Great one. 9/10

And Fears from Serj...

This song has been written especially for the Write-A-Thon, for human rights.

Not a big fan of them, or him, he's alright. Hope you saw the band live online, FREE, Rock in Rio on YouTube, before Guns and Roses took the stage

7.5/10

Type O continues the rock, but silenced due to Peter Steele's passing. Remember the good times

Sounds like the male version of Whitney Houston, too bad she's most known for a Dolly Parton song.

I don't have something to rate for ya, since my clipboard is full, but a word about Type O, they are kinda Goth, but more original then anything, Peter Steele's Carnivore is anything but Goth Rock!

6.5 out of 10.0. That was pretty decent, but I have heard better.

I first heard this song at a McDonald's when I first moved to the city in the summer of 1997 and have always had a fond memory of it.

9/10 A classic. My sister used to have it on vinyl when I was a kid so I'd listen to it a lot.

This track was written by Chrissie, but popularised by Grace Jones. Chrissie Hynde even thought it was the better version:

Like all the other London punks, I wanted to do reggae, and I wrote "Private Life". When I first heard Grace's version I thought 'Now that's how it's supposed to sound!' In fact it was one of the highpoints of my career - what with Sly and Robbie being the masters, and Grace Jones with her scorching delivery. Someone told me it was Chris Blackwell's idea - thanks Chris!

I love the synth riff that runs through it more than anything.

I might just be biased due to the massive oversaturation of the song in clubs, radio and TV, but it registers merely as a "meh" on my radar. Nicki Minaj and Guetta are both really good at their respective areas of pop, but this songs follows the Guetta formula to a tee. He's said in the past that he has a very specific process that he uses to create all his songs and this one just comes out sounding like an amalgamation of all the hits that have passed through the machine before it. Gotta say, I much prefer Guetta's latest single Titanium .

My latest obsession:

I've listened to a few of M.I.A.'s songs that you've posted in the Q-13 topic and they've been really good. Very unique sound she's got going on. Quite addictive. I couldn't get Jimmy out of my head for days. This song doesn't fall short either. It has a really cool and chilled club vibe going on. Definitely something I can chill to. 9/10. Gorgeous stuff.

Here's a group that are nothing short of amazing. Every song has it's own identity. Enjoy.

7/10, I love Portishead, I remember they were one of the first acts I listened to when I discovered the more moody, downtempo side of music. The Dummy LP is just so sombre but at the same time, so uplifting and confident. I remember the vocals on a track called Nylon Smile just giving me the biggest chills I'd felt in a long time.

I understand it's a little lengthy, but just hit play and carry on what you're doing for 10-or-so minutes. Relax.

6.5 out of 10.0. The length of a song does not bother me, but the sound of the music running for those eleven minutes were a pain to my ears.

Ramblin' Man has always been one of my all-time top songs.

Very Popish, sounds to me (low volume laptop sounds) like 80s song style in the current gen, and the video just brings memories of MAX MAX (Road Warrior) II

9.5 out of 10.0. UFO are just a great hard rock band; one of my favourites.

I will try to keep it in the same genre.

Tis a classic, but didn't they do a better cover with Damn the Pusherman (Hoyt Axton?!!)

7.5/10

Schenker's brother Rudy and Scorps play as a band on this album!

7/10. I like a few songs from these chaps but this is one that just annoys me a little. I can't quite put my finger as to why though. Good sound though so I can't fault it.

Here's something special. The Lohner remix is one of the best I've come across. It keeps the original feel but adds a lot more drama.

Here's the remix if you're interested:

Love it. I love most things that Kanye and Jay-Z do, even if I don't actively keep track of what they're up to. There's a ridiculous amount of energy going on with the song/video. Apparently on that tour they'd encore the song a good 4 or 5 times and get the crowd more and more pumped each time. The video is much more interesting than the song for me though. It's really well produced. It's one of the very few examples of vertical mirroring done right, it fits in perfectly with the frenetic and crazy flashing lights throughout the video. That sample of a lion's roar is f*cking gnarly too.

TL:DR:

7/10. I listened to Childish Gambino after seeing a review of his album, having been completely unaware of who he was or what Community was. I quite impressed with his beats and production, though some of the "I'm a nerd, I'm a nerd" lyrics do get a little old at times. Still, he's got some good lines and impressive wordplay at times. There were a few moments during Camp where I just thought "wow" to some of the beats.

Love Deftones. Really got me pumped up. 8.5/10

I've been listening too much of hip-hop lately.

6.5 out of 10.0. I remember when House of Pain released an album in 1996; did not really care for that song, nor do I care for any of their songs.

Now here is a song that I care for.

5/10, decent track but nowhere near one of their best. They're from my home city of Manchester, so I'm tied to liking them for local pride if nothing else. They have some good material out but I find them a little too goofy sometimes. I know their demographic is the rave/Madchester scene but I can't help but wonder what more dark material would sound like - Happy Mondays with the intensity of, say, Stone Roses.

A true staple of classic rock/punk right there. I've always imagined that as the riot anthem for middle easterners, rocking it out of the boomboxes Cusak-style - 8.5/10

This song was actually confusing a little bit. Kinda boring, undefined, I can't explain it. 4/10

Nothing to say about this next song rather than JUMP !!

It's a classic. 9/10, because I've unfortunately heard it way too much.

This is one of Bruce Springsteen's lesser-known songs

7.5 out of 10.0. I am not the biggest Springsteen fan, but he is pretty decent, nonetheless.

I heard this on radio this morning for the first time in what seems to be forever and I have had it stuck in my head all day; not that I'm complaining.

I used to think that was a different artist, you know how some sound alike?? I'm not that big on it, but I will give them a 7.5/10

I got another UFO song, one with Mick Bolton this time;
