wow this works good with patch 3 icon14.gif

I notice i dont get the notice about my files be moded when it try to go online but it still blocks cuz it says windows for live is off.

could u make it so i can still enable windows live and be able to go online with my graphics mods?

It's XLiveLESS so the MP is totally disabled.

Hey RealPCGamer, when using XLiveLess with the latest 1.0.3.0 patch are you able to use mods without any problems? If I so much as modify one file GTA IV crashes after 5 minutes with the error about "Invalid Resource Detected". Do we still need the empty filelist.pak to enable mods? Am I missing something here? What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Whether you use xLiveless or not filelist.pak must be present and must be full and original when using the GTA4 v1.0.3.0 patch. As far as I know Rockstar has reimplemented the filecheck and the files are mapped by the filelist.pak so now it must be present and full. I suppose the filelist.pak file itself could be modified but it may now be checked for size and content so modifying the file may not work now even if you could modify it.

The short answer is that you ordinarily cannot modify or replace the filelist.pak file although when running the game as SP or offline you may be able to modify some of the data files. I don't know whether modifying the data files actually works even in SP with the v1.0.3.0 patch. It didn't with the v1.0.2.0 patch unless you used an empty filelist.pak file but you can't do that now.

I'm not sure about any of this, that's just what I have read in this forum. After reading the above I realize I haven't actually answered the question, I'm just as confused as ever.

im sorry if i sound stupid and if its mentioned in this topic but how do enable debug logging?

Use the xlive_d.dll file, renamed to xlive.dll smile.gif

As I know there is no mod that works with 1.0.3.0 patch. (.asi, ScriptHook, etc)

But if you just edit the file like editing handling, visualsettings you can do it without the patched filelist.pak.

Does anyone know of a mirror for .95b? The site appears to be down. Or can someone upload it to rapidshare or megauploads or something. Thanks! I am trying to use my offline GTA saves after a reformat and installing 1.0.3 seems to not let them be used anymore.

*Nevermind, found a site.

OK thank you. Wow that took a lot of work to get an answer about this. When reading the first page of XLiveLess it doesn't say anything about mods not working with the 1.0.3.0 patch. It even states that it does remove the filechecks for 1.0.3.0.

Additional features for GTA IV version 1.0.1-1.0.3:

* removed files.txt check (integrated replacement of FileCheckFix and MagicPatch)

Hello,

with xliveless 0.95 and the latest gta4 patch 1.0.3.0, I get a crash on exiting the game, Error 0xc5 (Access Violation/Segfault) in gtaiv.exe, Modulename unknown at Address 0x12f460. Since it only happens when exiting, it isn't really much of a problem, but still annoying.

Other than that, thanks for decreasing my game startup time to like a fourth smile.gif

The latest XLiveLess doesn't work for me either. I continue to get the crash with "Invalid Resource Detected" no matter what I modify or add the the GTA IV folder. I don't use MP so I could care less about it. I just want to be able to mod the game and play singleplayer like I did with 1.0.2.0.

Rockstar has to be one of the most unfriendly video game companies I've ever seen. I mean sure they listen to their customers but only in a half ass childish kind of way.

As in "You don't want cheaters in MP then FINE! Ha, now you can't change anything no matter what mode you're in. This is OUR game and if you don't like it too bad you can just not play".

That's the overall feeling I get.

Crash will be fixed as soon, as I can reproduce it.

I've got similar error after patch. I spent three hours in the debugger, trying to fix it. After reinstalling the game and applying patch, error has gone. (Looks like my hud.xtd or loadingscreens.xtd was broken in the experiments with RSC flags).

i updated gta 4 to 1.0.3.0, added xfile.dll 0.95 to game folder. game launches great(razor1911 crack), played well, but when i exiting from game having microsoft error: "Faulting application gtaiv.exe, version 1.0.3.0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0., fault address 0x0012f60..." how need to fix this?

I must say you are probably the most retarded person I've ever heard of.

I have the same problem with .95b and 1.0.3.0 but I'm not using a Razor911 crack.

Can you make the XLiveLess that works if I don't start the game as an admin? Because if I'm using yours and don'r run as an admin, the game always stopped working.

Debug or non-debug version?

Debug version can't create the log file in \Program Files\

On my system, the game installed into c:\games\GTAIV\, and it works without admin rights.

In the next version, I'm planning move the trace.log into \Documents\Rockstar Games\

Hehe, I'm not sure exactly what that means other than there was a mistake in the latest XLiveLess (I'm a hardware guy more than software). As long as you're aware I'm confident you'll be able to fix it eventually. Thanks!

I downloaded the xliveless-0.95.rar and don't really understand how to install it. There are a bunch of files in the RAR. Do all the files including the "src" folder go into the directory? Turn debuggin mode on?? Sorry. Thanks.

Just read _readme.txt or the first post inthis thread. All you have to do is copy xlive.dll into the GTAIV folder. Whats in the src folder is for people who want to make their own version of the xliveless mod. I don't think debugging is useful for us non-programmers. Although if we're having a problem with the xliveless mod we can turn dubugging mode on and then post the data here for listener to look at and see if he could figure out how to fix the problem for a future release.

@Listener:

You are aware about GTAIV.exe crashing when you close the game with the xliveless MOD in use aren't you? Since its only an exiting problem its obviously not a big deal and I usually ALT-TAB anyways. The problem seems to happen at the very end of the exiting process because the game is actually closed and your back at the desktop. You see the HDD LED almost solid on for 5-10 seconds then "This program has encountered an error...". Something to do with SecuROM I suppose?

I'm using XP SP3. I had to rename the (official MS Live) xlive.dll in the Windows/system32 folder to xlive.dll.bak and copy the xliveless xlive.dll file from the archive into the Windows/system32 folder to get it to work without crashing.

In Vista and Seven it may only be necessary to put the xliveless xlive.dll file into the game folder but you might try putting it into the Windows/system32 folder and also possibly put it into the syswow64 folder (for 64 bit OS) to stop the crashing.

Note that if you do this it will be necessary to restore the old (official) xlive.dll file in order to go back to using xLive with a live connection. That's why you renamed it instead of overwriting it.

Non-debug version (xlive.dll)

The GTAIV install dir is in default state (C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV)

What do you copy?

Don't copy the folder "userXXXXXXXXX", but copy the files inside that "userXXXXXXX" folder.

It should work

listener...HELP!!!

My problem is described it this thread:

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=407269&st=0&

I found what I want...can someone make a lite version of xliveless that will only have this future:

Removed savefile check (you can load save file made by any offline XLive user)

That's what I need - actually I need the Online Acount-multiplayer... Can someone make this as soon as possible - in the next 3 hours for example(no I am not crazy but desperate...............)

Sorry for my bad english by the way...

well bred filly

it doesn´t work for me too, version 1.0.0.3  suicidal.gif always starts new game...

I had a similar problem, where only my OLD OLD OLD saves were loading (I was running xliveless .94 with the first patch and just changed to .95 with the third patch). You have to put your saves in Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames and they'll work.
