Well, nice to see modding activity is starting to grow for GTA V on PC!

Im preety sure once the key is found in the .EXE or somewhere we will see the first mods :)

Is it possible to change the text color in OpenIV?

if I have a dark background and theme text is not visible.

Okay folks, the first thing you need to understand and always keep in mind:
Rockstar are AGAINST modding. So far they did everything they can do prevent it or make it harder.

Now, back to business.

Any progress about RPF's today?

Any progress :rol:

Guys, the better question is how much did they obfuscate the encryption key in the executable compared to previously?

GTA5.exe is 50 MB, i guess it will take time to find key in it.

Here is no good news. GTA5.exe is encrypted or/and obfuscated to make it harder to reverse engineering it.
At the current time we didnt get encryption key for RPF yet.
Now here is no easy way to get key. It will take time.
As soon as we will get at least something I tell about it here or in OpenIV social networks.

The world moves at a quicker pace now, if we don't get our hands on the tools, sadly YouTubers will and use that content solely to make clickbait videos whilst those of us who can actually do stuff with this get left behind waiting.

You can say "Thank you" to Rockstar if you want. They choose GTA Online over the modding.
We are here work as hard as we can now (Please do not forget we all have full time job to do).

The key is only the first step, please do not hope next will be easier.

Mr.PhillipsLS

Yeah well next, modders will have to sort out the files inside the rpf's and do a lot of research I guess. Wish good luck to everybody! :)

One question: Do those "crackers" also have to find out the encryption key for GTA V?

I do not know how to open * .rpf files, but this should be in the file common.rpf

data/effects/ptxclipregions.dat

data/visualsettings.dat

data/tune/tunables.json

data/ui/fontmap.xml

and more...

Godspeed to you guys, I hope you guys can get into the .rpf files as soon as possible. Let's hope the files in the .rpf's aren't encrypted as well...

Good luck goodnts. They might have gone to great lengths on the exe. Apparently they are already being beaten by a trainer that uses memory locking and that works on GTAOnline.

And than to think that modders on here would have been more than willing to prevent their mods from being used online (myself included).

Serves them right.

To assist them in protecting GTA Online, this may work.

-Modified RPF's can't be used by the normal exe.

-You have to use a special modified exe which can load modded RPF's.

-The modded exe can't get into a GTA Online public lobby.

That is what I was worried about. That's sad.

They did it on purpose - to make modders sad.

this is something sad to hear . maybe they thought they could replace the modding community with DLC . if this is the case then this is definitely wrong . GTA without mods is not GTA . i'm sure that if some people hear they can't install their favorite Ferrari or their favorite Caddy in game they will not buy the game . starting with me ..

Yes you're right, files are checked by a CRC

This is from exe:

commoncrc:/data/ai/scenarios.meta commoncrc:/data/contentpatch.xml commoncrc:/data/materials.dat

We need modding, but we need to respect GTA Online. So we will need a modded exe which has no checks and Online disabled.

Hopefully, we can make a custom GTA Online that runs through a completely different server. That way we can mod and not affect regular GTA Online.

Another way to protect Online is to wait for a patch, then crack the previous exe to allow modded files.

I want to convert some really really nice old classic cars to GTA SA so bad.

That Online kinda ruins it for us all modders.

Looks like we're stuck at an impasse for a while, hope it was worth it Rockstar, killed all interest I had for this game on PC.

The thing is, I don't want GTA Online to be ruined but modding it would be fun. There are a few things that I want to do modding wise playing MP with my friends in a private match or a custom Online client.

-Mess around with a trainer like in IV (What if director mode allowed for other players to join?)

-Play the game where we all have a custom car pack and do some races or mess around in free mode.

The stuff below really needs to be done by Rockstar.

-Undo the GTA Online downgrades.

*More varied vehicle spawning like SP

*Restore missing vehicle spawns from SP (747, Airtug, Golf Cart, etc...)

*Working cable cars at Mt Chilliad

*AI aircraft and boats

*Animals

*Face plant into a wall

*Dolphin dive/rag doll button

-Make the large cargo plane obtainable so I can load up players in the back and have them drive out the back on dirt bikes.

-Fix the physics so AI vehicles can't push you around like your nothing. (I think Rockstar put this in the game to make cops harder and were lazy about it.)

-Enable all Story mode interiors and enable the aircraft carrier and yacht in free mode.

If Rockstar would give modders an isolated GTA Online where progress doesn't save, they could get ideas to make GTA Online better from modders that want to make mods that make GTA Online better and don't necessarily want to cheat.

Do you still think it will take a years to open GTA V archives? Think OpenIV.

Depends, will it take years before you release it? I see YouTubers are already making videos about this, sign of the times when they get these programs before us!

Hi Goodnts, this is really good work you have there? And really really good speed considering that the game was recently out.

I know I'm probably getting ahead of myself here, but if you can somehow get the openformats stuff working soon and we can create custom objects it would be really huge. :)

Just a reminder. It's not all about access to the content inside RPF archives. Models and textures are sure using completely new format which has to be researched too. Remember how we got Max Payne 3 export script just 2.5 weeks before GTA V PC release?

Right now just the ability to view/listen to textures/text/audio is all we need to start getting some work done, especially in the case of the removed music stuff, etc, that will keep me busy for a few hours and is something people want to read.
