Get over it, the Itallian Mafia is the biggest crime syndicate in america,so to speak, so obviously going to play a big part in the games. Also, San Andreas had hardly any Mafia in it. SA had them briefly featured and that was enough, VC, III and LCS were all around the mob and it's stupid history. They're present in almost every American city across the United States. It only makes sense that they appear in Grand Theft Auto; though I do agree, they are getting a bit tiresome now-a-days. I don't mind them being in the game, but I don't want them making a large appearance. I thought Grand Theft Auto IV was going to be different, but I was sadly mistaken. There are lots of other criminal empires for Rockstar to exploit. The Russian Mafia, The Yakuza, Triads, Yardies etc. I know we've seen all of them before, but there hasn't really been a gang we haven't seen in GTA so far. Though there's more to the Mafia than just Italians. I hope R* further explore the Russian, and Irish Mafias in future. Anyway GTA got me into movies like Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, Casino, The Godfather etc because of the inclusion of the Italian Mafia, and as a result I'm a huge fan of those type of movies. Some people may not like them, but I feel they deserve the most presence in a GTA game due to their history, but like someone else said it's got alot to do with location. I mean you can't have a crime game based in New York, Las Vegas, Chicago etc, and not include the Italian Mafia. Everyone has their own tastes, but out of all the criminals in GTA I always rank Mafioso above every other criminal. Besides out of all the GTA games I feel only in GTA III, and LCS they had a major role. In others they felt secondary.
