Punk ain't dead, and this track proves it. I adore classic Punk music. This track makes me want to jump into a f*cking mosh pit! 8/10

Now, sorry for my barrage of classic 'Sabbath, but it's simply a band I look up to, a band I'm fascinated with, since, I can't find a single bad song on all 9 albums the original line-up released. Look at the crowd on this '74 gig. It's just mindblowing how popular they got in merely 4 years since their debut. 6 years of their existance.

Classic Sabbath, and that's one f*cking epic crowd too. 8/10

I'm gonna post some Children of Bodom, off of the album Hatebreeder:

Not my favorite kind of music, but I'll give it a 7.

I think, since I have long wanted the limelight for my man, Herr Schenker, Feature as much of the man's fantastic music over the years and decades. Of course, with UFO, there are other musicians just as notable, I mention bassist Pete Way, who is not doing so well, we fear may lose him in the not so distant future. It's honoring their rich, yet neglected history. UFO, MSG, and Scorpions. They are soldiers in the ROCK movement, and stick to their guns....despite the times, despite the trends.

Early M S G here with Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Because the audio is muddy, I'm gonna throw a studio cut in, from the early 80 era MSG as well, the live clip has the reunion of Schenker, Chris Glenn on bass, and Gary Barden on vocals. It would be nice if they had clear audio, the video is what attracted me to select that one, some just focus on Schenker, which is not fair to the rest of the band IMHO

As for Robert Plant and Now and Zen, I love it man, I love it. I don't say that lightly either. I have the 88 Atlantic B-day reunion, where they played with Jason Bonham on drums, and they did that song live on the show

10/10!

The amount of school parties and dances with this playing, eurgh, the mere thought chills me to the bone. I'll give it a lowly 3, because I'm going to be honest; it's not the worst song I've ever heard.

Pretty good, sort of sounds like something they'd add to the 'Electrochoc' or 'Vladivostock' radio stations in TBOGT....come to think of it, I wonder why they didn't put at least one Daft Punk song in there....8.0/10. Here's a sort of mellow song to just do something tedious(like study for an exam) to......"Pets" by Porno for Pyros; came out in 1993.

Pretty good, eh? I was gonna post some Porno for Pyros, and while playing Laserdiscs, I had them on the other day with my Woodstock 94 discs!

It's an official 2 LD set with all three day's artist represented. A bit o behind the scenes as well, hard to find on DVD I think.

Anyway, I should rate.... 10/10 in my book, I got into Jane's Addiction with their Nothing's Shocking, then went back to their first album, with two covers on it, Lou Reed as well as The Rolling Stones!

Great, great stuff.

I don't have a song cued, but I had to rate that given I like it so much!

I'll go with a newer upload of Miracles, some of you know where you heard it before!

That was pretty f*cking good, although I felt the production was quite flat. It could of just been the quality though.

It's Bloodbath, death metal's supergroup, so I have no other choice but to give it a 10/10. No-one in metal is a better vocalist than Akerfeldt in my eyes.

Gaelic Storm ~ Scalliwag

Something interesting I found, I really like this band, have a nice Irish folksy sound.

I'm not one for the folky type of music, but if that's what you like more power to you.

Seen these guys along with some other bands last Thursday night and it was by far the best show I have ever been too.

Heres some real Hardcore.

Sick of it all Step down

These might be supporting the Dropkick Murphys in 2010...I f*cking hope so, it would be worth going just for these. Details are unclear as to wether or not it is just the mainland Europe gigs.

Fine. I'll rate your song Jake. 6/10. It's a good song but not really my style.

Vevo launched when I posted the video. So it was deleted and moved to RiseAgainstVEVO. Vevo BTW is a youtube thing which is supposed to combat all the music being pulled because of WMG. Vevo is for Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, EMI and Abu Dhabi Music Company so any songs under those labels(on the bands official channel) will be pulled and put on a special channel with VEVO at the end.

Oh and the video's are in HD to.

Pretty self explanatory, dont you think? Heres the post since you completely disregarded it.

Anyway, regarding the song you posted, its all right, bit too slow and depressing for my liking but it was good. I like older Rise Against I must admit.

Ok..its time to get a skank on, and what better way to do it by posting one of my guilty pleasures, Less Than Jake.

The song I posted isn't supposed to be Hardcore, its more melodic death metal/core than anything.

Get the f*ck out of this topic if all you're going to do is give a bad if any rating at all for every song posted. I mean, you didn't even give me a rating on my song, you just said, for all practical intents and purposes that it sucked.

And I'll give that 1/10, sounds like you're generic, run-of-the-mill sh*tty ass Metal Core, in fact I couldn't even last 12 seconds, it was just that aweful.

Iced Earth ~ Dracula

Nothing can top a bit of Iced Earth, Barlow's voice is f*cking godly.

Off topic: Ok first off, I did not say it sucked, I said it is not my thing and if that's what you like so be it. Secondly the song I posted is nowhere near Metalcore, its Boston Hardcore you moron, learn your musical classifications. Third and finally, I have given a positive review out of the what? 3 posts I have made?!?!.

This thread is about opinions, its not about being the nicest person you can be and lying about liking a song when you dont. Next time you try to punk someone out on a forum, do it right like I just did.

Nice to know someone else love that song too. My friends just say it's a bad song, but they just don't get it don't they? cool.gif

Nevermore - Believe In Nothing

That song pretty good, nice music and the vocal just suit the melody just fine, the best part is the introduction, the solo just pretty awesome. I give 8/10 for that.

Time for our favourite band, again... I hope you guys don't get bored of me posting the same old band. tounge.gif

Oh look, nice job giving a rating on my video again friend, I suppose simple, blatent concepts like that have a habit of going over people like you's heads. I mean it's not like the topic is called Rate The Song Above You or anything... Oh wait, it is, holy f*cking sh*t, I think I just saw Jesus or something because that's bloody amazing, it's called what you're supposed to do within it, wow, how did I miss that.

And I don't care whether it's classified as Hardcore or Metalcore, it's all more or less the same sh*t so I really don't see the need to even disambiguate between the two in the end.

10/10, it's Pink Floyd, I mean for real.

Anima Sound System ~ Switch Me On

A pretty cool video, a nice song and a dead sexy lead singer, nothing wrong there.

What the f*ck is wrong with you? Less Than Jake are a Ska Punk band from Florida. I dont understand where you're getting the information form that they are stoners. You seem to be generalising the band based on one or two things. One, the lead singer has dreadlocks, and two, they have a heavy Jamaican Ska influence (obviously). Now stop being a retard and rate a song based on the actual song, not what the band may do in their spare time.

Also, I wasn't saying that your song was meant to be Hardcore, I was stating a fact...the fact that Sick of it all are "proper Hardcore", which they are. That comment was just a cheap stab at these scene kids and "Brutal hardcore" kids.

Also, can I listen to this song thats supposed to be Boston HC? it aint available in my country. (If it sounds anything like "Metal core" then I can guarantee that they're not a Hardcore band.

ok..on topic, that song was boring, slow and repetetive. 3/10

Heres some proper Boston hardcore, Mein.

Slapshot The last laugh

Now I wish these scene kids and their *insert genre name*-core sh*t would f*ck off and stop calling their sh*t hardcore. This picture seems appropriate. CLICK.

Well now, did you guys just forget I got banned a few times (temp wise) for taking things off the topic in terms of what was presented, in this thread in large part?

The thing is to just rate the song above and present a new one, additional comments can then be tolerated, but lets not make it an "after-thought" to do so.

I had a listen to the song Invincible, and even though it's more modern "pop" I'd say, I liked it comparitively speaking. The video was pretty creative, the song suffers more in the synth effects which turn out to be annoying and mask the musicianship, or musical quality of the song.

Metalcore is not something I call music I listen to but if it's crossover hardcore and Vintage Heavy Metal (British) influence, like Maiden and Sabbath, but with hardcore heritage style, then I would classify it as such. The new terms should relate to the origins, that's what I'm saying, all the sub-genres have to touch on what the roots of the band are, in defining the style the music is without hearing it. If it's too new, in a descriptive sense, no one can figure out what it sounds like by just reading the "terminology". When your genre refects a well known traditional style, then someone can tell what the type of music is without hearing the latest "trend". In my opinion, what I'm saying here is that any new genre terms won't make much sense if they don't relate to the defining base of music that that band is using to build on.

There maybe an act that defies classification because for the sake of argument, they are highly expiremental in their sonic style. But music has been around for ages, so typically something out now still has some far-reaching basis of influence that people have heard before. There's too much quibbling over genres and possible too many trying to be created? I dunno about that, I don't like to classify music heavily be it's genre. Just enjoy the style that it is on it's own. As with the GTA radio choices, they are all FAIRLY common the World over. Reggae has it's own subgenres, but as a whole it's fairly easy to see the common musical "root".

I'm not so familiar with the bands you picked out. I'll see a name and to me, maybe associate it with a song I heard before ... "Slapshot" for example, I think was a single in the 1990s.

Anywho, I had to comment on this as it's getting over-blown in way of sticking to the thread intent, which is what I was blasted over. So cool your jets, man

6/10

I don't dislike the style, just not a big fan, obviously. More oft then not, I just listen to songs I know over and over, and if a band has a real history, then I hear their new stuff first, before getting into a new band I discover. Not so true with everyone, but that's typically me, for example

My song is one that's rare, so it's likely new to all of you, released in 1980. Barry G. of Boston rock band fame, he went solo and released this on his self named album, here with the vocalist and drummer of BOSTON as well. Problem is, you'll need to crank the sound or use headphones to hear it, the vol is low! In stereo though.

ERROR/correction, I believe you guys both rated my song, I was commenting on Garfield's Which I didn't take the time to listen to, so that threw me at first

I dug up a short blast of Slapshot while I had YT page up, There is also a history supposedly, of that band, posted in an 8 minute clip.

That would be interesting to submit here. This version song [below embed \/]has two lengths, the search tag lists "hardcore" and "Straight Edge", Does Wiki even define what that is, I dunno..

I've heard Will I Am before, pretty much well known.

Not Aoiki though. I've heard MORE catchy songs for pure dance club music, I'd say 3.5-4/10

Oh, and that Barry G. /"Boston" song is titled "blues" but it's not traditional blues music at all! It's straight up boogie rock n roll! haha

This sample ^ is short and sweet, I like the tight guitars and fast pace of the music.

Here's one I'm not going to wait to post, I forgot about it earlier, but I found it earlier in the week and had planned to share it. The Rolling Stones Undercover of the Night video uncensored for a change;

You can rate whichever one, I guess. Just check out the Stones, you may dig it.

Sorry Garfield 2, someone'll have to rate your selection I guess. BOSTON are very much a popular classic rock band. Barry's solo album is long out of print and not properly released on CD.
