Not wanting to spam this thread, but I have been running GTAIV on Windows 7 (build 6801) X64 for quite a while now,(as in over three weeks) and it pretty much runs the same as running Vista X64.

Nothing was needed, except installation using Windows XP SP2 compatiblity.

Here the tests is on different version, that runs better GTA IV than vista does.

Iknow some people like you have already played Gta IV on Windows 7 Build 6801 for a while, and some report back as you say with some minor gains. i havent tried the old build, but iknow for a fact that the Beta 1 Build 7000 gave me significant increase in Gta and various other games. So if they have fixed sertain bugs, or just added some more support for accelerating game speed i dont know. But im guessing BWARazor will give us the answer to it. I tried to show people in another thread here my boost, but without any proof of my fps in vista before upgrading to 7 nobody really cared confused.gif But my point of all this blabbing beeing, lets see how this works out, maybe you will be suprised?

Because when XP released it was f*cking expensive and full of bugs.. but now, as Microsoft released three service packs in total, it runs pretty good -.-

Yeah, because there were so many better alternatives to cream your pants over. Millennium, for example. Or how about XP SP0?

And here we go again, another Sarcasm guy comes rolling in with a clever comment. Lets stop this discussion about 98/xp before it gets to much off topic here smile.gif

Yes I can and probably will be surprised smile.gif

Blast just found out that they pulled that build from Technet. Well, I will just wait a bit longer I guess, the leaked builds all seem to be X86, I only go for X64 nowadays.

do benchmark in win 7. then in vista and xp with the same settings.

we don't need screens. better use fraps to do 15-20 sec video of enterring the game in win 7 and upload to youtube.

Also, are you not comparing apples and oranges, ie. is your Vista install clean, I noticed Deamon tools for starters, if you want to have an honest comparison, you need to have a clean Vista install and compare that to a clean Windows 7 install. And preferably use the same display drivers.

On my machine Windows 7, with quite a few added programs installed is beating Vista X86 which is a over two year installation with many services running. Installed a clean Vista X64 which in turn beats the more bloated Windows 7. Not due to the actual operating system, but due to other stuff running in the background.

sorry for brain-f*cking you but performane should be count in percentage and not in fps.

your rig can be bottlenecked in fullhd res so better compare performance in med res and textures with the same mem use of your gpu card.

the best tool is benchmark and not fraps.

GTAIV won't work on windows 7 beta1!

1. Windows 7 is a beta (whats the point)

2. GTAIV is a beta too (whats the point)

if you manage to make it run, all you will have is even more problems then what GTAIV alone has already.

But if you got some time to loose, then go for it, lol

he already made it?

you get it only to run with the windows 2000 compatibility flag since only vista sp1 and xp sp3 are official supported (but there are no compatibilty flags for). but under the prebeta build (milestone 3) of windows 7 this workaround stopped you from actually playing it since there was a horrible lag (up to 3 seconds) once you pressed more than one key on the keyboard.

I got it to run in build 6801, (it still runs) quite acceptably without any problems, by just installing it in Windows XP SP2 comptability mode, the game executable isn't launched with any compatiblity option checked, neither is laucngtaiv or social club. Compatbilty is only needed to get the game to install, not to run it.

to install it the xp sp2 comp. is needed but once you press the play gta4 link nothing will happen.

Ok first problem, GTA doesnt start, if i start GTA , the black window pop up and closes ... and in the task manager launch gta iv starts and then it dissapiers ...

so the comp. flag was needed to get it work though this was without patch 1.01 (retail version).

pimpinpenguin?

This thread fails. What has he shown, just that he got got a couple of FPS (it's not called fraps per second) more in 7 than Vista.

First your PC isn't that great, second what drivers are you using in Vista and 7? Was both of them clean installations? meaning no unnecessary crap like Daemon Tool just the OS and up to date drivers.

A OS slows down after time, registry errors, increase of services running. So unless Vista was clean it's had a disadvantage.

This guy hasn't a clue what he is doing, and i really doubt he is a Beta tester for Microsoft.

I think you just wanted to brag you've got 7, why did we need to know your progress on creating a partition for 7? What use was that. You created this useless thread before even got it to work.

Also we don't need pics of the game running in 7 we seen that already and it'd pointless. Do a proper benchmark or don't bother.

Could you tell me what version number of 7 you got?

build 7000 as it seems. (pls next time use imageshack with a modified thumbnailmode to skip the useless new advertising screen!)

anyway: he's properly 13, like 90% in here, and some of us are just waisting their time here so it's no matter of what hes has to proof or what we have to say about it. a f*cking trap.

i didnt now benchmark is a program!

And some guys cant really read in this thread? they say i have problems?? omg i HAD problems, i fixed them , and i think the images prove this, and i dont use any compability . i didnt right click then go to compability and enabelded vista or anything, it runs without compability mode!
