magel
Hi guys. I think ive found a way to make the game load faster. After you press start at the main screen the game loads, sometimes it took 2-3 mins to load. The game now loads in around 30secs for me by doing this - Load into the game to the main menu, click on start and the game will start loading. As soon as the character stills are displayed press the "home" button on the keyboard, it opens the games for windows live console. Just tap the console open and closed and for some reason it makes the game load almost immediently. Hope this helps people out Edit: If you can, post if it works or not. Im keen to see how many people it helps Edited January 3, 2009 by magel Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/389473-reduce-game-loading-time/ Share on other sites

magel
Why would it take 2-3minutes to load. god dam defragment your sh*tty harddrive. Not sure why it took that long. Seemed to me like the game was waiting for another program to do its thing before loading into the game. There would be NO HD ACTIVITY while waiting at the character screens. p.s the hard drive is defragmented and its in raid 0. pinky
Try using the -novblank commandline, my game loads miles faster using it. The reason being is that during the flashscreens etc the FPS jumps to a massive 5000 or over and it wastes resourses trying to screw it back down to 60FPS. With the -novblank command my game has loaded within two of the flashscreens, without it takes over a minute to load. This trick is the only thing that makes the game load faster for me. LordByte
Another trick is installing GTAIV on WinXP instead of the f*cking Vista. Game will load in 30 secs or so. Loading times in-game will be shorter too. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/389473-reduce-game-loading-time/#findComment-1058836383 Share on other sites

Not sure these issues are completly related to o/s though, im sure it contributes. Micro$oft didnt make the game, rockstar did. magel
can you tell me what i have to do when a mission loading and loading without stop? Unsure sorry. This only relates to when you first load into the game from the game menu. Weses
Or, you could just alt+tab out of the game at the start menu and bring it up again. The game then loads much faster. 2 images loaded for me instead of 7. Oh and V-Sync must be disabled (Yes, triple buffering too) for this to work. Michael2009gr
V-Sync?what is this? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/389473-reduce-game-loading-time/#findComment-1058836643 Share on other sites
magel
V-Sync?what is this? v-sync is "vertical synchronization". GTA IV doesn't have an option to active or deactivate this option. It is automatically activated. Perhaps there is a command line to turn it off, I dont know it though. magel
well if someone knows how to disable it please wright here! do you have an ati or nvidia card? Id assume you would have to lauch the game with a custom profile forcing v-sysc disabled using the ati control panel or the nvidia one. magel
Nvidia...what you mean to do and how? The Nvidia Control Panel. If you dont have it you will need to download it. Its pretty simple to use, you can force all types of settings in games. Unfortunately I cant walk you through it as I have an ATI currently. Google may be ur best friend in this circumstance.
