How to get increase in performance Gta IV

Recommended Posts

Install latest Windows 7 Beta 1 Build 7000 smile.gif More stable and smoother running than vista actually. Got 1920x1080, High, Very High, 60, 60, 60, 0 and run with only nomemrestrict in commandline.

Vista Sp1 with 15fps.

Windows 7 with 35 fps.

And im guessing alot of people will come here and say that windows 7 is bull and not stable. But i just did an upgrade of system from vista, and everysingle program, and startup programs worked after upgrade. And i will be posting some screenshots very shortly to prove my game performance in W7 smile.gif

You think 35 FPS is smooth?

What is smooth according to you then? 60+ FPS? That's silly, when i play i get around 10-20, good enough for me.

Agree with you, on GTA iv i feel 35 fps in avrage is pretty smooth. And for those other sceptics, im installing now in compabilitymode for XP sp2, very easy thing to do if someone here has Windows 7 and cant install the game. As i said before, will post screenshot as soon as possible.

45-50 atleast. 10-20 is not good enough, atleast not if you want to enjoy it to max. 30-40 is good enough for me, but it is not smooth.

But we are talking about a game whom only people with a 10000$ computer can run the game as "smooth" as you want it. Im betting most of forum users here think around 35 fps is more than good enough.

I'm not just talking about fps in GTA, but FPS in general, in any games. I could not ever enjoy playing a game with 10-20 fps, not GTA. I don't have some kind of monster computer, I just don't get the games my computer can't stand. I think it's a waste of money to get a new game that requires some sort of supercomputer to be able to play it and enjoy it. Now GTA was an exception, of course. As I've played every other GTA game in the series. 35 FPS is good enough, and fits perfect for an RTS, or something of that sort, but for a game like GTA, or a fast-paced FPS, 35 fps just don't do it.

This i can agree on. If you say it like that ofcource 35fps aint nearly good enough for a game like this. But, like you said, this is an exception becouse of the high requirements for the game.

i never understood this urge for realy hight FPS.

Film is usualy 24-30 fps, and we've never complained about that not being smooth. and im pretty sure the human brain has trouble telling the difference in frame rates over 30-40.

Tried to find confirmation on that, failed, but DID find this:

For example, in the Grand Theft Auto series, Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City have a standard 30 fps (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas runs at 25 fps) and this limit can only be removed at the cost of graphical and gameplay stability

edit: oh, and anything higher than your refresh rate is pointless.

So if your running a 60mhz monitor, or set to 60mhz in your graphics settings in GTA4, 80fps arent going to be displayed as 80fps lol.gif

i complain about film not being smooth all the time lol.gif i HATE going to the theater and being able to see every single frame. the saddest part is, the old reel to reel's run 48fps, doubling up every frame to make 24fps, why on earth are movies not filmed in 48fps then?

Wouldnt make me a pirate when its beta testing. And it is windows 7 smile.gif If you say i run stardock, wheres my stardock icon in the "taskbar" ?

But i got a problem, cant seem to run benchmark. Just start loading then crash, anybody knows this problem?. I have pics taken with print screen and fraps.

As you can see here the grapichs are as discribed, and if you come and say that this is the fps when im in "menu" then you havent tried fraps, becouse it displays same fps in menu as ingame.

If anyone wants some pictures taken other places? or have any idea of fixing benchmark i will be happy to post more screens of Gta IV on Windows 7.

Movies have motion blur to take account for lower fps. Thats why 20-15 can seem like they are running much higher fps in gta, crysis with motion blur. Also studies have show that the eye can even detect up to 200 fps in certain situations the magic 30 number is bull.

Of course it´s bs. And the film comparison stuff is pointless. Those are constant 25 fps, the problem with the game is the horrible slowdowns.
