10/10.

Great song, and the fact the video has Christopher Walken dancing is a 10 from me anyday.

Why did I know there was going to be generic clean vocals mixed in with your typical sh*tty growling...

"This song is all about killing people, cause that's what I like to do!"

The guitar solo is f*cking awesome.

Because i like that kinda stuff off course, Though growling isnt sh*tty im sure you enjoy some bands which do it.

I actually enjoyed that one though so 7/10 and the solo was pretty sick!, You also didnt rate the song. . .

At first, it seemed okay, with the opening riff sounding quite Testament. But then I realised it didn't, and the song got pretty boring pretty quick, especially with both types of vocals sounding pretty crap.

Speaking of Testament:

Walken is a trained dancer, and theater man, the video is very good, but it was already heavy rotation when I had cable, LONG ago. I saw suffocation live more then once, but never seen Gwar. Did see the Mentors though, apparently they don't get along. It's all stage act anyway, just a show like Alice Cooper. I didn't get back to a rating because of the site issues along with dialup being good for text, some graphics, and VERY LITTLE video!

Kayla, Not familiar with them, but long ago on Earl Root's ROAE radio show, he played a band called The Interc*ntinental Linguists if I recall, it is likely archived in my massive tape recording collection, but I only recall some odd band names being announced that never left my head! lol.gif

Even though they used the word C * N T in there to be creative, the GTAF censored it! ARGH!

5/5 for all the music I don't normally select. To each their own personal taste, as always tounge2.gif

I did go back and listen to this again, the above song, and for me, it's not what I normally like, but not offensive, I'd say it's a 4/10 perhaps to my ears

Kayla's video: 7/10 I had a couple of albums from CunninLynguists, and they were pretty good, but they were more of the listen-to-once-or-twice kinds of albums to me.

I hope whoever reviews this has enough time to listen to it all.

nearly flawless but i'd point to "Sleep" as the quintessential GY!BE experience. they really employ the poignant monologue thing better than almost anyone.

I listened to just over half of Cage, but to me it defines music that has no soul or art. Anyone can create that "music", there's no melody that I can define with it. It's not absolute horrible material, but what one gains from listening to it, I dunno. I worked in factories where the machine drone is very similar, and not something I enjoyed hearing prolonged. Do you dance to it? 2/10 rating as it's not really even Rap in my book.

....===----

I did neglect to add a video for review, my batteries died and I was dealing with Twitter account stats. Before all that. I was looking over the prior entries. I had wanted to post this song because it's pretty damn good lyrically and it shows what makes Todd Rundgren so great, his caustic humor!

I have an interview with Todd and Utopia circa 1984, I will add a thread with most of that submitted soon for you guys and gals. Looking at old magazine's there's a whole slew of quotes from artists we may take for granted today, but you gain new perspective and insight just from interviews that are 20 plus years old, like Jon Bongiovi in 1984 as well... This from FACES magazine, now tell me you remember that one?!

This vid is circa 2000...

Slight better audio here>

Nah, the Jackson 3 man!! 7/10, given MJ and the Jacksons were real singers, not just reading off lyrics and poems. I have to say, I seem to recall a guitar player online a number of years back, we were on the BC Rich site around 2001 or so, he had a band called Cage, it was a rock band mind you, based on the East Coast and he'd tried out for Ozzy's band after Rhoads died, and before Zakk Wylde auditioned, again, a bit sketchy on that, but I do recall he went to NY and played for Ozz. Pretty cool.

I was not a FAN per se, of Michael Jackson, until the 1980s. Jennifer Batton (Sp?) took over guitar after EVH played on Beat It. Interesting enough, looking over the Net, Metallica supposedly did Beat It just recently in tribute to Michael Jackson, but I didn't have time to check it out, but I must see and hear that!

It was up on Twitter as a link.

I watched other variety shows in the 1970s, like Sonny and Cher I recall the most. Smothers Brothers. Hee Haw, Laugh In. Well, I missed the good ones like Midnight Special

Here's another one just for fun... Todd covers the Red Rider classic "Lunatic Fringe", Tom Cochrane does it better and many people, well, I assume MANY, but a few confuse it for Tom Petty. Canadians don't I expect!

To compare if you dig the original, I never knew there was a promo vid!

NAS ain't ma thing either, but I'll give it a fair OPEN MINDED listen.

Seems the message is making a difference where you reside, rising above things against you, and encouraging and empowering are all worthy things to sing about, rap about, but for me, the lyrics are always secondary, music comes first. I like the change is build of the song, so I'd say as far as rap over all 3/10 or 3.5 Rap is a tricky one for me, I just never listen of my own accord

With the other songs I will be listening back to later as time allows as well. The neat thing here is we can share songs that themselves, I feel would be pretty important to each person and not just plucked from the blue sky.

With that in mind, this LIVE version is a one off gig for Metal Blade Records' 07 B day bash, and I don't think it equals the studio cut, so compare them with the two found on YouTube. The record also features a track found in a classic Michael Keaton film, based on an actual true story. He plays a tenant from Hell to Mathew Modine and his wife. The title escapes me, but I believe also in the film is the video and music of SoundGarden. One of their best early tracks!!

8/10, just made me bang my head along to it for the whole track, I liked it. colgate.gif

Time for something completely different haha.

By the way, this may be a stupid question, but I consider it legitimate. Do the songs have to be English? I have some killer Serb sh*t which I find really, extremely f*cking catchy, even though most of you won't understand it lol. tounge.gif
