradictory in my humble opinion, the noticeable change from those with average hardware is a now widescreen mini-inset screen, where the normal black bars AKA Letterboxing format the video you upload in the YT site's 16:9 aspect display, the uploaded content in mostly glorious mono sound, and 10 minutes in length.

If you upload, you are aware the content for a supposed HD video digital source means the size of the file can now be 1GB IIRC.

1000MegaBytes, but still within a 10 minute mandate, if however, you are lucky enough to get a Director status, length can be longer as well as audio in stereo.

The trick I heard for normal blokes is to add about 2 minutes of blank vid signal to the end of your clip, the main portion that plays first will look much better.

My tactic was recording to my analog Sony TRV99 camcorder, the 4 inch LCD model Sony capped their line with, then hook it to my computer to capture. You can see the results of that on YouTube, I have at least two clips up, the first being a shoot out in Broker where Roman's depot formerly is.

It's a short clip with no frame buffer tacked on, still looks good to me, let me know if you see that, if it looks marginally better. I tagged it for comparison between PS3 and PC (3D graphics, etc.)

It's SPEED RACER

Seriously though, YouTube needs to keep fine tuning, no doubt if you've read the news about Google and YT, they'd been meaning to add full length TV content like other streaming services... So times would certainly be up to an hour or so with their own material supplied.

I think the 10 minute limit MUST change to at least 15 minutes in length. I have artists who jam on songs longer then 10 minutes and to split that up is a travesty!

I don't monitor all YouTube clips with headphones, but plenty are still in mono audio, whereas, you can upload GTA over at LiveVideo and it will ALWAYS be in stereo and it will not get pulled because they aren't monitoring GTA clips over there! biggrin.gif

...because they already were in mono when they were uploaded.

I just uploaded

video. The thing is, I recorded it in 720p, but YouTube only shows it in standard quality. Anybody know why?

Give it time, it takes a while for it to appear.
