Cars are MODABLE in GTA IV!

I was surfing in my GTA IV game folders and found this:

 

X:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\models\cdimages\VEHICLES.img

This means, that this is the file, what contains all cars in GTA IV. But this is not the only thing we need. The only problem who stops us modding cars is, that GTA IV uses something new for how the car gets damaged (the WFT and WTD formats). If we solve this (I'm sure we will), cars will be modable in GTA IV!

You can open this image archive with SparkIV

 

I hope we can mod our cars in GTA IV soon...

The litttle problem is to open this image archive. That's no problem i think. (Don't try IMG Tool or Spark from GTA:SA modding biggrin.gif. It doesn't work xD)

Textures can be replaced at the moment, and in time models will hopefully be able to be extracted, along with a 3DS Max importer.

 

There's a Spark tool for IV now, along with the OpenIV project.

yes..this is quite old...youre right..you can't use spark tool..but there's a new version of spark on gta4.net that can edit textures..so let's hope it can do the same for dmg of vehicles soon biggrin.gif

its even possible to import gtaIV models into 3dsmax. with filter or with 3D ripper.

its just not possible yet to import new models or edited models into gtaiv back again. but i think it will not take much time anymore
