orbital45
okay, overall my game runs fine but it seems you cannot get it past 23 fps when in moderate action. inside buildings it goes up to 60 but outside driving sometimes makes only 17 fps but that's rare. avg. is 22 fps which is bad for my experience. I have 660 mhz 512 MB R4850 which runs smoothly every single time: crysis warhead 70 fps/50 full action; race 07 crazy 120 fps and the more you floor the car the more frames it pukes out. cod4 runs smoothly 40 fps avg (I think it's the limiter). and somehow my graphics setting won't save. I have to set them (decrease them to get a playable framerate for me) a bit lower of course and I'm curious why..... I know most people don't bother and sometimes don't even know they might be getting 10 fps, but as long as it is moving they'll play it. and also I have the patch installed. any help or suggestion appreciated amd x2 64 5600+ 3 GB RAM winxp using fraps, directx 9.0c everything should run a bit smoother. I'm not expecting max performance but 35 fps would be something I would be satisfied with. and I'm not dull for computers... I just wanna know if anyone is experiencing the same...it'd be (probably already is) absolutely absurd if the textures are beefed up just for the sake of gaming&hardware developing conglomerates... FRAGEYE
Have you tried various drivers for your card ? Have you overclocked your cpu or gpu ? orbital45
drivers are good, i have studied the whole case of R4850 problems, I am saying I am very experienced computer user, but anyway... tried three separate releases even the ati hotfix, amd's cpu dual-core optimizer is installed, cpu is not oc'd, gpu is 625 -> 660 mhz oc'd runs smooth, I even have better cooling that most of R4850 have. some of the companions on other forum pointed out the same thing with the same graphics card. also people having 8800's said that framerate is kind of bad but overall the picture is smooth. my experiences are identical. but people running 1 GB cards say it works fine but never pointed out the framerate as we did ... so honestly tell me what framerates are you getting in GTA IV with what GPU and CPU. and graphics memory of course Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/390668-4850-a-bit-lower-fps-and-lots-of-confusion/#findComment-1058853179 Share on other sites
