At the same time i fired..
a light from the shot illuminated
the person I just had killed

It wasn't an enemy soldier...

It was my friend José,
A classmate from school...
with whom i played when i was a kid
at the "soldiers and trenches" game.

 

 

Now the war was real and NOT a game,
En my friend is dead on the ground...

I fed up with this war.

 

And if i write to you again
Maybe i'll be in heaven...
Where i would find Jose
And i will play with him again

.

 

 

 

The song is based on true events. The letter was written by a soldier fighting with the Republican side (left wing) that shot his friend by mistake just like in the song. He later was killed by the Falange (Ultra right wing group) fighting with the National side.

Even if I wished to learn spanish, I still couldn't make out the lyrics over the loudass instruments and sound effects. That and it sounds like a bad knockoff of the MASH theme song. 1/10
