I like the old school dance music organ synth in the beginning. Not the biggest fan of the vocalist's voice but the rest I liked. 7/10

 

Vice City fans will recognize this, as it was sampled on Fever 105 by Fat Larry's Band.

I must say I enjoyed that, had quite a soothing effect on me. Lovin' the bassline bubbling under the surface. I had to share it with the person I was talking with MSN and download some Whatnauts for my iPod. As such, I can't give this anything other than 10/10. Quality.

As for the above gypsy fest, I didn't like it too much tbh. Just my personal taste, not into the whole folksy genre (unless it's Turisas). 4/10 for me.

 

Oops, didn't see this go to the next page. Can't beat a bit of Yngwie and that was damn impressive but it's not really a full song, just a minute or so of awesome riffage so 7.5/10 for me.

 

 

 

One of my favourite bands atm, I think I've posted one of theirs up here before. Not my favourite song of theirs but it's f*cking brutal live (saw them a few months ago, front and center. It was EPIC). Ol Drake is a guitar legend in the making. They're going back to the US after the summer so any of you guys in the states who likes getting destroyed, go check out some proper old-school thrash sprinkled with Yorkshire charm.

Well, that guy has some pretty good guitar skillz (and as we all know, 'skillz' is better than 'skills' ). Not sure if a 'rock' version of that particular song works quite so well, but still rather dandy!

It doesn't get much more 70s than The Brothers Johnson, does it? Strong choice to go with, and it is a very good song from them, though I've always felt the guitar solo portion in the middle is a bit misplaced. To me, it never seemed to fit with the tempo of the rest of the song. Still, my favorite bit is the outro, with the keyboard refrain soldiering on into the end as the rest of the song slowly fades away.

 

And if I had to quantify my rating, I'd go 8/10.

 

 

 

Right, well, rap's not usually my domain, but one record I do feel is a classic is:

 

 

 

A great record with well-written lyrics that get their message across with ease. In addition to that, the music video is also pretty enjoyable. Henry Rollins plays Vanilla Ice throughout it, and I think that's MC Serch in drag, playing the teacher. Gotta love the ......NOT!! that was such a staple of the nineties.
