7/10. Recently gave Velvet Underground's album with Nico a listen in work, was quite refreshing and was a little surprised I hadn't given it a chance before. This prompted me to listen to this as well as other songs of theirs. It isn't my favourite, but it's damn good otherwise, and the lyrics are great. I'm just not a big fan of Lou Reed for some reason...

2/10, I find the song pretty annoying for some reason, I don't know if it's because I've heard it too many times, but I find the lyrics and melody pretty terrible. It's odd because I know there's worse songs and I quite like them, almost on a "so bad they're good" scale. Sorry though, not my thing.

AFX is the alias Aphex Twin uses for more acid-orientated songs. Definitely worth a listen, he's got quite a large amount of music released under that name, but I digress.

 

As for the song, I'll give it a 6. This wasn't the first Bowie album I listened to (Hunky Dory was) but it was certainly one I enjoyed and it opened me up to other albums and even artists that have been influenced by him. It isn't my favourite from the album, but it's decent and you're right - the live album version sounds better, much more intense I feel.

Blech, as good as her voice is soul has always struck me as such a soul-less, copy-and-paste genre of music. The chorus alone sounds like at-least a dozen others I've heard.

Foxy Shazam ~ Dangerous Man

 

 

Friend introduced me to Foxy Shazam when I was looking for theatrical, over-the-top rock. Loved them instantaneously upon viewing their antics in this video. Kind of strike me as Gogol Bordello meets Queen.

5/10, I did like Foxy Shazam when I first heard them, but I just think my taste has grown since. Their energy is fantastic though, and I'm betting they put on quite a show.

Kind of New Age, get rid of the electronic drum machine and I'd rate it higher, [5/10 middle of the road] as for me it's a bit annoying, I'm using headphones on a Dell C400 at present (mono, one speaker built in! Pre-Netbook) Some people look down on New Age music, but it's just ethereal head-space!
