I got the newest OpenIV and I am still having the mipmap problem...

Ok, now I can rebuild "componentpeds.img" without any error (IMG file is almost the same size than the original).

But in game, it don't works, the game loads in loop and nothing happens (well, I guess it is because of file modification).

 

I'm currently rebuild this img without any modifications of files, and game still work fine.

And you no need rebuild archives after each change.

 

FAIL!

I added new glock texture file and saved...

Ok, it’s strange. Do you always have this when you edit this IMG?

 

when I show the program my game directory, the "Next" button is unclickable. So I'm kinda stuck here

nvm, just figured out that I had to restart the program

 

Before first start OpenIV you need remove "Read only" attribute from GTAIV.exe. This bug will fix in new build of OpenIV.

Yes.

 

Also, how can I open the wdr files using the model viewer? External aplication.

You need assign "model viewer" with ".wdr" files in OpenIV options. Like this:

I can't seem to replace textures in .whm files.

To replace textures in .whm files, you need:

1 - Start OpenIV, and select in main menu "Open content" function.

2 - Switch OpenIV in to “Edit mode”.

3 - go to .whm file, for example: "Game:/html/hidden/oscafe.whm".

4 - Right click on oscafe.whm and select "Edit"...

Ups... I'm forgot activate edit mode for .whm files, sorry. In next build I fix it.

On Build 159 (latest) when opening playerped.rpf on XP, other rpfs all work fine. (I don't get the error on my vista machine)

It strange, you are trying open original or edited playerped.rpf?

 

Uh, how do I opend a wtd file that I already have extracted? I can only see buttons that open IMG or RPF files.

If you about files that stored in "Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\" and "Grand Theft Auto IV\common" folders you need to use "Open content" function in OpenIV main menu.

Its edited, i changed the hands files round with SparkIV for the fingerless gloves.

 

On the vista machine though the rpf is not edited with SparkIV.

I'm so waiting to see what you figured about the textures/mipmaps.

The Hubster, I got the same error and I replaced with the original .rpf and it worked. For some reason, only with the 1.0.0.

When SparkIV saves files, it doesn't save them encrypted... because the game can load unencrypted files, so encryption is unnessesary and pointless. However, OpenIV will only load encrypted RPF files.

 

@GooD-NTS... In the RPF file, in the header, at +0x10 (16 decimal) is a DWORD which indicates if the header is encrypted or not. If its 0, don't decrypt the data. Good work btw!

I tested it, and you can see this:

Now in details:

Textures in *.wtd files have one (no it really is not one, but... never mind) field:

 

...m_nbLevels: BYTE;...

 

And if this value not equal "1" then changes will see only on highs quality. The texture what you see on this screen is originally have m_nbLevels set to "7". I change this value to "1" and I can see changes in game on the low quality.

In next hours I have public new build of OpenIV and you will can test it.

Yes I know it, and this is strange that OpenIV was unable to open unencrypted file...

That is interesting, Good-NTS... What will happen if we apply our own textures? it will auto-resize for in case you're playing at medium ? Anyway, what are the volume textures? I take the cube are the cubemaps used for reflection...

Hi,

Thank you for the help, i ve spent the night looking for texture way of modding, and i ve almost found way to manage it.

 

i am low graphic quality, i m looking for the "m_nbLevels set from "7" to "1" but i see only :

 

BYTE m_nbLevels; // +0x27 number of levels in the texture (see IDirect3DDevice9::CreateTexture)

in an internet sannybuilder's file:

http://public.sannybuilder.com/GTA4/rsc_en.txt

 

In openIV, i have numbers instead of ".dds regular_1 or 7 or 4"

for exemple ".dds 14512654"

 

hard to describe from a forum to another, now i still see old texture (yellow skirt) and the new texture but only with caméra close to character = prob of visual settings?

Update changes:

  • fixed bug with RPF files
  • fixed bug with getting information form GTAIV.exe
  • Added ability to edit «Levels» of texture.

    (If you don’t see changes in game, set it to 1)

  • Added automatic check for updates.

    When this button is highlighted in green, this means new version of OpenIV is available.

  • Now it’s possible to edit *.WHM files.
  • Perhaps fixed other errors.

When I change the level number into something else, it doesn't change it instantly, I have to open the "change level" menu again in order for it to change and even then, the texture I see does not seem to change.

 

Also, when I change the level, the part where it says "regular" changes into a zero.

Doesn't work at all. I can't edit wtd's or whm's. Right-click -> Edit, but in the top there are just Save image and Save all, no replace, no change level.

 

Edit: Scratch that, got it working, but whenever I press Change Level I get an error.

 

Edit2: Scratch that too, it was because of windowblinds.

Does anyone know why is Niko's face texture almost completely transparent? I exported the texture and when I open it in PS, it's the correct texture, just that it's almost completly transparent.

Probably specular texture as alpha...

I believe the same way SparkIV is doing it, by resizing the texture for each level. Though in OpenIV, you can set the big version of your texture to be the first level.
