System requirements ====================== Operating systems supported: Microsoft Windows XP 32bit, Microsoft Windows Vista 32bit Microsoft Windows XP 64bit, Microsoft Windows Vista 64bit Graphics cards supported: All NVIDIA Quadro FX graphics cards. 2. Introduction =============== The Performance Driver installer provides an easy way for the user to install the NVIDIA Performance Drivers for Autodesk's AutoCAD and 3ds Max applications. It will copy the driver files and configure the Performance Driver as the default driver for these applications. 3. Performance Driver Configuration =================================== When installed, the NVIDIA Performance Drivers will be set as the default drivers for AutoCAD and 3ds Max. If you want to check these or want to change the settings at a later time, please see the instructions below: a. Autodesk AutoCAD 2007-2009 ----------------------------- Start AutoCAD, type "3dconfig" in the command line and press the return key. This will open the "Adaptive Degradation and Performance Tuning" dialog. Click the "Manual Tune" button on the right side of the dialog. In the "Manual Performance Tuning" dialog you can choose the driver you want to use. Make sure that the "Enable hardware acceleration" box is ticked and choose the driver from the "Driver Name" box. The NVIDIA Performance drivers are called "nvgl9.hdi" (only available on Windows XP 32bit) and "nvd3d.hdi" (only available for AutoCAD 2009). For a higher quality image you can also set the "Smooth Line display" to ON. Save your settings by pressing the "OK" button. Note that for Windows Vista this will require an application restart. b. Autodesk 3ds MAX 9, 2008, 2009 --------------------------------- Start 3ds MAX, open the "Customize" menu from the menu bar and select the "Preferences" item. Open the "Viewports" tab. The field "Currently installed driver" will tell you which driver is currently active. The NVIDIA Performance driver is called "3ds MAX Performance Driver". In case the NVIDIA Performance driver is not configured as the default driver click the "Choose Driver" button. Press the "Revert from Direct3D" button, select custom and choose 3dsmaxpd.drv as your new driver. In case you want to revert from using the NVIDIA performance driver and use the normal 3ds Max driver instead, click the "Choose Driver" button and choose either OpenGL or Direct3D. You will need to restart the application after changing these settings. 4. Shipped Drivers & Versions ============================= The following drivers are shipped with the Performance Driver Installer: Performance Driver Service nvpdsvc.exe 2.0.0.4 nvpd.exe 2.0.0.3 nvunin.exe 2.0.0.1 Performance Drivers for Autodesk AutoCAD 2007 (XP 32bit only) nvgl9.hdi 0.15.8.7 nvgl9en.dll 0.15.8.7 Performance Drivers for Autodesk AutoCAD 2008 (XP 32bit only) nvgl9.hdi 0.15.9.9 nvgl9en.dll 0.15.8.9 Performance Drivers for Autodesk AutoCAD 2008 ( OGL: XP32bit only, D3D: XP & Vista, 32 & 64bit ) nvgl9.hdi 0.17.2.2 nvgl9en.dll 0.17.2.2 nvd3d9.hdi 0.17.2.0 Performance Drivers for Autodesk 3ds MAX 9 (XP & Vista 32bit only) 3dsmaxpd.drv 9.0.2.0 Performance Drivers for Autodesk 3ds MAX 2008 (XP & Vista, 32 & 64bit) 3dsmaxpd.drv 10.0.7.0 Performance Drivers for Autodesk 3ds MAX 2009 (XP & Vista, 32 & 64bit) 3dsmaxpd.drv 11.0.8.0 5. RSANtilles
Still no change for me, game may or may not decide to run perfectly for 5 minutes or 3 hours. So sticking with officials for now.
Dungeoncrawler
Be careful when enabling the AO function with these drivers. Some people are reporting a temp increase as much as +17c on their gpu's when setting this option in the CP. Dc
mva5580
Its the game that has the problem not our graphics drivers, I know you people are really gullible and want to believe anything, But your game is not going to run great until Rockstar does something about it, Maybe a new driver will give you a false feeling of the game running great but its not. Its obvious that on these forums even if something did fix your game no one would ever know since half the idiots say "IOMG THIS DON"T WORK BROKEDED MY CPU" and the other half say "ZOMG THIS WORKZ SO GOOD I GET LIKE 50 FPS BOOST" Than there is one or two people who say they see no difference what so ever. This. But you can't say that here because there aren't anywhere near enough people on this message board that want to deal in rational thought. Too much yelling and swearing, not enough mature thinking.

Too much yelling and swearing, not enough mature thinking. Or. A bunch of spoiled console gamers trying to ruin or take away the fun of pc gaming. by posting fake benchmarks and yelling about how everything doesn't work. kinda a flaming trollish way of scaring people away from getting better results. IF THE GAME GETS BETTER WHEN DRIVERS ARE RELEASED THEN THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THAT ROCKSTAR COUNTED ON DRIVERS BEING PERFECT. Clearly the drivers are not perfect, and they never will be. it would be like admitting fault.

GTAander
One thing I noticed with these drivers is that when I started the game it was a night, I switched on my head lights and fps took a dive, then I noticed a lot more shadows then normal. after a while (day / night cycle) I noticed that my FPS where fine at night again and lo and behold the extra shadows where also gone. Weird. PS AO is only avail on some games, the application has to support it. The only two games i own that support it are Company of Heroes and Crysis. Apart from the drivers the only difference is hat i uninstalled several litle programs and utilities i havent used recently but i doubt thats related at all. Alex20
so I might try these new drivers, not sure yet.. but lets say I end up doing it. Exactly why is it suggested to uninstall the older driver and how do I do it ? If its with driversweeper or wtv the program is called, I tried that but it gives me 2 options for the nVidia section, chipset and another one.. help ? btw, I have an ASUS 8600 GT which I OC'd along with the CPU, dunno if that helps anyone to help me make a decision with this but oh well.
