Is it possible that OpenIV needs Windows support to show Japanese? You might have to go and install Japanese language support in Settings.

Another request. Is there any chance to add support for dats in GTA IV (in pc\audio\config) the dats 11-16 (and speech.dat, which opened is gibberish)?

It would allow to make merged old and new vladivostok radios, expanding soundtrack length etc.

Simple exporting russian.gxt to openformats and then back importing to gxt causes this in GTA IV

Since the last OpenIV update,

I get these errors when open up the asea ytd file. It doesn't matter if its a modded one or original. Other files seems to work. But the asea.ytd is the one i need to open.

XcvwwXJ.png

When i try to view the asea.yft file and also _hi.yft, i get this:

e6HaK92.png

I did a fresh display driver reinstall to make sure its not my fault.

But that doesn't helped.

Once i saw that one of the errors called AccessViolation, i tried to run OpenIV as Admin. And see there, no problems. But that is not useful without drag&drop features. And something must go wrong while developing the last updates that it have problems with specific files. Maybe i should try to rename the asea.ytd?

EDIT: I tried to rename the file, but that doesn't help. I have the feeling that some YFT files became to Admin rights must have. I also checked if all RPF Files and folders got write/read access from me. No problems there.

Seems now, after R* has updated GTA IV to Complete Edition and made it linked to their Rockstar Game Launcher, now appears neither main game nor episodes can be modded anymore! What mean - if someone try to mod any files / textures in IV, TLaD or TBoGT, the game appears do be cannot be launched in any way before RGL replaces modded files (and thus erasing any mods installed in game). So please OpenIV: release a "mods" folder for GTA IV Complete Edition activated by OpenIV.asi ASI plugin, similar to one for GTA V, making back possible installing mods in GTA IV CE without getting mods removed / disabled constantly by Rockstar Game Launcher.

police

police2

police3

police4

policeold1

policeold2

pranger

But in the game I see just police, police4, policeold1, policeold2, fbi, pranger

Hello OpenIV Team.

I'm not sure if this is a known issue, but as long as OpenIV.ASI is loaded in GTA5 (tried on builds 877 and 1868.0), anything that enables multiplayer map data will either crash (examples: Simple Trainer, Menyoo) or return an access violation exception (Single Player Apartments). Sadly, I need OpenIV.ASI for update.rpf and x64 mods to work, like AddonPeds.

This leads me to believe that OpenIV.ASI pages GTA Online data as memory protected from reads and writes. Can you do something about this?

Is YCD editing still a possibility at this point or has the focus moved to RDR2 for now? Either way I'm extremely grateful OpenIV is still alive after all these years.

This is not an OpenIV.ASI issue, it does nothing to gta online memory.

Yes, we will continue to implement new features for GTA V.

OpenIV 4.0.1

Today we are happy to announce the release of OpenIV 4.0.1, the minor release with focus on better games support and stability.

Since this is a minor release without new features, we do not have new video for you today.

Installation and updates improvements

With this release, we are starting to rollout our new install and update system. Here are the improvements from this first step:

  • The setup package is now smaller.
  • Download speed for updates from this version to the future version should be faster than previous.

Our future improvements for install and update system includes:

  • Small partial patches support. This will allows us update some files of OpenIV (like RDR 2 filenames databases or localization packs) without updating whole application.
  • Different update channels support. This will allows us to provide BETA versions before general release.

Those improvements planned to arrive later this year.

Red Dead Redemption 2 support

For Red Dead Redemption 2 support, our goal was to provide better user experience. We focused on two things: file names and bug fixes.

In OpenIV 4.0.1, we added many names for files, audio tracks and some of text keys. Modding community found and provided many of those names and strings. To keep track of all the names and other strings we created new GitHub repository that everyone can use and contribute. You can find it here – https://github.com/OpenIV-Team/RAGE-StringsDatabase, in this repository you can see all the names and strings that currently known by OpenIV, they are divided into text databases. Besides strings, it also contain set of small tools that allows you to work with those databases and makes it easier to add new strings yourself. Work is still in progress, currently there is not much documentation.

Other changes for RDR 2:

  • We fixed an issue where it was not possible to run Red Dead Redemption 2 from OpenIV.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in OpenIV crash when trying to open some of the RDR 2 audio files.
  • We fixed an issue where OpenIV incorrectly exports multichannel audio from RDR 2.
  • We fixed an issue where OpenIV was not able to work with some textures in RDR 2.
  • We added ability to export META/PSO files to XML format from file context menu.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition support

Recently Rockstar Games updated GTA IV to Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition and now we provide better support for this version:

  • We added ability to view Episodes (The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony) animations and cut scenes when OpenIV work with GTA IV: Complete Edition.
  • We fixed an issue where it was not possible to run GTA IV: Complete Edition from OpenIV.
  • We added more key names for GXT entries.

General changes, improvements, and fixes in OpenIV 4.0.1

  • We fixed an issue where it was not possible to run Grand Theft Auto V (Epic Games Store Version) from OpenIV.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in OpenIV crash while opening some modes and textures in GTA V.
  • We fixed an issue where OpenIV did not update size of embedded archive when all files removed from it.
  • You can add more names and strings into OpenIV databases by editing files in your documents folder here: Documents\OpenIV\[Game Name]\Strings\ Starting with this update OpenIV will automatically reload content of those files without restart.

You can find change log for this version on our bug-tracker here.

UI Localization

We have an instruction how to translate OpenIV into your own language and we are calling for you to do so. You can find the localization guide on GitHub. There is no differences between 4.0 and 4.0.1.

Special thanks to our supporters

We want to say thank you to all our supporters on Patreon and other platforms.

This release is supported by:

I am getting an Application error (blue screen) when I converting xml to ymap. As soon as I drop the ymap xml document inside of custommaps.rpf, I get the error.

Wonder if Good-NTS could a add bulk add/replace files feature to OpenIV. Say you want to replace an outfit/uppr ODR with several identical ones for a Max Payne 3 playerped.rpf mod, but you couldn't be bothered to do them one by one.

You can raplace/add many files at the same time, just drag them into OpenIV, or use Add dialog and select several files.
