If you wanna make it look like Jason Statham, you should use the bald haircut.

To do so, open the playerped.rpf file, extract hair_002_u.wdr and hair_diff_002_a_uni.wtd, then change the 2's into 0's in the filenames and import them back in the playerped.rpf file.

That way there won't be any hair on the head, so it will look more like him, cause Statham is kinda bald-ish.

that looks sweet, the only thing which I think would make it look better would be a new nose, but that would have to come later...

look for hair 002 wtd then edit it smile.gif

The hair_002 is not used in the game. Hair_002 is for the bald haircut, the hair_000 file is the one you see in-game.

Neither one of those works. Hair000 is a transparency map for the hair texture, and I don't know what Hair002 does, but neither of them change the hair color. And Hair001 seems to be just a smaller version of Hair000.

No, hair000 is the hair texture. I changed it and Niko's hair changed too. It IS the one.

On the left is the regular hair, unchanged. On the right is the result I get from editing hair000, which you say "IS the one."

Notice how the hair does not change color when I edit hair000, it only makes it a solid color, which shows me that hair000 is nothing but a transparency map, seeing as how hair000 is a BLACK AND WHITE image, and Niko's hair color is neither BLACK nor WHITE.

Hair000 is Niko's normal hair, Hair001 is the beta haircut seen in the early trailers/screens, Hair002 is actually no hair at all which leaves niko with a bald head. though I don't know what changes the haircolor...

I opened the hair000 texture in photoshop. I edited it made it darker, made it have some more colour and simple stuff like that. I put it back in the hair000 wtd. I started the game, Niko's default haircut was changed to what I changed it to.

Also, there aren't really any "transparency maps" in GTAIV, if a texture has transparency, then a texture is going to be transparent by itself, kinda like simple png images. And that texture contains a bunch of little hairs, which are put on Niko's head by 3 layers, one more transparent than another, while the colour comes from Niko's head texture, which already has some short hair.

I know that, because I looked the hair model that's used by default in 3dmax and it was made up by 3 layers, each smaller than another.

Here's a small demonstration.

I took the texture from hair000 and put that on top of the hair you see on Niko's face texture:

user posted image

As you can see, the effect looks exactly like the hair you see on Niko in-game, which means that hair000 is the texture that's used for his hair, it just doesn't contain all the hair, because some of it is already on the face texture.

And, if you want to change the hair colour, you gotta modify the hair that's on Niko's face texture.

Ok, now you've said two different things. First you said you edited the color of his hair by changing hair000. I did exactly the same thing, and it gave me the result pictured. Then you said the color comes from Niko's head texture. I'm confused.

EDIT: I saw your edit, I think I get it now. Thanks.
