i know you guys are missing my point. Under recommended it says im fine, but under minimum it says i don't have enough? Which is right?

And yes I'm planning on getting either a 9500 gb or a 9800 gb, any suggestions?

I dunno - ask them not us

9800

people need to learn the difference (not ragging on you..but it gets asked a LOT)

never get a *500 (9500,8500,7500 ect) and expect to do gaming on it.

anything below a *600 isnt for gaming, *600 is bargain gaming card, *800 is flagship highend version.

dont look at the first number and think its better..a 8800 beats a 9500 hands DOWN.

first number is gen number, second is power...

I run a 9800gtx+ game still lags like sh*t. GG

doesn't mean its a bad card by any means.

its sure better than if you was on a 9500 right?..so dont confuse the guy with your rant.

I'd recommend a HD 3850 from ATI, cause it's cheap and comes in AGP and PCIe, and it handles GTA quite well. It's the processor that struggles with GTA, not the video card. I think your 6150 is just an integrated solution, you'll need to disable it (or your mobo will automatically) when you install your new card. Remember either to disable or uninstall that integrated chip before the full power-down and popping in the new card. Good luck! Game is fun, if your system is setup properly it won't lag on the card I mentioned.

same here!

thanks. If I get the card, are the rest of my specs ok?

yea my sons on a 3600+, 3 gigs ram, and 8800GT and it runs ok.

nothing to brag about, but its surely playable 20-25fps ish at 1440x900

is that competable to mine?

check to see if it even has a PCI-E or AGP slot first.

if its a run of the mill store brand or such..it might not have one at all..then no card will work in yours

no i know i have a slot. I have an hp pavillion a1540n. I was just curious about the specs of your pc, since you were getting pretty good fps, if I upgraded my videocard would i get similar?

not close to mine, maybe what my sons getting

I got a quad core, 4 gigs of DDR3 ram and 9800gx2 (2 vid cards in SLI) for my game. so you wouldnt get close to my score.

but it should be playable, long as you or your parents dont have 40 things in the systray running all the time

speaking of that....

what can you safely delete in the task manager under processes?

and why would I need more ram to play?

less hitching ingame to load things is all..

and what you can delete under there is TOTALLY different for everyone else.

but what you can disable is startup is usually everything...you can take out every listing in the "run" folders in the registry, and in your windows startup folder..and windows will run fine. you might loose your hotkeys on your keyboard, or wireless panel if you use one..but windows will run just fine..and you could re add them if needed.

you have to figure that out there are 500000 different things that can be in there..we have no idea what your has on it

some people use MSconfig, i myself dont like it, it only disables them..but its the safer way to test what you can remove.

run "msconfig" and goto startup..TECHNICALLY anything in there isnt need for windows to run like I said.

thanks very much you've been extremely helpful. But the real thing that i'm concerned about is the GHz. I have 2.2.

Sorry I'm really quite a noob. My pc is a Hp pavillion a1540n desktop. I just don't want to buy the 9800 gt and still not be able to run GTA. If you wouldn't mind checking, and I really do appreciate this, would you mind seeing if just by upgrading the video card I would be able to run it? Because now It just gets .5 fps. I really apreciate your help, you are a valued member of the forums.

itshould be ok..its the same CPU my son uses.

its not all powerful..but it will work

but that vid card is the first that has to go

you could get a quad core OC'd to 4ghz and still not play it with that video card.

thanks very much. Does your son have it stock except the video card? And would you recomend a 9600 1gb or a 9800 1 gb. Really, thanks again.

doesn't have the same machine, his is built by me..but same proc..so about the same.

id go 9800 myself.
