GTA IV multiplayer woes

need help please. most of the time when i get into a multiplayer game, i get disconnected from windows live. after i close the game, my computer appears to be online, but i have to restart the machine to get back online. is there a fix for this?

 

window vista ultimate

athlon phenome triple core 2.4 G

ATI hd 2400 pro 256 Mb

4 Gb ram

 

i understand my GPU ram is a little lacking, which would result in a "computer is running too slowly" error, but why does my machine also require a restart to get back online. i have a fast cable connection, also.

 

any ideas?
