The school must serve up one hell of a breakfast.

Yeah by the sounds of it he wasnt getting meals at home, so its probably right to take the kid away. There kid should be there number one priority.

I don't know whether to call him a nerd or a badass.

He wanted to get there for food and gym class. They might have been playing dodgeball in gym class and maybe he wanted to pelt kids in the face with a ball. Plus he's 6 and plays Grand Theft Auto and gets inspired by it to get behind the f*cking wheel. I'd say badass.

His parents, Jacqulyn Deana Waltman, 26, and David Eugene Dodson, 40,

Wow.

If the bus was viewable from the house, the mother should have watched him go. If it wasn't, then she needs to drive him to the bus stop next time.

Yeah I noticed that to.

And I agree, seriously, the kids six. Make sure your kid makes it on the bus for gods sake.

So she was 20 when the dad was 34. Its just kinda weird to think about considering she was my age at that time.

Pathetic

its pathetic to call people pathetic for their beliefs.

That only applies if their beliefs are valid and logical.

Unless those beliefs are really stupid and not applicable to the situation at all.

Gotta give this kid some props, man. sh*t, the kid took the keys, knew how to start up the car, knew what to press on the car and all that, and all for wanting to go to school. I don't know about you guys, but this kid deserves a damned medal.

I bet you that the shifts, gears, pedals, and steering wheel in the car were replaced with a Dualshock 3 controller and when he crashed the controller vibrated violently.

That's what I want to do, learn to control a vehicle with a video game controller. How awesome would it be to drive with a R2 button?

That's funny, but seriously, who would let their six year old play GTA? I bet his parents were so stupid, the kid was yelling "die cops die!" and the parents were like, "awww, isn't that sweet? listen to how much fun he's having"

Who f*cking cares, I've been playing violent video games since I was a little kid, and I turned out alright. You make it seem like these parents are abusive or something, I wonder how many little kids who've played GTA don't go for a joyride.

Royal criminal is that pedobear in your sig and avatar?

On topic: if the kid actually made it to school parked correctly and got out of the car the girls in his grade would be all over him and i would be lauging my brains out lol.gif

Exactly. As I said earlier, I don't know why people are bitching about this. Who actually cares if his parents let him play GTA?

Hey the guy wanted to get to school and wanted to learn biggrin.gif How the hell did a 6 year old get to do that anyway im sure a few lawyers and PC people will have a feild day with this especially as the kid mentioned GTA.

Why oh why are the parents getting blamed?

Fair enough, it's a been strange that the mum was asleep and not taking the boys to school, but I hardly think that warrants her children being taken away or prosecution.

When I was younger, my siblings and I got ourselves up and ready for school. My sister got the bus herself and my dad came home and picked up me and my brother.

If my dad was late or my sister missed her bus we would definately not attempt to drive ourselves, because we knew that it would cause us to die.

That is so ridiculous.

It's just a situation that was less than ideal, involving a child who is an idiot. Although I'm very glad he didn't die.

Poor parents. And as if its their fault for letting him play GTA. I know that a lot of people have played games or watched films that were certified for an older audience. And I think very few of them have ever as Mike Tequeli said, gone for a joyride. Who's parents actually care about age certificates?

I say again, idiot child.

Whether you were able to get to school on your own or not is irrevelant, IMO. Either way, I think parents should at least be awake or conscious while thier YOUNG (u-10) children are awake in their home. It just too dangerous nowadays. Now I dont necessarily think her children should be stripped away for this - but the fact that a 6 year old has access to GTA is just plain negligent. That boy isnt an idiot, he's naive - as all 6 year olds are. That said, its the parents duty to make sure that he or any other child isnt in a position to hurt themselves.

As far as the age requirements on games, i repect your opinion, but I totally disagree. And as a father to be (May 11th, boy, my first) I am already looking for way to childproof my home, and filtering what makes it into his mind too early. Which includes putting up my sharp objects, deleting most of my porn, and all my T and M games go into my office, where he wont even SEE them till I make the judgement that he's old enough to handle them.

Children are only as stupid as you allow them to be.

I bet they're more of those WoW addicted parents tounge.gif

I already knew how to drive a manual at age 8, sure it was only on a game, but it had the clutch, gas, gear lever, everything. I could have taken my dad's car for a ride anytime at that age then. Not only that, but I played Grand Theft Auto and Gran Turismo. Guess I just wasn't as determined to get to school.

Smart kid though, guess he thought he should take matters into his own hands. Wonder what the reaction had been if he made it to school.

How did a six year old get GTA and the Monster Jam game. They both are violent and are not for six year olds. (GTA = M Monster Jam = T)

When I was playing GTA my little brother would usually drive the cars around and do his random things. ( He didn't really know about the pretty bad stuff like prostitutes) He was probably around 8 or 9 at the time.

Parents should usually research games if they're letting anyone under 10 play Mature games. Just for the sakes of them getting scared out of their pants, example: Silent Hill, Suffering, Resident Evil. But most mature games are alright, as long are people are comfortable with their kids hearing cuss words all the time.

But that's the thing. They AREN'T supposed to hear them like that. I suppose your going to punish your child after he curses because he heard it in a game you let him play because you think its harmless? Same goes for movies, music, etc...

I'm not for censoring kids altogether, but you cant say that these kids are so stupid and out of control when its we as parents who are failing to reel them in and treat them as, well, children. Kids are getting treated like pets nowadays. We dont give them boundaries until they sh*t on our couch a few times (Figuratively speaking, of course...).

Deathly Visage

Yeah this was in the news even in this country, I lawled at the point they said that he was driving with his head out of the window.

C'mon, what child likes school that f*cking muchj???

Of course you punish your child for cursing, even if they heard it in a game that you let them play. Because if they don't hear it in an 18+ game, they'll hear it in the street, or on tv, or they'll might hear it from you. It doesn't matter how they heard it, they still shouldn't say it and they have to learn that other people doing things doesn't make it right. It's about learning boundaries and respect. (I sound like a teacher, apologies.)

Okay maybe punishing would be a bit over stepped, but you shouldn't let them away with it.

And I agree when I have children, the house will be child proof and everything else. But (again, I know using myself as an example is a bit irrelevant. But it's just an example) my parents censored me from everything, and it made me a rebellious, out-of-line brat. Whenever they said 'do whatever you want', I calmed down and was a bit more respectful.

So if my child comes to me at 6 and says, 'mummy, there's a new game out and everyone else has it and I want it.' I'll say 'fair enough, but buy it yourself.'
