Anyone know what ondemandpartitions.meta on common.rpf is? They seem to be actual mount points for something in the engine.

Probably just a left over. On the PS3/360 versions, the main .rpf files were called "part0.rpf", "part1.rpf", etc.

Hope I'm asking this in the right place, but are the model formats encrypted/compressed in any way?

Let's just point out that the whole bitch session started with open-source requests (a lot of which has since been deleted). Don't pretend it's always been about documentation.

Correct.

I'm replying because I have made 2 harsh posts in here, both aimed at the recent influx of parasites harassing the team for anything and everything, like entitled children who only ever learned one thing growing up, that if they hassle mommy long enough she eventually lets them suck on her tits.

I agree they should potentially post documentation for modding IV, but when it comes to the source code I will always support them in saying no.

I should also point out, that they're not the only people on these forums with Rage modding secrets that are keeping all the information secret, are they ? but they're sure as hell the only ones being pressured for it. :monocle:

maybe if a few moaning people actually took the time to involve themself in learning the Rage stuff themself, instead of depending on one team, then maybe the Rage modding information would be further widespread than it is, but people got f*cking lazy on these forums and prefer to be spoon fed instead of getting off their arses and learning it for themself, and then they run around bitching when they don't get what they want and start creating excuses for it.

what excuse has anyone on these forums got for not learning this stuff for themself ? ....................... none, other than they're too f*cking lazy !!!

I'll give you guys a clue, it starts with opening the GTA 'IV' folder

People have done that (LibertyV) and as soon as they release their work, the OpenIV team will come along and release stuff they've refused to release all along. Besides, what's the point in researching the same sh*t that's already been researched? We shouldn't be here to compete against one another about who can research the most and who done the most work, we should be putting our minds together and using each others resources as a way to improve modding overall, but it seems some peoples egos are too big to let that happen.

In other news, we now have a dedicated thread about whether OpenIV should go open source or not. From now on, all of these arguments go here. Any posts about OpenIV and open source in this thread will be moved there.

The whole point in research is multiple angles of attack and understanding, rather than a single viewpont.

anyway, I'm fed up pointing out that the forum is filled with parasites looking to get their grubby little maulers on code so they can recompile it and then release it behind a survey site.

On Topic,

just wanted to post a screenie to say thanks to the Open Formats team for all their hard work over the years, and also to show and prove that I'm putting their tool to good use for my own personal hobby of modding GTA, thanks :D

OXL0XdC.jpg

I f*cking love learning this sh*t for myself, I get the greatest sense of achievement when I don't have someone holding my hand.

is now possible to read the scripts? I want to see the scripts of content creator
And is there any way to use OpenIV to view files from the PS3 version without the full game? I have only one update.rpf of the ps3 version
edit: extracted fm_race_creator.csc,fm_race_creator.csc, fm_deathmatch_creator.csc,creator.csc but i cannot open this files. does anyone know how to open them?

Stupid question maybe.

GooD-NTS, since you guys have the key for decryption and knows where in the executable to find it - couldn't you guys just replace it with your own key? (I can't for my life find it, even though I found information about how it was obfuscated in Xbox and PS3 before...)

I don't know aything about RPF or RAEA, but I assume that the decryption key you've found have a matching encryption key that R* have not published anywhere in the executable, right?

Since you know how to decrypt, AES something something, couldn't we:

1. Decrypt all game data with the current decryption key

2. Generate new key-pair

3. Encrypt all game data with new key pair

4. Patch GTA exe with new decryption key

? :p

You're talking about re-encrypting about 60GB of data, which takes time and disk space. The average mod user likely won't want to go through that just to install a couple of car mods. Plus future game updates would have to be re-encrypted as well. Updates to gtav.exe would require re-patching it after someone works out where it needs to be patched again.

Yeah... No doubt that it would be a PITA, but I would gladly do it if it would work. Disk space is cheap these days, so that's not really a problem, neither would time be. (I want my handling mods, damn it!)

Anyhow, if the crypto actually consists of a key-pair (some sort of asymmetric encryption) and R* holds on to their encryption-key I don't see how we're ever going to get it. Though I don't know enough about cryptography...

It's take over 14 hours, 37 min, 12 sec, on Core 2 Duo. Over 5-7 hours on Core i3 and 2-4 hours on Core i7. (Oh, and btw. It need over 95GB~ when this whole rpf's are unpacked)

I'm all for this one theory of "hot-loading" files, so to speak. Instead of using RPF files, it can be a folder that has all of its contents loaded.

This sounds much easier to me rather than having a million rpf mods everywhere!

This might sound incredibly stupid to the developers who know about this stuff but anyway, but what if you could somehow make GTA V bypass the encryption-key checking that the game does upon initial loading (maybe by EXE editing, although that might be illegal) and from there on just be able to mod the RPF files without the need of re-encryption? Again, I have zero knowledge about all of this so don't be harsh on me.

From what I know that's basically what they're trying to do. It's just that figuring out how is very hard.

Yes, it would also save time. Imagine having to repack those large compressed files every time you want to change a value for a cars handling.

I would love a mod loader. Or we can load mods the same way DLC are loaded.

I just hope that we can get into the files soon. The physics in this game piss me off.

-A little cop car can stop a firetruck.

-Really fast super cars don't go up to their actual speeds advertised on the in-game internet. Only half.

-Vehicles don't deform like IV.

i wouldn't be surprised if once again we had a hardcoded cap. but the top speeds are same as in handling file so that WILL change in future :)

I believe the hard coded max speed cap is somewhere around 360 MPH according to the vehicle control scripts speedometer. I can work with this. I will say though, I will definitely make the jets go that fast. Hydra and the Lazer. So we will be able to make realistic handling lines. The planes may be a tad bit slower, but the cars will have their actual top speeds. I don't know of any car that reaches 360 MPH.

Information about RPF editing:
Rockstar a step ahead of us. In latest patch they not just make ScriptHook not workable but also cut a half of ways to mod the game, we even don't release anything but they already patch it.

Before the latest patch game was able to load unencrypted archives, now it crashes.
And load even doesn't mean you can actually mod the game, it load archives but refuses to use files in it.

The decrypted archives was one of the way we develop to get modding. Now they cut this way. We still have few ways which we continue to develop.

Rockstar really hates modding those days. We did not give up yet.

they want us to give in and buy their 2000€ dlc:s to have something custom :(

dlc:s that are yet to be done + revealed.

if they were smart enough, theyd start selling some of the file editing tools they have. that way they could milk us modders :(

Now I'm getting worried... Something told me Rockstar was gonna tie up some loose ends when it came to modding, and we can't even edit the RPFs yet. I'm gonna call it right now - Rockstar is not gonna let us mod GTA V, and will keep patching the EXEs every chance they get. This is gonna kill the GTA modding community and this'll likely be the last GTA I will play if this happens, but I'll keep hope.

Now I'm getting woried, too. Thanks for not giving up ... I really appreciate your efforts and work. Keep it up please! You will find a way to mod GTA V!

If you find no way to mod it, there's still the possibility to concentrate on the first version of GTA V (before patches).

Привет, земляк! I propose to stop selection on the version before patches. Otherwise, we will wait for modding till doomsday

I can say to Rockstar that I not gonna buy GTA V again on PC when modding is impossible and that I never spend a cent on shark cards.

I have GTA V for PS3 and I'am dissapointed by the game because of the weak story, bad AI of NPCs especially the police system and the downgraded physics. I still can not believe that they could ruin a GTA so damn hard after the Rage-masterpieces GTA IV, MCLA, RDR, MP3

GTA Online was a dissapointed to me because they implement a pay to win system and the fact that the servers can't handle the game is so absurd because Rockstar set the focus on their cash printing machine GTA Online but they don't wanna invest in the infrastructure

Thanks for your persistence, GooD-NTS and team. It's very, very appreciated.

On a positive note, Scripthook's already here and it already allows a degree of modding way beyond what Rockstar finds acceptable. They changed the native hashes on the latest patch and it took Alexander Blade just two days to fix that (and add the feature of reloading scripts in-game, no less). Mods like LSPD: First Response are already possible and in development. Sjaak327's Simple Native Trainer is also in the works. It doesn't look like Scripthook and its Lua and .Net derivatives will be easy to stop, only to hinder momentarily (thanks, of course, to the relentless efforts of the people behind them).

Plus, there's a decent chance that, if Rockstar's anti-modding efforts continue to worsen, it will bring them quite a bit of bad publicity. Some modding videos already went viral (like the whale one) and the media will take notice. So there's that too.

Right now we can play as a Hydra-piloting cat and bomb the sh*t out of rioting pedestrians. I'd say the modding community is still winning so far.

Honestly I don't even think this is going to happen.

I know you guys are capable of doing it, but as Rockstar is making things even harder, IDK...

These things take time. The game has been out for what now? 3 weeks? ...It took 2 years to get player/ped mods working for IV.

I think the best thing to do is focus on one specific update instead of trying to keep up with Rockstars code changes. All these updates they have released are focused on fixing loopholes modders are exploiting. They haven't fixed anything game wise. So if a method was progressing in a previous patch I think it would be best to just stick with that. This way we won't have to keep playing catchup. Only those who want to mod Online will have a problem with this strategy.
