mpf Posted December 27, 2008 Share Posted December 27, 2008 Hello guys. I've decided to register here because I'm having this problem. I can't get to 100%! How many noobs like me came here saying the same thing? Loads and loads I presume... But I think my case is a bit different. I've checked 2 or 3 different guides/checklists on how to get to 100% and I've got everything those guides say I need to get there. Some time ago I had 98% and I thought there was nothing left to do. Then I started to check those guides and then I came across the "Test Track/Trial by dirt glitch". Only the Test Track record was on my stats, so I did both races again, beat both records and now both races are mentioned on the stats. The two races are listed as having the same record time, which is wrong, but I know that's not a problem (at least that's what other people say). After this I was still stuck at 98%. "Wtf?" . Well, checked the web further and further and found out that I need to complete the rifle range OUTSIDE the "The Shootist" mission. That's what I did then, got exactly 45 points (lol) and to confirm that the chalenge was complete I was rewarded with the "fast reload" or whatever it is called. 100% complete? No! Just 99%... I don't know what to do anymore... I've got all 15 properties, all those which are supposed to generate money are doing it (including pole position), delivered 51 "ice creams" (only 50 are needed to pass the mission), passed level 12 on vigilante, same for paramedic, level 10 for pizza boy, 100 taxi fares completed... All missions are complete, all races done (including the 3 RC races, 4 heli checkpoints, the 3 stadium events, the 6 races at sunshine autos, PCJ playground, cone crazy, checkpoint charlie), all 100 hidden packages found, all 35 rampages passed, all 36 unique jumps done, 15 stores knocked off... The only thing on my stats still at 0 is the stoppie, since I never managed to do one Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated, thanks. Loads and loads I presume Indeed, which prompted this guide to be made- I'm stuck at 99% guide You may want to check that out, it has a 100% check list, as well as provides you with everything you need to know/do in order to get 100%. You haven't cheated at all have you? Some cheats do not affect your save, but other major helpful cheats will affect your save, and will not allow you to complete the game 100%. Looking at what you have said, you haven't listed the Chopper Checkpoint missions. There are four of these missions, and they become available when you gain access to the West Island. They are located in Downtown, Little Haiti, Ocean Beach and Vice Point. Have you completed all four of those? If not I'd gladly tell you the exact locations of each so you can locate and complete them. They are very easy, as you don't have a time limit to complete them. And I presume the "Ammunation Challenge" you mention is the rifle range I talk about in my 1st post. Correct me if that's not the case. @flicko: that's one of the guides I talk about in my 1st post, I had already checked it. And yup, all 4 heli checkpoint missions complete (I say it on the 1st post ). I didn't use any cheats at all, in fact that's the 1st time I've played VC without using any cheats. thx for your help. radioman Posted December 27, 2008 Share Posted December 27, 2008 Did you remember to exit the vehicle after doing the 50 "ice cream" sales, because that mission is not counted as complete until you exit the vehicle.-ie. is the ice cream asset generating money? Also, did you get 1st place in the 8-track(Hot Ring) race at the stadium?-because, if memory serves me right, it rewards you at the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, but 1st place is counted for 100%. One thing that's not mentioned in your first post are the payphone Assasination missions-did you get all 5 of them done? Like perhaps you have let a friend/relative play on your save game, and they cheated and saved the game? I don't know, it seems you have everything you need. radioman, 8-track? More like 0-track! More like 0-track Yeah, I got the name of it confused with the SA one-In SA it's called 8-Track, but in VC it's called Hot Ring. Also, Demerest has said a long while back, that cheats will not stop you from 100%-except for the peds riot ones, with i'm not sure if VC has or not. Hope this helps. Yeah VC has it, and when I first went on Vice city, I triggered every single cheat I could find, so if a friend/relative has been on his save game, the same could have happened which is preventing him from reaching 100%. But this is just me making assumptions, as I can't see anything else wrong with his save. If that is not the case then I'd suggest re-checking everything, by running through your game again. Sometimes people trust their memory, when in actual fact they could have re-loaded and missed something off. radioman Posted December 28, 2008 Share Posted December 28, 2008 If you still can't figure out what's missing, you can alway upload the save here at GTASnP, and I or one of the other helpers can help you figure it out better. I have been through a 100% about 4-5 times with VC, so I know a lot abot what's missing. Also, the shooting range(the 100% one-the 2nd time you have to do it), will not be in your stats, that score that is in your stats is the one from the Malibu mission"The Shootist". Also, with the Test Track/Trial By Dirt missions, there is a glitch, I had it too from day one, to where you must do one first, then whatever time you got on it, when you do the next one, you must get a lower score then you got on the first one, then when you look in your stats, the scores for both will be the same.-I memory serves me right, you must do the SUV one first, then the Sanchez one.-I haven't played VC in a while, so i'm going off memory. Hope this helps. I've encountered that glitch everytime I've completed the game (which is well over 10 times) and it hasn't prevented me from achieving 100% once. So I don't think that will be his problem. The SnP idea seems like the best option as it stands, another set of eyes to check over is better than just yours. Spuds725 Posted December 28, 2008 Share Posted December 28, 2008 (edited) As long as each (trial by dirt and test track) are in the stats (which he says they are)-- that should not prevent 100%-- I've had this glitch every time too (which I think qualifies this a bug, not a glitch) on PS2. Cheats do not affect 100% also, only in the fact that some cheats cannot be turned off and ones like Peds riot can prevent you from completing certain tasks-- like taxi or certain missions. If you have carefully went over my guide (it is very complete), and cannot figure it out, as stated in the last 2 posts-- upload your save and I'm sure someone will figure it out-- It could just be a safe house not purchased-- 5 on the first island, 2 on the second-- there should be 17 save points on your map-- 2 given safe houses, 7 purchased safe houses, 8 purchased assets. I'm betting you missed something in my 99% guide-- if not, then I may need to add something to it. //edit// Re-reading your post, you may have 2 things left-- if memory serves me, with rounding--the 2 things left gives you greater then 98.5% which rounds to 99%-- one thing left gives you greater then 99% actually-- but it rounds it down to 99%... since you completed rifle range it made your % switch from 98 to 99%. you may have 2 things left... I want to say VC's mission points count as .57% per task--- I can't recall exactly... sorry. I do have a copy of the one for GTA III.... As, anyone that has read this section knows, I have a copy of ancestral recall that works now.... but when I first tried it on this save (yes I saved this save)-- it did not show anything. When messing around with ancestral I found that if you had just used shatterstorm (hidden package finder), that it somehow messes up ancestrals ability to read what is left-- don't ask me how... but I found that if I did anything game wise (as far as starting a mission) then re-save, ancestral would work.... so just I tried the same thing on the above save (started and ended Paramedic and saved) and ancestral worked on it... it showed that the RC Baron Race was not done (the save does shows a time in the stats already so I'm not sure of the issue)-- So I loaded up timevault and ran over to the mall... passed RC baron race and Tada... 100%... FYI-- this is the save that got under my skin bad enough to look so hard for Ancestral Recall... I think this might be the right time to thank mpf for his unintentional incentive to get you committed to locating the Ancestral recall device.
