Engioc
GTA4 is a great game, as good as SA, but not sure I would say its necessarily better, depends what you like about a GTA but for me I rate them at an equal. Not really looking at graphics or sound. GTA4 is great cause: *I love the new damage model for vehicles, love the wheel spin and realism of them now too. Feels weird going back to older GTAs and the way the cars used to handle *City is great, its certainly big and loads of places to go in it *Phone is a real + *New activities are something I've enjoyed bowling, darts, drinking etc *Friends rather than just dating and with new activities more interesting things to do on dates anyway *Racing as always is good *New way police and stars work, a bit easy to lose them on a 1 star rating but it does seem more realistic *Being able to catch a cab/taxi, and the cable car *Multiplayer *Not being forced to eat all the time *Autosave makes it easier to keep going after each mission without worrying about failing next mission **Edit** Forgot one real +, his ability to hide and shoot, using weapons in GTA4 is way better than before Things I miss from previous GTAs: *Trucking *Police on motor bikes, would of hoped to see more types of cops rather than less (eg mounted police, then steal their horse, specially around parks. I guess they dont want us killing animals but I dont see it as any worse than any other part of this game) *Country areas *Off road racing *Flying planes *Sky diving/parachute jumps *Driving trains *Taxi missions always available *Weather was more diverse eg snow up on mountains, dust storms, rain, fog (I think most games fail to have weather that is realistic in any way, it rains way too often, why does nobody create a more realistic weather model so there are seasons and less rain during summer, more rain or even snow during winter etc, maybe even rain in some parts of the world/city and not in others. Some times here in AU we can go without rain for weeks, I know its not the same everywhere but I still think most games it rains more than in real life, almost every day or two it rains, why?? anyway sorry starting to complain now) *Buying houses, not enough things to spend all that money on, need more big ticket items to buy (not cars cause nobody buys a car in GTA) *Garage to store cars instead of parking my Infernus out on the street, not even places like PBX had a garage *Car modding Well I think thats about all. I hope to see all these things return in future GTAs and I guess till then it gives me many reason to keep playing GTA SA. Jvcxpc-30
I think it would be awsome if the weather included a tornado but it would only happen like once every 10 game days so as not to get annoying. Liberty city is pretty flat. And it never snowed in SA.
scotland4life
Yeah Jvcxpc-30 is right: it never snowed in San Andreas. But yeah, I agree that there isn't enough things to use money on, which is a bastard. The next big step GTA should take is, like you essentially said, a diverse weather system. Far Cry 2's is quite good, but far from perfect. Snow would be incredibly fun to drive about in. I hope in the next GTA, there is more open-space to just drive about in, without having to worry about a car coming round the corner.

I think SA was much better, but without the updated graphics. i think rockstar got a little weak with 4. The pigeons and a few other meaningless missions are a waste. Stunt jumps and assassin missions were fun for me. I like the vehicles, wish we had a beetr choice of weapons, use of cash, activities are fun at first, but get boring over time. I hope R* read this because I certainly hope they implement some (if not, all) of the things that are missed out, into the next GTA.
mr_bungle
Well, New York/Liberty City whatever, since its a high-rise city, and has alot of apartments etc, theres not enough room to put garages in. Anyway, if you want to park a car in a garage. Go around Alderney, alot of houses there have openable garages.
Und3r5c0r3
above post Didn't you just contradict yourself? "There's no room for garages in Liberty City. In Alderney, a lot of houses have garages." If they made it so we could buy some of those houses that have garages, then they could make the garages usable. Yes, there's openable garages in the game, but I'm pretty sure that if you park a car in them and then leave, the car will be gone next time you go back to that garage, correct? We need a garage that saves the cars.

He has a point, he said not in Liberty City, Alderny is not part of Liberty City, it is referred to as the independent state of Alderny in the game. And that is incorrect. Obviously you have never been to NYC in your life if you think there are no garages. Most apartment buildings have a large garage near it that you have the key to 1 or 2 individual doors and put your car there. There are also low garages at townhouses. AH right, I always get Alderney confused with Algonquin.

Liberty city is pretty flat. And it never snowed in SA. I know it never snowed in SA, but there was at least an area on the map where there was snow on ground, Mt Chilliad had snow. I am not simply complaining about GTA4, just about all games in general with that statement, weather is so dull and standard in games at the moment, the only ever come up with the same thing, sunny, raining. I know GTA4 and different levels of rain, but its still just rain.

Exactly, even if you dont have your own private garage in NYC I still would of thought there would be a private carpark for residents, maybe under the building or something, and if your rich and had a place like PBX why wouldn't you have your own garage? why risk putting your expensive stolen car on the street where other cars sometimes do smash in to it? plus the houses meant I could have a lot of cars and bikes stashed all over SA, I had at least one of every car and bike I liked. That's not really possible with LC, parking is on street and in limited supply. The cars and bikes look so great in GTA4 but yet there are so few places to keep them all your forced to make a choice between which ones to keep and which ones to keep jacking when you want one. At the moment I've kept the Infernus from Bernie, Turismo, Comet from Brucie & friend, Super GT, Coquette, Banshee, Sabre GT, Sentinel, Dukes, Sultan RS There are a few other cars and bikes I'd like to keep for when I want to mess around in one but I've already used all the parking spots up. affley
everyone misses the country areas, we want rockstar to realise that every gta dosent have to be set in a city i friggin hate citys, i hope the next gta dosent even have a city
Rewdalf
I just want to say... All previous GTAs were missing one big huge giant thing that they desperately needed GTA IV filled that gap BUT at the cost of all of our fun and nice features that made previous GTAs fun. It's the damage and physics engine. Sure the other GTAs had decent physics, but their damage consisted of bent bumpers (In all the wrong places) scratched doors and broken windows. Didn't make it feel real at all. Here we have even the tiniest contact creating a microscopic scratch, and a good excuse to channel some road rage... Still, I liked car customization, tanks, wacky vehicles, and of course planes.

I like the contrast of city and country, spending time hooning around the cities, then going for a bash through the countryside, off roading around the desert area and doing some jumps off cliffs, taking a sanchez or even the old camper van, or NRG down the steepest slope I could find off mt chilliad. SA was great because could do all this and a lot of stuff through the streets of cities too. SA had everything and its a shame GTA4 is missing a lot of this, I understand its because its new, its just one city etc, but its also why I dont believe its better than SA, just equal. As for getting Saints Row 2, I will be getting that soon as the PC version is out and I have the cash to buy it.
