Kuldahar
I don't get the money thing? after 10 grand or so, why do you need it? You can get all the ammo/guns you need in missions, and you can steal the cars? It would be nice if you could save up to buy things such as real estate, non stealable cars, etc. Am I missing something? Aquaphonic
Absolutely nothing...or is that war? Seriously though, you're right there's not much to buy in IV. At least you had the safehouses in San An and the ability to buy and modify cars. Although there was no point in actually buying cars (from the docks) as you could just steal most of them anyway. deathstar2Razor
Well, in GTA IV there is obviously a bit too much money that is... thrown onto the player. In San Andreas, I spend much money for clothes and houses/garages. But there is no such thing as real estate for Niko, and clothes... well, I bought a new jacket and a suit. Those russian clothes look ugly. I haven't even finished 40% of the game and already got half a million $ on my account. There are not many possibilities to spend money, that's true... would be cool if there were. tinkerbell32
Yeah, I asked myself the same question. There are a lot of ATMs in the city, but nothing to do with it. I haven't finished the game yet, so I don't do multiplayer: do you need money to buy weapons there? Getting the feeling GTA4 is not that great Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/389682-what-is-money-good-for/#findComment-1058838073 Share on other sites

Getting the feeling GTA4 is not that great ATMs can be used... they display your current amount of cash. ...so what you can see all the time at the top of your monitor And you do not need cash in MP to buy weapons... they are lying around everywhere. You do get cash if you kill someone, but that is just the point-system (certain amount = victory). Aquaphonic
One thing I have noticed is that when you get busted or get wasted the costs for bribes and hospital visits seem to be higher than in previous GTAs (don't quote me on that). And yes, you need money to buy guns, but I've only ever needed to buy body-armour as the missions have provided me with lots of weps. (I'll quote you so hard... >.>) You do not have to pay for getting busted anymore, the cops will just take away your weapons. If you die, you have to pay... 10% (?) of your total money, until you reached a certain cap, I think 20k $. The first time I got busted a message told me that "The officers will strip you of your weapons and take some of your cash as a bribe". Not sure how much though. It's probably percentages though as you suggested. Maybe in the past they used fixed amounts? EDIT: Just tested it by getting two stars then being busted. Didn't lose a penny Edited January 2, 2009 by Aquaphonic Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/389682-what-is-money-good-for/#findComment-1058838140 Share on other sites
exxczyk
I was just wondering that yesterday after finishing one of the missions that has a 250K payoff. Great, tons of cash... now what? That really sucks that there's nothing to do with it. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/389682-what-is-money-good-for/#findComment-1058838154 Share on other sites

I had about 250,000 got wasted a few times and then i was down to 60,000. tinkerbell32
Yeah, I knew about the ATMs giving you your balance, but I don't include that in "doing something useful". I just saw there's an "windows live point" thingy where you have to have $500.000 to get it. So I suppose that's one reason to collect a lot of money. Man, I also found out those points do nothing. What happened to the GTA game ? In the other games, if you did some crazy stuff you at least got some weapons in your home of you could run faster. The only new thing I can come up with right now is when you date your friends and girlfriends you get some help from them by calling them. There's even less in GTA4 than there was in the previous ones. But take care, police-cars love to patrol these areas. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/389682-what-is-money-good-for/#findComment-1058842365 Share on other sites
