eagle016
What a lovely Christmas mourning, Ripping open a brand new Evga Nvidia geforce 9800gtx+, I screamed, Ripping open a gigabyte S-series motherboard, Ripping open a brand new core 2 duo, Ripping open a brand new 2 gigs of ram...... Spending hours installing all this in hopes that finally I Can play gta faster than 15 FPS like on my 7600GS.............. Figuring out no matter what I change the video settings to the game won't ever go over 15 fps......... Priceless. I just want to give you guys at R* toronto a Big thank you for ruining my Christmas, I know I am big whiner and I am the only 1% of people who are having problems with the PC version. Sucks to be you kid, my Christmas was great ... and GTA 4 runs maxed out at avg of 45fps @ 1680x1050. *points and laughs* Thats why you are not playing it. I finished it twice already, thats why I am not playing it at the moment. You are not playing it at all and when you do it runs like sh*t and looks like sh*t. All I can do is laugh at you. If I wanted to play it all day long without living my life I could have already beat it twice, The game runs obviously you didn't even read the thread I can max out the graphics the problem is the FPS doesn't increase no matter what settings the game runs at, Enjoy being such a loser you could complete the game twice and still have time to try and make people feel bad over the internet. He answers your question as to why he's not playing it so you bash him. Okay... Also, you're statement "According to this picture my pc could play the game 4 times at once." Umm... yea... that does NOT mean that you can run the game "4 times at once" by having a little above recommended settings. You don't REALLY mean you think that your score means you should be able to run multiple instances of the game, DO you? To run 2 instances of GTA:IV (if even possible) you would need about a 7GHz Quad Core, 4GB VRAM and 6-8GB RAM. 4 instances... roughly 18GHz Quad Core, 8-10GB VRAM and 12-14GB RAM. Basically... impossible. Yes it was a joke considering It says the my settings surpass the recommended by 4 squares. Look for a lil sense of humor before you come in here trying to bash everyone your self. Yea... because when you say something over the internet you can CERTAINLY tell when someone isn't being serious. Usually when they are joking or whatnot, they show it. You didn't... thus people will take it as you ACTUALLY thinking it will run at 4 instances. Maybe it was a joke, maybe it wasn't. If it was, next time use some indication of it being a joke. If not, then well good try at trying to cover it up. Also, have you tried some of the commands? That might help if it's limiting you, since I've read other people using them to get their system past the frame lock.
nick18
Okay, but what do you reckon, does my NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT have any chance ? I was running the game with 10-15 fps on my old 7600gs so you should be able to play. Another reason why I am bewildered that it still runs so f'n slow. Zut
Could you post the results of in game the benchmark? It produces a text file that you could just copy and paste in here. as soon as the benchmark started it crashed the game with this error AppName: gtaiv.exe AppVer: 1.0.1.0 ModName: gtaiv.exe ModVer: 1.0.1.0 Offset: 003da38c Tried again with the same result. Hmmm, thats very wierd. Maybe this suggests that there is some other kind of problem. Are you using XP or Vista? Do you have the correct service pack? (SP3/SP1) Just a guess, but I'm afraid I'm stumped. It really SHOULD work though. Your system definitely IS good enough. Dont give up
Gutslab
That sucks. But maybe it's just me, I'm sure you have the seen the 100s of threads on here and all the complaints. Knowing that those with HIGH end computers can't get the game running for sh*t, maybe you should have told your parents to get you something else. I've said it before here, I will never spend another dollar on R*, not on any of their games or on anything such as upgrading to play one of their games. Most likely they're having some Christmas party with other rich folks (yes, it's after Christmas, but you can still have parties). As to Chris1508 about the 'played 2 times through', I took it as he is one of the many people that have already had the game.

I would also suggest defragmenting and turning off background processes, but I'd guess you've done those already. As a last resort you could try to contact Roackstar technical support. Ducky is King
I'm not getting into the pissing match here except to ask those involved to show atleast A LITTLE bit of maturity. With that said, what size Power Supply is in your new computer? And who makes it? Also, what is the amperage of the 12volt rail. It should be listed on the box and the PSU itself. it will say something like [email protected] For your listed specs, I personally wouldnt use anything under 650watts and 35 amps on the 12volt rail. The OTHER issue you may be running into is something that I myself have ran into. XP sometimes, doesnt install correctly. Try this, just for sh*ts and giggles, go download 3Dmark01 and run it. If your average FPS thruogh the first 'demo' is pegged at 60, or if its pegged at some other number which doesnt constantly change, your OS is installed incorrectly. Reinstall XP and start over. I have found this single benchmark to be a very reliable indicator of the performance of my PC after reinstalling XP. If I leave it and 'hope' it gets better, the OS slowly destabilizes and gaming performance sucks. The ONLY way to fix it is to reinstall XP and try again. I hope these tips help you. Actually I created an account today because I had no reason to ask why my 7600gs would only run at 15 fps, The reason why I came here allot was to try out all the tweaks etc, The fact I made an account today was because I tried to make an account yesterday and I never got my confirmation email even after emailing the site administrator. I gave up waiting today and made a new account on a new email and it worked out fine, But thanks for your brilliant intellect on this situation. Also why the hell would anyone make a secondary account just to complain? Btw ducky is king thanks for the TIPS I am pretty sure my power supply is not a 650 as I have not updated it any time recently, I have not noticed any signs of that being the problem, But I am downloading 3dmark01 right now and ill tell you what the results are thanks for the input. StingRhea
you're lucky to have all those stuff for xmas for a start, and r* didn't spoil your xmas, your presents just ain't good enough. face it - the game is future proff and your pc is good for playing maybe a maximum 20fps. just accept that fact. dun compare it to games like crysis or fallout3, this is a totally different league. imagine if you're flying a helicopter in the game, everything below still moves, including people in shops, and there is no loading time between islands, therefore it uses alot of resources. and stop comparing to the PS3 or xbox, if you have both and you had a pc that can run the game the same fps as the console, the pc one looks much better. i completed the game in a mediocre pc worse den your that averages 12fps and had to run 800x600 enlarged. the game is just been out for a month, be patient and be grateful u have such nice xmas presents. Reinstall XP and start over. something would have to be majorly f*cked up to get 60 i get 800-900 fps! LOL
Vicetopia
Why do you think you know me? Don't try to tell me what I do and don't like about GTA4. as you have said many times over, you do not like the game I love this game. you do like the game play I like the gameplay (Beat the game and going for 100% now ) you do not like the looks and as I have pointed out many times I like the looks, especially the reflections on the cars and the physics. you still insist on coming to this section of the forums and flaming threads or hyping the pc basher. Probably because I play GTA4? Just like everyone else here.
nick18
^ I detect an ***hole. I detect a troll. as you have said many times over, you do not like the game you do like the game play you do not like the looks and as I have pointed out many times you still insist on coming to this section of the forums and flaming threads or hyping the pc basher. StingRhea you have no idea what your talking about just stfu and stop wasting your finger strength. I could play the game and I could do all that you obviously missed the whole point of the f*cking topic so to all the people who can't f'n read just stfu already no one needs your input. BTW crsis has more sh*t going on at once than gta4 how about every f*cking plant blowing in the wind shadows that have to move along with those blowing leaves. You don't know sh*t dude just stfu already about future games, Future games will be optimized to not need huge f*cking bullsh*t processers just to run it smoothly. To the op you can get it to work on your 7600. but it will be tons of effort on your part. Read the damn thread dude I have said many times I HAVE PLAYED THIS GAME FOR THE LAST MONTH ON A 7600GS. That is why I am pissed the the game runs EXACTLY the same on a 9800gtx+
nick18
Well I did the 3dmark01 It went everywhere from 50fps all the way to 400fps. So its not pegged at any one speed.
