Hi to all!

I have a little trouble with adjusting my Logitech MOMO racing wheel in GTA 4 and I would be very grateful if someone can help me or give an idea!!

So

1. I have a latest GTA 4 patch and MOMO wheel drivers installed.

2. I have a commandline file with "-usedireñtinput" string as it should be.

3. I don't use that xbox emulator that has been talked above.

4. The wheel and pedals WORK normally!!! but...

The trouble is, that i cannot adjust some settings of the wheel.

- I cannot adjust a deadzone value. I want to minimize it to 0.

- I cannot adjust a "weight" of the wheel. The wheel is too tight. I want to make it lighter at turning.

I tried to change corresponding values in logitech profiler and also in control panel - game controllers, but it doesnt have any result. I set the deadzone to 0% and turned all effects to 0%, but it doesnt result in game.

Settings like "Wheel sensitivity" and "Wheel range" are working correctly.

It seems to me that GTA4 has its own part of game controller settings in own configuration file or registry. But which?

Did I explain my problem clearly? sad.gif I tried best with my bad English, sorry!

Thanks again in advance to all!!!

Edit: sorry, I wrote this haven't this topic read blush.gif I'll try to use xbox emulator program. Hope it helps! Thank you guys for solution!

Well, I tried the XBox emulator, but it didn't help, and huge deadzone remained...

Either I did something wrong, or the emulator doesn't support Logitech MOMO wheel.

Corgi or maybe someone else, could you describe all the process of the installing xbox360 emulator?

Where to put DLLs? In GTA 4 exe directory or in Windows\System32 directory or in both? Where to put the .ini file?

Should I have logitec profiler enabled with GTA 4 profile when using xbox emulator?

Which option exactly should I change (and with what value) in .ini file to get a zero deadzone?

Thanks a lot!

And a little adition or explanation of my previous question about placement of xbox emulator dll files.

Initially xinput9_1_0.dll etc. are located in Windows\System32 folder. They are a part of the DirectX library.

So why xbox controller's readme file tells to put their version of that files in GTA 4 exe folder? Thats a question.... bored.gif

If you put it in your GTAIV folder that means you are overriding what GTAIV will read from a dll.

If you put it in system32 that means you will overwrite the file, which means every program which uses that dll will now use the hacked one.

That's not safe in most cases.

When a process runs, it looks for DLLs in its own folder first, then looks in more global folders.

System32 is a global folder.

Hergonan, thanks for the clear explanation!

I'll try to make that stuff work once again.

Well, I made xbox controller work. Changing values in .ini file has response in the game. Even FF began to work.

But the main problem is still here - still large deadzone. I've tried to change all the values regarding to wheel, but with no result on deadzone... confused.gif

Corgi, thank you! I'll try today and report!

Just another question, do you have logitec profiler enabled at the same time? And if you do, is there any gta 4 profile enabled?

And could you please also put in here your xbox360 .ini file contents? Thanks!

Corgi, unfortunately there is the same result with your settings. Though mine were almost the same. Thanks anyways.

I feel i'll give up on that soon. Ehh...

Don't you have even 1-2 cm deadzone on each side? When I use logitech profiler the deadzone is about 2-3 cm on each side. When I turn off profiler the deadzone becomes about 5 cm each side.

I think, that's firmly programmed in game, to generate such a deadzone. some kind of virtuall deadzone, not coming from controller.

My profiler is OFF.

I don't really know what you mean by deadzone. I have a feeling that our wheels work the same, but what bothers you doesn't really bother me...

I'd be more than happy to donate to anyone who could get rid of that deadzone. I'm using an Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel, but the moment I hear about the deadzone getting removed, I'd be willing to shell out for the Logitech G25!!!

Steering works not sure if the FF is working just yet , but im more concerned about getting the accelerator to work with my G25, the brake works however?

I'm really scratching my head here, when using the 360 emulator i replace the xinput9_1_0.dll in the game directory and add the xbox360cemu.ini correct?

When i put the xinput9_1_0.dll in the game directory after the windows live sign in the the game crashes? When i remove the file from game directory the game loads fine,

I have read through this whole thread, I have the comandline.txt and same options in my game controllers control panel,

Not sure what else to try, i have been at it a hour or 2 now and can't get my g25 working right, sad.gif

using vista 64

Ive read the whole post. nothing works for me.

I have a momo logitech wheel,

I added -usedirectinput to command line

i even tried to add commandline.txt and then placing -usedirectinput in it

I tried to place GTaIV.exe in the profiler (when i try to launch it from profiler,it give me a EFC20 error)

It's not about deadzone or anything, the wheel is not detected at all by GTa4,i have the retail version(not steam) on vista x64, my wheel work fine in other games

did i forgot anything?

i did a post in troubleshooting with no replies

edit : i tried the TOCA 360 emulation, the game crash after the cinematics when it try to load the menu

Sorry to bump an old thread! I'm also having problems with my MOMO FFB Wheel. I'm seeing a lot of people with the G25 having success, but has anyone got the MOMO to work? I've tried everything noted in this thread, in various combinations, but with no success. I'm running GT4 1.0.3. in Windows Vista 32, SP1. Those of you who do have it working... are you using any program to map anything? My pedals and wheel do nothing in the game. I'm sure I could use xpadder or something to map them to keystrokes, but I think we've determined that pretty much sucks when it comes to the wheel. So are you guys some how mapping the wheel? Or is it just ... working?

EDIT: Forgot to note that I have tried it with my MadCatz 360 controller plugged in, and uplugged. I also tried the x360 controller emulator that was posted earlier. Still to no avail!

Are you guys still having success with your wheels in 1.0.3? I'm wondering if I should try getting my MOMO to work in 1.0.2 instead.

sorry m8 took a while.

for the use of -usedirectinput u need 2 have a shortcut

of LaunchGTAIV.exe on ur desktop.

make a rightclick on the shortcut and choose properties.

in the window opening there is a field called target, which

should look like "C:\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe"

respectivley the drive is the one u pointed out during installation!

now u have to add -usedirectinput behind the shortcut,

so that it looks like that:

"C:\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -usedirectinput

click apply and/or close the window by clicking OK.

now u can just click that shortcut with ur g25 pluged in and ur good 2 go!

wheel, pedals, d-pad and the 4 black buttons on top r mapped in game and work!

a and m8 PLEASE use smaller fonts and pics, even on my 1080p display its toooooooo wide cool.gif

almost forgot, VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!

in game use the setting in which the pad triggers would be throttle and break,

else the pedals wont work!!!!

I have tried everything listed in the threads you have posted on in order to get my g25 working within GTA4.

I tried the suggested "create a shortcut to the GTA4Launcher.exe and in the target line add "-usedirectinput" to the end of the string"

I tried to create a commandline document and put the " -usedirectinput" in the file then save and drop it into the main gta4 directory.

Both did the same thing as nothing "starting the game regularly" did for me.

I actually got my wheel "steering" working in game but here is my issues.

I managed to get the steering right. dialed out a lot of turn. went from 900 degrees to 187 degrees but there is no dead spot and it feels fluid now.

My issue is that no matter what I try the only pedal that works is the brake pedal by default.. Here is my settings configurations for the wheel.

Seperate axis

150% centering spring

force feedback off

In game I have the controls set to STANDARD and I think I am chosing the control configuration that has the throttle and brake assigned to the controller R and L trigger buttons but I am not sure how to make sure of that. All i do is go to the control configuration and then select the picture of the 360 controller that has the triggers asigned to l and r and I guess thats it right? Am I missing something?

I have my wheel working great in every way but being able to map buttons and such and also the darn throttle will not work at all. Only the brake. Now when I select Combine axis within the logitech settings then the throttle works but not the brake sad.gif(

I have spent 4 hours reading everything I could and all of the things that I have tried have given me the very same result. my wheel works but not both my pedals "gas and brake" it seems it is one or the other and there is nothing i can do about it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Can we just have a -removedeadzone option already? Some of us like to use all the 900 degrees we paid for, and not have to scale it to 120 the feeling of which basically is equivalent to steering with the keyboard

rockstar, if you are confused how to program this, let me help you out real easily. here is the code:

if (check_parameters("removedeadzone")) { deadzone = 0; }else { deadzone = 180; }

You can thank me later.

If you want to hire me as a senior programmer, I will consider the offer.

That is all we need, really. It isn't rocket science in comparison to how much more you have accomplished with this game.

I have an Logitech Driving Force EX, like this one:

user posted image

I've been using it for a long time with -directinput, now with those recent patches we can change it in-game, with the Direct Input option at GTA IV menu

So, I think GTA IV was made for 900 degrees steering wheels, and mine is 180°, it's a little weird to drive with it, but it works...

There's anyway I can change it, so the game recognizes my steering wheel as 180°, instead of 900°?

Thanks!

Sorry for double post, but for those guys who are having trouble to activate the steering wheel with GTA IV, I'll tell how I made it work like 3~4 months ago...

Start the Logitech Profiller, that probably came with your steering wheel (Anyway, you can find it here)

The profiler: (My Profiler is in Portuguese, wich is my mother language, but it doesn't make any difference, of course lol)

user posted image

1 - Select a Device (In case of you having an G25 and another joystick, for example...

2 - Select a Game (Click on that, then at "Create a new game Profile" or something like that, 'cause i'm translating direct from portuguese to english, and I don't know how they wrote that in the english version, then it will appear another window, name the game and select it's executable, on our case, "LaunchGTAIV.exe")

3 - Check if you're in the right game profile

4 - In some cases, when you select the game, it will configure automatically to Steering wheel, if it doesn't click on the steering wheel image, click on Select new Atribute, or something, New Axis and configure that.

5 - Same thing, but with Accelerator

6 - Same thing, but with Brakes

In-game, turn "Enable Direct Input" ON and enjoy lol (This option is present only in 1.0.4 version, maybe in 1.0.3 also, not sure...)
