Should we have a no-disc game?

It gets quite annoying to have the disc in my drive because of the noise my drive makes when it reads the disc, it's REALLY loud.

So I Razor'd the game to get rid of it.

It's not that I mind having the disc in the drive but I don't want the disc to get scratched and become unplayable like they do over time. It'a happened to a couple of my games "Play" disc.

you don't need Rockstar to release a "legitimate" no DVD fix. There's nothing at all illegal at bypassing the copy protection on a game you legitimately own. You don't even have to go to a torrent site to find the files you need, they're available on a relatively clean and famous web site if you know where to look...

My DVD hasn't left the case since maybe 3 days after release. I play online and I save just fine. If they ever release another patch I'll have to roll back what I've done, update, and maybe use the DVD again for a few days until a new fix is out, but that won't annoy me nearly as much as having to put the damn thing in every time I want to play now.

rofl. I'd hate to see you guys play consoles.

" I dont play because I don't want my disk or drive to mess up. So my PS3/360 just sits there for eternity"

L-O-L!

Rip the disc and get the .iso or download the iso

Mount the iso on daemon tools or etc.

??????

PROFIT!!!

(As long as you're not using the crack, you did not "crack" the game.)

If you legally own the game, you may crack the game anyway you want LEGALLY.

go to www.gamecopyworld.com, download no-dvd crack or anything in similar. Follow instructions.

There is no reason to go download a whole razor/cracked whole game file just to crack it.

or buy it on steam.

The reason you need the disk in the drive is because the game doesn't have a limit on the number of activations. EA allows for no-dvd because they limit the activations.

I hate my disc being in the drive as it restricts what i can and cannot do

And that is......?

I agree genuine retail copy owners should get a No-DVD fix from Rockstar as the pirates already have the bypasses now anyway, after 2 weeks my dvd1 is starting to scuff slightly and the online checker is sufficient protection anyway.

What is the online checker protecting you from? lol.

In the game Prey they release a patch v1.4 for it and that wiped out the abilty to have the disc in the tray, a tru legit no-cd, so it isn't totally impossilbe that this couldn't happen, just have to get to v1.4 of GTA IV first tounge2.gif

Would that need a 1.2 patch first, instinst says don't hold your breath..... sarcasm.gif

and fallout 3 doesn't need the dvd either

Excuse me? I dont know where you 'bought' your game from but my official Fallout 3 DVD certainly needs to be in the drive when I want to play, and Im sure many others are as well.

However I do agree on the front that they should work out a legal way to have a No Disc executable to avoid disc wear n tear.

Are you running the game out of the launcher? I just run fallout3.exe and get no disc prompts, US collerctor's edition if that matters.

fake securom launcher - 28kb

real securom launcher (that doesn't work for me) - 4.88mb

i wonder what all that code is doing! but it sure as hell can't detect my dvd!

a lot of people are missing the point. no sh*t it's a simple task to insert discs into the disc drive. what are you? einstein? the point is often the disc can get scratched, especialy if you have wide disc trays from certain drive brands, or if you have a drive that can wear out easily, you want to only use it for installation. yes, it's easy to put a disc in, it's also easier to just run the game without it. and it doesn't take any effort at all. pirates can break the securom in halfa day, a dedicated professional team of cockstar employees should be able to do it in 2 days.

The Horror Is Alive

My GTA3 disc literally exploded in my CD drive from all the wear and tear. From that moment on, I've been using No-CDs for all my games.

plz make a legit no-dvd patch ! its only better for us who bought the game legally cause the pirates have such a no-dvd patch since.. i don't really know.. i think since a few days after release sad.gif and we legal buyers have to have the damn dvd the whole time in the drive or put that in echt time we want to play.. thats inacceptable !!

same, securom can't detect the disk just says "please use original disk not a back up copy and press retry", so i bypassed securom all together.

Mine runs without the DVD and I didn't even have to crack it ;D

(Maybe that's because I have the STEAM version)

But isn't the price to pay for that generally securom + Steam for DRM? Or is it just EA that does that with Steam releases?
