Fabio206
Thanks for the save games! In every GTA I've played, there's always at least ONE mission I can't complete no matter how hard I try. It gets quite boring. One question though, where are the save games? I know this has been addressed and I've looked in Rockstar Gesm/GTA IV, but the only folders there are "User Music" and "Videos". I enabled "Show hidden files and folders" and even "Show hidden system files" and it's still not there. In the savegames directory into: XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\ Vista: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\

You need to use one of the following two methods to get the saves to work: • http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=388658 • http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=386320

Do I create a new folder in the savegames directory or what? Please help! I'm confused! SGTA4xx is the name of the savefile. xx stands for the slot in which you want the save to be. It ranges from 00 to 12. You need to place the file along with your other savefiles. You can find your savefiles in the following locations: Windows XP = C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\ Windows Vista = C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames

You don't have to necessarily replace anything in there. You can rename the savefile by changing the last two digits. If you already have a savefile named SGTA400, then you can rename the downloaded savefile to SGTA401 or SGTA402 or SGTA403 and so on, whichever slot is free. This way you can use the downloaded save without having to lose any of your own saves.
nfshp253
it still doesn't work! I put the SGTA400 into the user_xxxxxx folder and start the game, but still loads up my old savegame!
Girish
it still doesn't work! I put the SGTA400 into the user_xxxxxx folder and start the game, but still loads up my old savegame! Tried loading it manually? Start the game, hit Escape > Game > Load > Select the desired save. Renaming it and putting it in some other slot might be a good idea if it still doesn't work. Girish
renamed it but still cannot load from pause menu. No savegame found for slot 7. I renamed the file SGTA407 If you've renamed the savefile to 'SGTA407', then the save will be present in the 8th slot, not in the 7th slot. Remember that the save numbering starts from 00, not 01. hitman1303
Try: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames [Vista] C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames [XP] You'll need to show hidden files. Is that the only location you need to put the save game in. I downloaded one of your save game points at around 50%. I see its zipped so must I unzip it and where do I put it and can I still play multiplayer.

Inside the savegames folder, there will be another folder that starts with 'user' and ends in a string of numbers. Inside this folder, you'll find all of your savegames. That's where you should be putting the downloaded savegame. And no, you cannot play multiplayer with this save because you'll have to use xlive.dll in order to load this save. Xlive disables multiplayer.

Are you using xliveless by listener? If so, then it changes the default location of the savegames folder. Your savegames will now be located in; (for Windows Vista): %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\ (for Windows XP): %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\ If you're using the xlive.dll by Rick, then Windows XP = C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\ Windows Vista = C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames Search for files named 'SGTA4xx'. The xx ranges from 00 to 11 and stands for the 12 slots in which you can possibly save your game. There is another slot at the very end which is the autosave slot.
