Recommended Posts

Tested on friend's comp and it don't work.

I've copied xlive.dll to main gta4 directory where gta4.exe is. Next I've copied save games from

"C:\Documents and Settings\profile name\Local settings\Application data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames"

to

"C:\Documents and Settings\profile name\My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\

Help

I've got gta4 1.0 and razor's 1911 exe

When I hit Start, new game starts, not a saved game. When I clicked Load "no saves" error showed

So it don't work with crack? mercie_blink.gif

Must I copy savegames to savegames folder directly or in user_xxxxx folder? I tried both and the game doesn't see them.

This problem wouldn't occur if my friend, before formatting hdd, know to backup xlive folder aswell... because now he created a new account with same name and game see the saves but can't load them.

I also tried copy old saves to new created user folder but game can't load them too rolleyes.gif . Stupid protection.

Is there any chance that in next release it will work with crack?

this works fine for me with V4 and my save games, with or without the filelist.pak.

however, whenever i try to modify the gta.dat in any way, the game crashes on the load screens about the time it loads the save file, has anyone got any workarounds for this problem ?

btw, thanks for all your hard work Listener smile.gif

Edit: i am using a genuine install of the game and yes i'm running it from the "LaunchGTAIV.exe"

Yea, I got it after last night's update. What are you trying to do to us listener?! lol.gif hahaha

@Daan17: You copy the savegames directly to the folder, you don't need the user_xxxx folders for xliveless. Just copy the SGTA4** files and the ControlMap.dat file to the \My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames folder and that's all you should need to do to get xliveless to read them. I use razor's crack with v1.0.4 and xliveless still works for me just fine, I hate using the CD just to play the damn game. wink.gif

EDIT: You probably need to update your game. confused.gif

XLiveLess - small replacement of the xlive.dll with no online support

Last Update: version 0.97-beta (20/Jun/2009)

Note:

* run LaunchGTAIV.exe instead GTAIV.exe (to prevent "drunk" camera)

Main features:

* complete replacement of the xlive.dll (original dll isn't required)

* all online functions are disabled (to prevent cheating in multiplayer)

* removed all anti-debugger checks

* all game variables are made unprotected and can be accessed and changed by the trainers, control centers and other tools

* in-built asi-loader (no need to replace original files)

* asi-loader searches for .asi files in the root game folder and .asi and .dll in the 'plugins' folder

Additional features for GTA IV version 1.0.1-1.0.3:

* removed savefile check (you can load save file made by any offline XLive user)

* removed files.txt check (integrated replacement of FileCheckFix and MagicPatch)

* restored access to the system debugger in the critical error menu (removed loading of WER.dll)

* enabled write access to memory in code and .rdata segments (no need to call VirtualProtect from a .asi)

* disabled RGSC

* moved 'savegames' folder (see below).

Installation:

* unpack the file xlive.dll into the game folder (don't forget to remove the asi loader if there is one)

* to turn on debug logging, unpack the file xlive_d.dll into the game folder and rename it to xlive.dll

Additional notes on savefiles:

* savefiles are now located in the folder:

(for Windows Vista) %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\

(for Windows XP) %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\

NOTE: don't forget to copy savegames to the new location

Plugin support:

* Added plugin API (xliveless.h and xlive.lib)

* Added sample plugin that moves the 'savegames' folder into the game folder (saveToGameFolder.dll)

Download:

* http://public.sannybuilder.com/GTA4/xliveless-0.95.rar

* http://public.sannybuilder.com/GTA4/xliveless-0.97b.rar

* http://rapidshare.com/files/259079692/xliveless-0.97b.rar

UPD:

* version 0.91: added loading *.dll from plugins\ folder

* version 0.92: fixed bug with crashes on XP; fixed loading modules from plugins folder.

* version 0.93: disabled RGSC, moved the savegames folder

* version 0.94: added 1.0.2 support, fixed "Live Guide" bug, minor plugin API additions

* version 0.95: added 1.0.3 support, small fixes

* version 0.97: added 1.0.4 support; possible fixed crash on exit

Special thanks to Rick and Seemann.

I don't understand this. How do I get this to work with my save game files? Whenever I put the files into GTA 4 I start all over. & When I found the save folder. It was call mapcontrol.dat or something like that. Can you help me please? I'm trying to get this to work so I don't have to start all over.

Go here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\user_xxx*\

Go into user_xxx folder and you should have some SGTA4xx file. Copy them from here to:

My documents\Rockstar Games\GTAIV\savegames

if savegames folder doesnt exist create it.

The solution is to ignore it. Otherwise you're just paranoid.

Sure m8 what ever you say... AVG wont let me ignore it. Even if i shut down AVG, vista even on admin will not copy the file over to gta dir. i have gone back to patch 1.03 if someone can tell me where to get 97beta from b4 update that whould b nice or how to fix my stupid avg from blocking.

You can always add the directory to the exceptions list. That's what I did and AVG hasn't bugged me about it since.

If that doesn't work, or if you're copying the file to another location, try disabling the Resident Shield. That's what blocks access to "infected" files.

I didn't realize that. I thought you were afraid to use it. I didn't know it was actually your anti-virus software that was paranoid. By ignore it I meant add the DLL to the ignore list. I guess you can add the whole folder too. It might be safer just to add the DLL. I don't know.

When I first saw the picture of Resident Shield, I thought it was actually malware and not a real anti virus program. It looks like Windows Ant-Virus. lol.gif

HELP!!!!

Hey guys got a problem. The loader and mods work fine but when I copy my savegames(they work as well) the mods stop working, just like they wouldnt be installed. If I remove the saves the mods start to work again. Any help? orly.gif

EDIT: Problem solved. The mods dont work immidiately after game load, gotta wait like 30 seconds before they start working.

Same for me, says it's a virus. When I try to extract xlive.dll to my GTA IV folder it says "You need permission to perform this action". Won't let me do it.

Why don't you try extracting it to somewhere else then putting it the game folder. You could also disable UAC.

UAC has been disabled since I got vista. Can't extract anywhere due to something unknown.

Maybe you need to disable your AV Resident Shield before extracting the file? My dll was already extracted and when I went to run the game it said the game failed to initialize properly, then I got the virus warning. So I just added the GTA folder to the AV exceptions list and I haven't heard anything else about it. wink.gif If you are copying or extracting the file you may need to disable the Resident Shield or the AV altogether just for a few seconds while doing something with the file... confused.gif

It seems all of a sudden Avast believes Xlive.dll to be a virus. I added an exception to the GTAIV folder. But had to re-download Xliveless. Then Avast tried to stop me doing that too tounge.gif

Disabled it. Working fine now.

Edit: Ok, despite adding the GTAIV folder and xlive.dll to Avast's exceptions. Avast still says its a trojan, when it isn't. So now I disable Avast before playing IV and re-enable after playing.

Hi,

I'm having a problem using the xlive.ddl file..

The instant I run gta IV after copying the file into my gta root directory, it says "gta iv stopped working".

System features : Windows Vista Ultimate, 32bit, SP2

The game worked perfectly before copying the file.

Did I do anything wrong or can someone help me?

Thanks
