The Next Big Step.

The next step, imo, is for your character to have absolute control and responsibility over his actions. Killing off someone you don't like, perhaps a Mafia boss, alters the game. There would be so many branches and possibilities that each storyline a person plays would be completely unique. You might work for an organization and be approached by someone else to work for them, you can either betray your current organization by killing off a senior member or Boss or you could go back to your Boss and set up an ambush for the organization that approached you. You could commit yourself to one organization, resulting in different missions or you could keep yourself out of everything and only do freelance work if the money is good.

As you start off, you have a reputation to build. You can be known as a gun-tottin' maniac in the form of a Tony Montana-influenced gangster or you could do things a bit more sneakier, going on what I like to call the "Corleone" route, killing off targets with silenced weapons, dumping or destroying vehicles that might attribute to your identification, disguising yourself and leaving no traces on the jobs you performed. As word of your reputation gets around, and depending if you're the loud-type or the silent-type, some organizations would shy away from you if you were the former believing it to be bad for business, ruthless drug cartels might pick you up instead because they like those certain qualities in a soldier. Crime syndicates that are vying for positiions under the radar might reach out to you if you were the latter and so on and so on.

Eventually, the time will come where maybe you don't want be the puppet no more, maybe you want to be the one pulling the strings. You can either do this in the ways mentioned above, you can declare war against major organizations that are hindering you from becoming your own and creating your own organization or you could set up a grand plan where you could take out various organizations by reaching out to dissatisfied members in rival organizations and setting up double-crosses and betrayals that would weaken the organizations, you could also try and make organizations go to war with each other, even possibly, getting your hands on a Fed enabling you some serious power.

Also you have alread said this exact same thing in another rabscallians post, now I can really tell you are full of codswallop!

@ Tom Chump: Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Don't be so high-blooded.

@ PHARKIN CHERKOV: Hm, that would be irregular. It will be uneasy. Maybe for the ending like it was in IV, alright. But not in the whole story.

Usually I won't attack anyone for their grammar but when a day-young poster comes in and starts giving me a cup of little miss atittude by being "obserdly" obnoxious, totally unfunny and a bit of a nut then I will but for the sake of me not caring then I'll just do what boring people do and ignore.

I wasn't getting much feedback in the thread of mostly bad ideas so I thought I'd bring this into a bigger spotlight so I can actually discuss it with people.

@PSLOYALIST

Look at it this way, okay. Eventually games will evolve within the next 5-10 years, there is probably only so much you can do with a straight-foward story and setting with this type of open-ended world. The next evolution for GTA is to "make anything possible". That is the way I see it as and by doing that, it opens the doors to absolutely anything. It is alot of a big thinking but I do think it is possible down the line. It just depends on what Rockstar are truely capable of. The main thing would be to supply alot of content so that people will always have options and missions to do, say if you kill off one Boss and you might to kill off your own employer, well obviously, there would be some trouble there. Perhaps a blocker could be placed allowing you to always have work avaliable so you never have the option of killing off your own employer unless a viable option is open.

Don't worry. He spams the whole board. I think he needs to get a flight to ban land.

You actually have a good idea, though you may apply it for the ending. icon14.gif

Not to be a prick but what you have said is nothing new. That whole concept has been used time and time again on these forums not to mention this isn't the only thread like this. Also some people in the BYOG game and the Add your ideas thread have all said this before in some manner so I have somewhat of a hard time beleiving you came up with this idea with out outside influnece from your own. However I may be wrong and you never saw those threads or read those ideas and you like numerous other GTA fans want the same thing. Either way I'm on the same boat as you in terms of having your own choice and being able to carve your own criminal path.

Also not to sound like even more of a prick that's pretty much the exact same thing I said in my BYOG entry in terms of having your criminal orginization, building it, starting wars, betryals, if you don't want to be a boss and stay a solider you can and many other things you pointed out. However like i said it may be nothing but a coincidence and nothing more not to mention as I said most GTA fans want the same in terms of big steps R* should take with the next GTA.

I don't visit this forum much nor do I read much of the ideas on here but that is something that I have probably wanted ever since GTAIV was announced. I think it is just a type of thinking many fans come to embrace, realizing GTA as not just your average game but a serious epic.
