R* should keep Toronto away from porting! MANIFEST

Why are you being so harsh on Rockstar Toronto and placing all the blame on them. In reality Take Two are the real culprits, they tell Rockstar Toronto how long and how much money they get. I'm sure Rockstar Toronto would have like to have longer to develop, but for Take Two we are not worth it cause in their eyes we are thieving scumbags. We are not worth the investment.

 

To the OP who would you prefer to do the port? As CC said Rockstar North aren't great at them. All they focus on is the console versions so giving to them would be worst.

is wrong. I would be surprised if anyone here thinks that GTA 4 is the best most efficient port in the history of PC gaming. there are clearly some things that Rockstar Toronto have done wrong. I don't think it is fair to blame Toronto for the social club, games for windows live or even securom. The decision to use those three things will have be down to management at Take two.

All game companys are guilty until proven other wise... they actually lied about their game... system requirements say that it should be able to run on a low to high end comp... it even SAYS 1,8ghz for the cpu as minimum clock. now that i think of it... i may be the only one that has ever noticed that... they LIED there for we should be entitled a full refund. I would really also like companys to stop f*cking blaiming my computer for their mistakes.

Dealer ???? ah right so now I am a drug addict too am I. Let me add that to the list of being a homosexual, deluded, Rockstar cocksucking, snivelling Rockstar fanboy. Why is it so damn hard for you to accept that SOME people have had no problems with the game. I have installed GTA 4 on both my PC's without a hitch, I have not had one memory leak from either PC, nor have I had any crashes of note.

 

I do not have any problem with accepting that for some people there are real problems. I am not going to deny there is no memory leak or any of the other issues that have been raised. That is the nature of the PC practically every PC on the damn planet is a unique entity. It is next too impossible to make a game that runs perfectly on EVERY possible PC configuration.

 

Now please tell me if I can accept some people are having problems and do not feel the need to flame and insult them why can't you grant me the same courtesy ? Why is it so hard for you to accept that some people are running the game perfectly fine instead of calling us "fanboys" or "drug users" ?

OMG you mean a developer lied about the specs Seriously like that has never happened millions of times before. It is pretty much par for the course that the specs listed by developers are only useful if you print them out and wipe your arse with them. It isn't just Rockstar that "lies" about the specs nearly every single damn company that brings a game out for the PC lies about the specs.

I see this thread is far from being what i was at the first post. It has converted in a flaming war betwen people who likes Rockstar and people who dont.

Yes this would be the worst port I've seen from Rockstar, and I've played about all of their games (aside from Bully, couldn't see the point in that game personally)...and this is the top of the list for worst ports from Rockstar...but nowhere near the worst port I've ever seen. We can dig up some older EA games for comparison (what? You liked that crap port of Carbon? Which by the way still hardly works), or we could even dig up some Ubisoft games...either or they both have topped out on worst ports ever in my opinion. I think the fact of the matter is, is that Rockstar was on with a new engine...with that in mind there were to be some flaws, especially in a port from a lesser machine to a superior machine (or in this case "PC of the future") which is another point I think they screwed up on...you can't design software in hopes of better hardware, you should always design software for what is given at the time, not to say it can't work but it is really, really, really, really difficult.

Our crew needs this, we want this" and they produce a game that is to much for the people who are new to grand theft auto on pc. And well the thing just needs to much tweaking for the lazy future leaders of the world. Now these spoiled brats come out screaming "The game is broke I hates em" and prove there is no longer as such thing as "true pc gaming fan" . So Toronto decides to just dip their head and take the brunt of the screams from morons who have no idea how to update drivers and increase cooling. This causes Grand Theft Auto IV/ Vice city to never come to pc.

The OP didn't even state what computer he was running the game on, for all we know his "failed port" idea is because hes running on a pentium D with a nvidia 6800.

 

He also never mentioned if he actually owns the other "failed Toronto ports" himself or if hes getting this off google, not to mention he hasn't even gotten proof that Toronto did the ports, or whether the Toronto staff is still the same.

 

Sure its not optimised as well as it could be, sure it has bugs, but please, give me a list of atleast ten ported games in the last 2 years that HAVE been ported nicely to prove that they SHOULD be running as well on a similar computer as a console

 

Fact is, whats done is done, why dont you take the negative energy and put it into something posotive, like trying to find ways to improve gameplay, not complain because it wont work, dont whinge, do something about it.

 

FYI why is nick STILL on these forums, since day one all hes done is chime in with "facts" that have been conjured up by a 5 year old and then flaming everyone for not going along with them.

 

As for things they DID mess up with GTA 4, well, for one they did mess up with the whole texture management, which is causing missing textures and flashing textures etc, they also didn't add in multiplayer cheat protection of any kind, but those are the only two absolute failings of this port, if you can list me atleast 10 PORTED games that have come out perfectly upon release in the last 2 years, then do so, otherwise go somewhere else and complain there.

 

Don't go listing games that were made for console and computer either, I mean ten actual ports FROM the console.

Secondly: Your behaviour is f*cking childish, but it's pretty funny how you didn't even bother to read through this topic. Rockstar TORONTO had NO connection with the above mentioned games (only GTAIV). Rockstar Vancouver did them, so it's pretty clear how dumb some of you are.

 

This whole "GTA IV" sucks madness is pretty much the same as what happened back in the good ol' GTA III release days. Everyone complained about how the game has performance issues, blah blah blah, and later on these whiney kids stopped to complain about it.

 

So yeah.. basicly if PC gamers don't get something, the company who made the product sucks ass... this even applies to them when WE GET something, but f*ck our installations up and start complaining about problems that we cause. The game has issues of course, as every other f*cking game... but I've just tried this f*cking release on 4 different computers since release day, and it did pretty good on every system I've tried it on. If someone comes here and flames me because I say that the PC port doesn't suck, then f*ck OFF. That's the fact mate, don't try to say it isn't. Go search through a torrent site, and see how many downloads/hits Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC has, compared to the console versions... I hate consoles, and console owners in general, but my opinion is that, if we do not buy a game which we have bitched, and moaned for about 6-7 months, and steal it, then we DO NOT deserve to play with it.

 

If you say otherwise, keep it to yourself, because I don't care about your naive opinion about PC gamers in general. I'm a PC gamer myself, and I pirate games of course... but after I try and like them, my first thing to do is to go to my local games store and buy them.

I don't know much about those other ports because I haven't owned a console in ages but I do know that Bull Scholarship Edition for the PC still has quite a few game breaking bugs that have yet to be patched. Whether Toronto ported that mess or not I don't know but If you look at the Steam forums or do a Google search you'll see what I mean. Plus on the Steam forums there are a bunch of people who were bitten twice from buying both Bully and GTA IV and have yet to get either working properly.

Crysis 1/2, UT 2004/3, Doom 3 and such on high without any problem compared to GTA IV on LOWEST and cant get but only 20 max 30 SLUGGISH, underwater gameplay ???

Only GTAIV uses RAGE. Bully SE on the PC uses Gamebryo. Funny story, Fallout 3 for the PC uses Gamebryo and it too is known to have problems.

When i watched console vids i though Wow those Graphics are unreal!! then i got the PC version and drive back to Romans house and thought WTF!!!!! Whats wrong with these F**king Shadows!!!
