bigblue38
Hi huys, I have a dual core AMD processor, 2gb of mem and 512mb Nvidia gefore 9500 and I kept getting the lag problem, I know I don't have the best or quickest pc in the world. Anyway, I thought either I'd cross my fingers and hope the new patch might help or I would have to save up and buy a new pc, which I would be doing soon anyway. So I decided to reinstall San Andreas and give that a play again....even that game started to give me problems every time I went into a building the game speeded up! So I checked the forums and found a bit of info relating to a AMD dual core processor optimizer, official AMD website, so I installed that and San Andreas worked fine, so all was well with the world. Just on the off chance I thought I would give GTA IV another chance, just to see...It works! I've been playing for over a week now with no lag, obviously i'm on lower settings but at least I can play the game! Here is where you can get it, AMD Dual Processor optimizer Hope it works for somebody. Bigblue. ttttkk
I though it only shows some effect on old games like farcry 1. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/388681-duel-core-amd-possible-fix/#findComment-1058824751 Share on other sites

bigblue38
To tell you the truth, I'm not even 100% sure that the "optimizer" has fixed it. My problem, shared with loads of other peple, was that after a random amount of time the game would slow down to the ponit of freezing dead. I would then normally have to shut my pc down. I installed the optimizer to get San Andreas working and it did. I only tried GTA IV on the off chance, it's been working great for over a week now with no hassle. I can only point to the optimizer as thats the only thing I've changed on my pc. I'm only sharing in the hope that this helps someone else get some fun out of the game. Bigblue.
