Costar
Ty listener so far the new xlive is working fine for me. I replaced xlive actually w/ the debug dll just incase.. Ran from LaunchGTAIV.. ran w/ out RGSC, no sign-ins. Upon load, it initiated new game, I decided to save, exited.. Copied save games to the new location, run game, select load, my old saves were loaded! So far no problems to report I have now to see if any asi's are current to work w/ it! djerk
Just love XLiveLess. Lightweight, simple, easy to install, really, really powerfull . Thank you for your work!
a-k-t-w
Thank you very much! I can now play GTA IV problem free! The 'Rockstar Games Social Club' game launcher thing was causing my game not to start (the screen would go black, to show the game is initiating, but the computer will hang and do nothing.), and the only fix (that I knew of) was to manuly delete the RGSC settings every time I played the game, which meant I had to keep accepting the license agreement and sign in all the time. It really got to me, so I just set this game aside and played other games. Now I can mod without crashing and as a plus, can play the game without resting a thing. HOORAY FOR MODDERS !!! Outofluck
I put the xlive.dll into the gta 4 directory but it crashes when i try to start it, why god, why?!
GTA_XP
This works very flawless. But the patch2 decreased fps so much down to get unplayable gameplay. So I have now unpatched game and it plays smooth. Thanks god for these amazing coders!!!!
RadioActiveLobster
I have a question for Listener... Is there a way (Rick's Wrapper does it, I think) to still have the GFWL overlay useable? Multiplayer can still be disabled, Rockstar Social Club can still be removed, we still get the ASI loader but still be able to hit "Home" or guide and have the guide pop up so we can still talk to friends, have it track achievments, etc??? I don't mind GFWL being there (I like to talk to friends, track achievements, etc...) I don't like Rockstar Social Club, I don't like the save game checks, file checks, etc... I prefer to use XLiveLess because it does get rid of those things and it has an ASI loader built in, but what I am asking is if it's possible to have a version that has the ASI Loader, removes the file and save checks, removes Rockstar Social Club, prevents you from using multiplayer (to stop cheaters) but still lets you talk with friends and track achievments

shoseijutsu
this is a great thing (i f*cking hate GFWL) only problem is, it does not fix my drunken camera issue, i have a legit copy of GTA IV, before the 1.0.2 patch the game wouldn't even work (crash right after the logos in the beginning) after the patch the game works great, only problem is i receive the drunken camera issue about 5 min into game play. i've tried everything but nothing seems to get rid of it. any suggestions? What do I do? You have to place the savegames in: C:\documents and settings\YOU\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames In vista it should be in: C:\Users\YOU\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames

NO, i didn't use any sort of crack what so ever.
One-time
Alright, I have a question here. Can I uninstall both RGSC and GFWL from the Add or Remove Programs? The game doesn't need them anymore with the Xliveless, does it?

EDIT: GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE AND ROCKSTAR SOCIAL CLUB ARE NOT NECESSARY! REMOVE THAT SPYWARE! Turns out Grand Theft Auto IV is pants-on-head retarded when it comes down to Visual C++ Redistributive. It will NOT work with C++ 2008 64-bit package or 32 bit package and it will NOT work with C++ 2005 64-bit package. So that is why it didn't launch for me. Also, OP: Don't you mean 2009 instead of 2008? Also - Awesome Mod. Edited February 4, 2009 by udedenkz

soiramk
When I first installed the pirate copy I created a new xlive offline account. I don't have a GFWL account and I can't do achievements. I'm planning to install my retail copy and I would like to continue from the point I'm now, do the achievements and play online. Is this possible? Is this possible? I believe savegames are tied to your GFWL account, so if you don't have one now my guess is that it won't work when you do have one. I've had to backup and restore my savegame a couple of times, and you have to backup your GFWL files as well or it won't work (without xliveless). williambumble
Thanks for the work on this great loader. I also agree that RGSC and GFWL suck and I'd rather not have them. However, unfortunately for those of us playing on lowspec machines, calling the Live dashboard in-game is the only way to get past certain hanging loading screens, which are too freqeunt to ignore (eg transitioning from Police Computer to finding current criminals, stripper lap dances, various cutscenes, etc.) Is it possible for someone to compile a version of xlive 0.9.4 that works with GTA IV 1.0.2.0 that retains GFWL (or just Live dashboard functionality)? Cheers for any help. edit: Don't worry, I found a solution - Rick's xlive wrapper 1.1 works fine for me; also it wasn't clear why some mods weren't registering, the filelist.pak in Grand Theft Auto IV/pc/data was backing up and overriding everything in common/data - aru's 1.0.2.0 magic-iv patch solves this.
