Hats off, few bands have had the audacity to add two drummers to the mix, I believe Don Johnson is good friends with the band.

10/10

He of Miami Vice, and a musical performer, one can say about the man! haha

I got another SLAB of hot, steaming metal for your poor ears, This is one of the coolest salutes to talent cut short, Jimi Hendrix

There can be no one to take his place!

Peter Steele as well

7.5 out of 10.0. I happen to like Hendrix's original better, but this wasn't bad.

I haven't listened to The Kinks in quite some time. I think it's about time I start.

While I certainly don't mind The Kinks, I've always found Lola to be a bit of a dull song to be honest. 4/10.

Yeah, hard to top Hendrix, That Collins song is a cover as well, to make a point of continuing a trend, I got another cover in mind, Kreator covering Gangland by Tygers of Pan Tang. Sure I mighta posted it prior, but I'll likely just offer Tyger's version. John Sykes was in the band at the time

9/10

First time I heard this, Kreator's version, the DJ started the LP in the wrong speed since I think it was an EP release at 45RPM, and he played it at 33 and a third!

Switching the speed after a minute or two had passed, and I happened to be recording it, always a bummer!

I looked on YT for the original Tygers of Pan Tang, but the studio version seems missing now

================

Formed in 1978, Tygers of Pan Tang were one of the leading heavy metal acts during The New Wave of British Heavy Metal, featuring young six-string legend John Sykes, Live At Nottingham Rock captures the group at their peak in 1981, before newcomer Sykes left the group to join Thin Lizzy. The Band during this recording consists of,

John Deverill (Vocals)

Rob Weir (Rhythm Guitar)

John Sykes (Lead Guitar)

Richard Laws (Bass)

Brian Dicks (Drums)

Funky tune, although gets quite a tad annoying after a moment or two of listening. 4/10. smile.gif

A moment or two of listening? Excuse me? I have to add rebuttal. The Kreator album of the time was just an EP with another cover, Lambs to the Slaughter IIRC, on the same album, I believe. Raven ...a true blast from the past!

It's not funk, but from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal

This song is from last year, the original artist, still out there live. GANGLAND

For the above, that's what I call a 4.5/5 outta 10 song

Just not my cup of tea either, but I know that song from somewhere, Yeah, GTA 4!

I should vote that higher, I did enjoy that station, I admit, but it was not something I thought I'd enjoy. So, surprisingly so. Still wonder if representative of NYC radio (LC)

7.0 out of 10.0. It's always good so start off my morning with a cup of coffee and an ear full of metal.

The Marshall Tucker Band; one of those great classic rock bands.

Very nice indeed! 8/10

And now for something quite different. My science teacher introduced me to this song. Please watch all the way through as the song will eventually, properly begin!

3.0 out of 10.0. I can identify 99 problems with that song.

The Cars are, sometimes, just what I need.

REO in a time warp, I pulled this song up earlier, and now I share it, Remember this one from years past??

As for Cars, of course I'm familiar with that too

7/10, not their best, have to say.

REO Speedwagon is a staple for just about any fan of classic rock. 8/10

Now for something unique, almost sounding other worldly and largely unheard by the masses, some pre-king Crimson:

5.5 out of 10.0. I have to admit, that wasn't as bad as I expected.

Here's one of many great songs by Buffalo Springfield.

4/10 Ok, but not something I would listen to every day or every other day.

This was playing yesterday at one of the clubs in my city, thought I could post it here. smile.gif

Jimmy L, what's with that low score for Buffalo Springfield dude?!? You're disappointing me again

It's one of the best from the 70s/60s

As well, I got SPIRIT here with Nature's way

7/10 for Philthy Phil Collins, always liked the man!

not all his tunes are 'gold' though

As I remember it, Randy California lost his life trying to save his son caught in a riptide. RIP

7.5 out of 10.0. I remember the day Randy California died; it truly was full of sorrow and sadness.

I haven't listened to U2 in a while.

Oddly I have. That one goes back to the very first (80s exposure) I was in Sunday School, and U2 was presented as a Christian rock band, for those kids having to pick from secular artists. Never was fond of that particular track though, it seems bland

Compare to Red Hill Mining Town, I absolutely LOVE that track

6/10

Kids who watch Big Time Rush on Nick, this is what you NEED TO HEAR ^^

Our kid Julia hears the Nick version since they play it so often

As far as a song that's really a dance number, having the comedy of SNL give it so much recognition, it's ultimately hard not to like

7/10

Stones other MASSIVE hit, it's pure timeless goodness

A perfect song for GTA

7.5 out of 10.0. I have a friend who listens to Papa Roach, so I get use to his music.

This song is very old in music years, but it's still one helluva tune.

As for Heartbreaker by The Stones, it should be a definite 15.0 out of 10.0. tounge2.gif

Ima throwdown some ORIGINAL RECORDING ARTIST DISTURBED for this thread, I don't think I've done that yet, and everyone needs to know there are more then one band using the same name. Dispel the confusion

Really never a favorite of mine, my cousins turned us kids onto the duo with The Boxer played on acoustic guitar, fond memories. Later it was my art teacher playing them in High School, kept the tape of the New York concert Live in Central Park going on and on. That and Bob Marley were his regular musical treats in class

7/10

I love this song from the Beavis and Butthead soundtrack, think it was their movie, if not the TV show.... so long ago
