Can't get enough of The Who which is considered to be one of my favourite bands and Who's Next is one of my favourite albums of the band. 9/10.

More of The Who. It's from their sixth album, Quadrophenia.

9.5/10 I absolutely love the who. Undoubtedly one of the greatest band ever. Pretty much everything they made was gold. If you had posted Squeeze Box or Babba O'Reiley it would have been a 10 from me ;)

I can handle some ambient music, I like a bit of New Age type stuff, but not this, sorry

2.5/10

I'm giving half points for some attributes of the whole that might be more enjoyable, but there's not much I like here, it's more annoying to me.

Again with song topic that fits the adversarial relations of users and staff here at GTAForums, they ring true in my case! haha

There are only a few songs from the 70's that I liked, this is not one of them. 3/10

THE GHETTO JEZUS

7/10 - pretty nice song

I wonder how many of you guys will remember where this song was from ?

Yes, of course, the so-called GTAV theme music. In actuality, Michael Hunter never composed that song, it was a fanmade music evolved from the (I think so?) Soviet Connection of GTA IV. But still it's nice, 7/10.

Mastodon - Spectrelight

Ah, I don't think they're bad by any stretch, but not good enough to herald all the hype they seem to get.

The sound seems too bass heavy as well, causing distortion on this sampling.

6.5/10 They probably have a better track in their catalog but I haven't heard 'em all.

If you're a metal head, you should own Voivod, it's at the very origin of Thrash Metal, middle to late 1980s, Canada

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXV7anYI0TE

@Shenmue18, that's 1982, NOT 1970, and how many songs do you know from the actual 70s decade?? hahaha

I like that Uriah Heep so much I listened to it three times in fact, I was so in the mood. Great song to my ears

My ears are completely killed, because of that sick guitar riffs. Well, actually Slamman dude, I have a quite a bit of knowledge of Voivod but I haven't actually put up a bit of attention, not to say the least that I know some of their songs. Will be digging more of the band, you know I'm just starting to become a metalhead myself. I'll give it as a bonus, 9/10.

I just ever thought of Anvil as well, which is one of the pioneering Canadian bands as well to incorporate their sound, heavy metal, with thrash metal. This is from their 3rd album, Forged in Fire which is also the title of the track itself.

I'll come back with a followup in the moment, but as an aside, I also found this interview with Nirvana's drummer, who made the album Probot talking about the massive influence of VoiVod. I know a lot about the band, as I discovered them in the late 80s

They started circa 1984 along with Celtic Frost and Kreator.

Swiss and German metal bands

I have another song in mind from the same band....

Rating to follow, here... 9/10 A bit more serious then the Mad Dog single, which had a funny video for it at the time

You just like it for the pretty blonde, she's taken though! hahaha

I find it kinda average for modern country. I used to hate it, and still far from my favorite, but I think the Eagles were the first to bridge the modern country gap when Common Thread came out and then Garth Brooks showed his rock roots with KISS's cover album Kiss My Ass.

In the past year or two Luke Bryan showed up as one of the guests for CrossRoads on CMT normally, but carried on other music channels like Palladia.

In that episode Joe Walsh was the Rockstar so to speak, appearing with several current country musicians. Give him credit for that, it was pretty good.

6.5/10

Now we have to see "to be Continued?!?? " haha

Keeping with the humor, I got another song that describes the GTAForums staff, and how we tend to feel about 'em...not all the time, but you know...

Brown Sugar

Probably better than Bob Dylan's original version in my opinion, 9/10.

From K-jah radio in gta 3. All the songs on that station come from this album.

I'm not a fan of reggae music, but since it is a soundtrack from GTA III as well as K-JAH Radio being one of my favourite radio stations of the game, I'll give it an exceptional 9/10.

I thinks this track is the precursor to the death metal scene, or so I say. Slayer is considered by many as one of the most sinister thrash metal bands of their era because of it's influence that later emerged into the extreme metal genre. A track from the iconic Reign in Blood, which greatly influenced the extreme metal genre, particularly death metal.

Pretty much a no brainer.... 10/10 for just about any Jimi

I got one from the new film about CBGB, a long, long, LONG time in the making (the club is truly historic, and stands for Country and Western, Bluegrass and Blues, but was known ultimately for punk and New Wave out of New York (aka Liberty City)

Huh. That was pretty good. 8/10

This has to be one of my favorite songs right now. It's just so full of hopelessness, written to portray someone who has completely lost themselves in addiction, but at the same time it's calm and accepting that there's nothing he can do to escape the cycle. Also, the outro is incredible.

Edit: screw it, this is now officially my favorite song.

Forgive my 'pregnant pause' I was watching the live Coachella broadcast on AXS tv that's also going on at present. Largely reaffirming my belief that modern music is just pretty well stagnant as far as anything impressive, standing out. I heard another musician on TV say the same thing, it's hard to get out of the current popular music rut we're in. Music is far less inventive these days.

Not bad, yours. It's palatable (seems I got that word correct?? haha)

7/10

I got one of the best SHERYL CROW tunes she's ever crafted for ya next...

Now, that's what I'm talkin' bout

That's what I thought, until I gradually got tired of hearing 60s and 70s music and worked my way towards bands that were well-rated on RateYourMusic, a music review site with reviews by every day music fanatics. That's how I found modest mouse and their sweeping albums with grand statements about corporations and the universe. Dare I say it, they are even more inventive lyrically and instrumentally than any classic rock band I have heard. There's some great music out there, you just have to dig for it and then give it several listens for the brilliance to really sink in.

I need to go now, so yeah. Bye.

Don't forget to give Sheryl a run for the money... I bought several of her works. It's enjoyable in repeat mode. Seeing her live was what did it for me, a lot of artists struggle with LIVE albums for instance, are there too many in the marketplace or is it the best way to present themselves, and offer a back catalog that's fresh for ardent fans. I could go more for studio recording, but there are classic live albums just for those reasons.

As far as 60s and 70s, a lot of it I'd forgotten or neglected over time, so it also pays to go back and revisit. I'll add another song once the above is rated. Sorry for narrative going here.

Well personally I'm not a big fan of The Beatles but you could say I love their music. We should be grateful that without them, there won't be the revolutionizing of rock genre. 9/10.
