Anyone else having the corrupted file problem? Did that happen with GTA IV aswell years ago? :/

The upcoming version of OpenIV will come with ability to view fragments (vehicles) models in GTAV PC

Found the issue. Though i can add files now, the rpf file still gets corrupted and i still have to download the update to fix it. This is weird. :(

Who says is corrupted? OpenIV? Game? Launcher?

In III-era, and I heard that in V too, more than one file may be read from the img (in this case rpf, eh?) and those must be continous. I don't know how V is coded or how RPF is structured, i.e. if R* added means to allow empty blocks between files, but fragmentation can indeed cause crashes when the game thinks some file follows another but it doesn't because the archive is fragmented. People were saying rebuilding was useless in III-era imgs for decades and now we know that isn't true.

Oh common, GTA IV & GTA V is not III-era games.

I know how my code works and I pretty sure how the game works.

While I doing my test I never rebuild anything and everything work just fine.

Cool as f*ck. Also interesting to see the interiors in such a detailled way.

The launcher downloads the update, which means the file got corrupted. However, also when i edited the file, and try to reopen it, OpenIV says the file is corrupted. :/

GooD, have you guys also find out why some files, especially those 16MB files are corrupted when trying to open them?

When launcher downloads the update means it have file check function, and we have solution for this issue in next version:

It seems like DVD and/or warehouse version check every files and revert it when if modified.

To resolve this issues in future update we will come with "mods" folder solution:

For example if you want to edit some file in update.rpf you copy your update RPF into mods folder this full path:

"GTAV\mods\update\update.rpf"

Now you edit this update.rpf and OpenIV.asi will force game to load this copy instead of original.

So you will backup and easy way to restore original game also game will not re download your modded files.

But, on other side if OpenIV says file is corrupted. I need full steps to reproduce to fix it.

Probable they just corrupted and even game does not use it.

Any idea when it'll be released? Looking forward to being able to mod using openiv without launcher redownloading (disc version)

Hey GooD-NTS, I know you are a busy man, but I was wondering, are there any clues of the undamageable roofs and doors of cars in those files? Is it integrated in the carmodels?

Hey GooD-NTS, i think you said a while back that some .awc sound files were acting strange with bad headers and stuff like that.

I thought about it, and took a look to the main GTA IV modding websites to see what sounds were changed and downloaded the most, and the result was obviously : weapons.

Which leads to my main question, do the sound files in x64\audio\sfx\WEAPONS_PLAYER.rpf are looking f*cked up ? Because that's honestly close to the only sound files we will ever need to modify.

Sorry, I can't say when anything will be released because I don't even know it by myself. Actually, no one knows.

I hope few weeks or so...

I have no idea where it can be. Sorry, I can't help with this quest.

And I guess you never edit this \Grand Theft Auto V\update\x64\dlcpacks\mpheist\dlc.rpf or this dlc.rpf\x64\data\effects\ptfx_hi.rpf archive right?

Glad that we will be able to view models.

Hopefully soon, we will be able to have custom vehicles. I'd like a real life vehicle pack. Heck, maybe some modifications to Los Santos, SA to turn it into Los Angeles, CA. But a cool vehicle mod would be making the heist yacht a driveable boat, with interior and everything. That would be fun in an MP match.

But a mod for this game that would be amazing would be The Crew's map in GTA V. Or the RDR one too. Add Liberty City to the list. Hopefully LC could be an add on map that is far from SA.

@TrustedInstaller

yes, we are talking about GTA V of course

That is wonderful. I hope that you will make LC so it:

-Doesn't replace the normal map.

-Has the TBOGT Map Updates, with my texture pack which restores PC quality textures to TBOGT. (Adding the map updates on GTA V should be a piece of cake as we can load maps on top of maps.)

-Placed far north east from Los Santos.

-Map restrictions which prevent you from leaving removed so you can fly to LC.

If that can't be done, I wonder if it's possible to swap out the map and water table without exiting the game.

As for RDR's map, I hope to see peds, weapons, and animations too. Would be nice if we could rode horses and drive wagons too. (The horse mod would work on the normal GTA V too, to add functionality to the horse racing track.) I hope that eventually, i will be able to free roam the RDR map without GTA V's modern elements spawning naturally. (Would be funny once in a while to spawn them with a trainer.) But I really would like to see The Crew's map in GTA V. That would be amazing, and could inspire Rockstar regarding the next GTA.

Anyways, keep us updated on you're progress.

May I propose a small improvement on the global search feature? It's really useful, but as far as I can see if you are trying to export multiple files with the same file name, they'll be overwritten in the order they are exported. Any chance you could add a tick or something that will automatically unpack them in respective folder structures or rename them to prevent overwriting?

What does "rebuilding the archive" do exactly? It's working even without rebuilding. Is that really necessary?

I remeber in IV I got errors without doing this but now it looks like it's not really necessary. :monocle:

Archive that wasn't rebuilt may have unused space - space that isn't used by any file.

When archive is rebuilt, it will have no unused space, no unused space between files.

I can't tell if it's neccessary in GTA V since I haven't seen the code loading the RPF file.

Maybe even Alexander Blade made his code for loading modified RPF in such a way that it checks if position of next file equals to position + size of current file.

However I can tell it was neccessary in GTA III, VC and SA - there was a code simply assuming that each next file would be coming after another, without checking if there is any unused space between and that's the reason why archive had to be rebuilt.
