PaddyM
I'm sure this is a completely newbie question but I can't seem to figure it out by myself, so here goes: I'm using this with Red Faction Guerrilla, the Steam version, and it works fine except for one thing - the game doesn't remember my settings. I can save the game fine and my graphics settings are remembered, but my custom controls and general game options need to be reset every time I start the game. When I remove the Xlive.dll file and login to my offline profile in GFWL my settings are remembered. I really want to be able to use this file because it allows me to use a trainer which would otherwise crash the game. I'm assuming discussion of RFG is tolerated here given that this thread is the home of the mod and that the mod is "advertised" as working with RFG, but if not I apologise in advance! I'm assuming discussion of RFG is tolerated here given that this thread is the home of the mod and that the mod is "advertised" as working with RFG, but if not I apologise in advance! Yup i have the same problem! When using with Red Faction:Guerrilla it wont remember most settings, only some. I have to redo custom keybinds, subtitles, audio settings, and stuff everytime i start the game. I appreciate and love your work though, solved my problem of not being able to use trainers in single player on Red Faction! It would be super awesome if you found the time and resources to make this awesome thing work perfect for every "games for windows" game(that means saving the settings right and stuff), would help alleviate a lot of headaches and problems people have all the time with "games for windows". Starting with Red Faction:G, it already seems to work perfect on GTA IV so far but i have not played GTAIV that much to be sure yet, only did 2 missions and played around with the vehicle's handling. I make good use of it for GTA IV so i can add mods to the game, like i increased traction in materials.dat to 1.5 so my cars would not slip skid and slide all over the road like they are hockey pucks, the cars go slower without the handling mod Realistic Driving n Flying, but i can still sorta powerslide around corners just wont slide too much and crash into walls so easily when going fast, normally seems i have to slow down too much, so that makes it less frustrating for me, i need to test and tweak it more to get it right, i want my cars to drive more like they did in san andreas but not exactly because if i remember correctly that handling was a bit weird too the cars went too fast and seemed light weight and unreal in GTA SA(been a long time since i played GTA:SA though), might end up using the default handling and increasing the speeds of all the vehicles myself if they dont flip on corners from the increased traction. I'm talking too much about "what ifs" and going off topic a bit though sorry! OK, i need to get some gaming done, take care peoples.

Why?????? PlS help. And explain it step by step. Why would you do that? Xlive_d is for debugging. If you use that instead of the regular dll, it makes a log so you can see why its not working properly. But only listener understands the output for the most part. Are you checking My Ducuments in the right account folder? Whatever Windows account your logged in as, is the folder where the My Documents folder is, where the savegame is. Not Administrator or All Users. Actually, if you're using XP it could be under Administrator if that what you're logged in as. BTW My problem is just the menu fonts where are they? I have no idea where the menu fonts are. Why don't you start a thread in the PC performance Tips section or maybe the modding section. You'll be more likely to get help that way.

Mathew212
Love this thing due to my GFWL not wanting to work for some reason I couldn't figure out. I know its been said 100000 times before but still, allowing LAN games would be awesome.
TurtleeyGTA
Hi. So, recently, I installed Police Pursuit mod. A lot of things wouldn't work, so I downloaded scripthook and xliveless. ...Then my GTA IV wouldn't launch in the first place. Everyone suggested it was a corrupted file and I should re-install. So I re-installed... for 42 hours. It took 2 days to re-install GTA IV. Finally, it launches! So I install Police Pursuit, scripthook and xliveless...and it wouldn't launch again. First I started crying, then I collapsed, then I tried again. It doesn't even give me an error message. I click "LaunchGTAIV.exe" as I usually do to launch the game (because "GTAIV.exe" seems to not work on my computer), it opens the Rockstar Club log-in. I click either "Play" or "Play Offline", the window disappears, the computer loads something... then nothing. I left it open for two hours and nothing happened one time. Anyway, I'm not exactly what caused the source - Police Pursuit mod, latest version of Scripthook, or xliveless - so I'm posting this on all 3 threads/forumboards. Thank you for reading. goobz
Before I uninstall my 1.0.7.0 gta 4 version for a fresh 1.0.4.0 install, will I need to save a game without being logged into my gfwl account? the reason I ask is that I plan to use all my saved games from 1.0.7.0 in 1.0.4.0 but they were created/saved when being logged into gfwl. Do you think they will work in 1.0.4.0 even though they were created in 1.0.7.0 while logged in?

You just put xlive.dll there. And scripthook.dll goes in the same place. I haven't done EFLC yet. so I can't answer the other question.

nightwalker83
I seems that xliveless no longer works if you download the (latest) update in-game. Every time I try to use xliveless after installing the latest update via live GTA IV fails to load.

MessedUpPro
So, I got the latest version of XLiveless. It used to work! I had lost my disc to GTA 4 after getting a new computer, so I got a cracked version. I downloaded XLiveless again and...wow...just wow. It makes my game get stuck in a never-ending load screen. The menu comes up and I press start, and the first character comes up. Then the next one and the music stops playing. Then the load screen never ends. I don't understand. I even deleted it and it still does it. EDIT- I just tried again, and it was the same load screens as before. Mr. Faustin then Manny. The music stops with Manny's screen. It appears that it is still loading, but I have waited for like 10 minutes and it does nothing but loop.
Girish
Try turning off VSync, if you haven't already. It reduces the loading time.
MessedUpPro
You don't understand, the game will not start. The load screen just loops endlessly.
Girish
It's not necessary to start the game. You can get to the main menu, right? Navigate to Graphics options from there, turn off VSync and then start the game.
MessedUpPro
Do you even have this game? There is no VSync option. It has nothing to do with VSync anyway. I can play the game fine, until I put Xliveless on there. Then I start to get problems. Sorry if I sound snappy. I have just had this problem like 3 times. Each time I reinstalled. I wanted to use the First Person mod, but it does this when I get everything set up. Edited May 31, 2011 by Tony_Florence
Girish
Do you even have this game? Of course not. I just like to fool around giving pointless suggestions. There is no VSync option. I really don't know how you can miss it, but it's right there in the Graphics options below 'Definition'.
