Anyone fix this yet?

Recommended Posts

Ive been roaming around the forum for weeks now trying to figure out how to get rid of my this damn APPCRASH issue. Ive tried damn near everything, Ive re-installed a few times, got all the new drivers etc...The patch all that, Microsoft Net Framwork 3.5 etc.. updated my C++ and Flash and JAVA.

when the game lets me play it it runs great. no texture issues or anything, but And im not joking here, I have clicked the icon probably 1000 Times over the past few weeks, I have less than 2 hours of game play, 99.9% of the time the APPCRASH occurs before I can even get into the game, but it doesent seem to have a set time or anything. Ive tried multiple Command line things, it seems to last a tiny bit longer if im in 640x480 but either way it freezes 5 min in at BEST. After of course clicking icon maybe 10 times before it even lets me get to the start menu. Below is a pic of the Issue, its always that same APPCRASH eroor, the Stackhash_0bcd. every time.

My Specs

Q9550 2.83ghz 12mb L2 cache 1333FSB 64 bit.

Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium Service Pack 1

x2 Nvidia Geforce 9500GT 1GB 16x PCI-E

ASUS p5N-D nForce 750 SLi chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2

Nope, same Stackhash_0bcd crashes at random times, I think the most I ever got to play was around 20 mins before it gave me one.

But no alas, same as before, the patch did nothing. Should I return this game? I mean, I just dont get it, my other GTA's run fine, I hell I can play Crysis Warhead on almost full settings without an issue ever. Its really frustrating, why bother paying 60 bucks for this? sh*t Ive put in at least 60 dollars worth of tech support trying to get this to work. Should I keep it in the hopes that the second patch will fix my problem?

Wait until 15 past the hour, and then try again.

Sorry for double post. But no waiting 15 minutes did not work. So, no one has any ideas besides that? no one else is having this problem? Ive done everything 3 times now. nothing has changed.(Re-install etc..)

Anybody have any idea what this error relates too? I rad up on some Vista forums that it has to do with JAVA when it happens in I.E. But this is the only game it does this to me. plus I cant find anything about the Stackhash_0bcd one. just others mostly dealing with I.E

Here are a few suggestions that may or may not help, not familiar with the error though, I'm just going by what has worked for myself and others.

Make sure there is only one instance of the C++ refdist x64 in add/remove programs, if there are two, uninstall the older one.

If you have FFDshow codec, add gtaIV to exceptions.

If using independence FM, make sure that your MP3s aren't sitting on bad clusters.

Same goes for msdia80.dll which is a part of the C++ redist and seems to end up in the route directory of random drives.

No guarantee those things will help but they might be worth a shot...

Thank your for the suggestion, I will try that now.

Should I also delete the NET Framework 1.1 as well? being that the 3.5 one is there.

Edit: I also tried this, someone posted on GTAStunting.net

this may work for you also: (source: http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/t/699.aspx?PageIndex=2)

Had same error. Solution found in different topic:

1.) press Start -> Run. Type in CMD and press OK, you'll get a command prompt window.

2.) type " netsh winsock reset " (without the " ) and press enter.

3.) REBOOT YOUR PC

4.) again press Start -> Run. Type in CMD and press OK, you'll get a command prompt window.

5.) type " netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt " (without the ")

6.) REBOOT YOUR PC

7.) Start GTA IV and log into your online account!

It worked in my case.

few problems as I am using rooter reseting all will lead to loosing static ip adress (changed for dynamic). Easy to fix though.

And it looks that going online messing up with textures in game (have no clue how). Same settings and offline is fine and online look dogy sometimes. I noticed solution somwhere in different topic, will try it later.

Hope it helped .

lost my offilne profile (30%) and needed to start all over again but it is like god news for me:)

It kinda worked for me, I now can get past the intro more often than not and intro the game, but it still freezes short into playing.
