nso
I haven't been able to play this game since I constantly got a blue screen after 15 minutes of play. The bsod stated that nvlddmkm.sys had caused a crash. I've seen a couple of other people on this forum struggling with the same issue and thus thought that I should share how I fixed it. I've previously tried basicly all the things mentioned on these forums; 3D-settings in Nvidia control panel and all the command lines you could think of (and a few you probably couldn't). But no luck. Nothing changed the situation. But now I fixed it (at least on my computer), and here's what I did; I went into BIOS and checked my RAM settings. Apparently BIOS underclocks the RAM to match your CPU FSB if your CPU FSB is lower than the mhz the RAM supports. I manually removed this lock, and set my RAM to 1066mhz. Once I entered Vista I underclocked my 8800GT with about 50mhz in the Nvidia control panel. I have no idea which one of these two changes which lead to me not getting any errors any longer, and frankly I don't care as long as I can play the game Update: It most definetly was underclocking the videocard which did the trick. logitechdog
if your getting a BSOD then go into control panel > system > advance > startup and recovery > & untick automatically restart..... so you can get the STOP: 0x000000D1 ( xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx) example... then paste 0x000000D1 into a search engine, tell you exactly why your getting one Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/387743-i-finally-fixed-the-nvlddmkmsys-blue-screen/#findComment-1058821625 Share on other sites

If you had to mess around with your ram setting to get it stable I suggest you visit the manufacturers website for your ram and download\find the specs your ram should be running at. Some high performance ram have to be run at specific settings for them to operate properly. For instance I have to run mine at 4-4-4-12 @2.1v. Also check you have your ram in the correct slots on your motherboard. So many people get it wrong. paulh008
Sorry to bring up an older thread, but I also have the nvlddmkm.sys problem. It only happened so far during the "Russian Revolution" Mission when I am in the warehouse. Thankfully, it only minimizes the game and notifies me that the driver/device (I don't remember) recovered. I have to overclock my Go 7400, but when it recovers, its back to the normal core/memory clocks, forcing me to restart my computer. Even as it's set to the normal values, it still minimizes the game and tells me that the driver/device crashed. I don't know what to do... My laptop is made so that my FSB is not changeable. I've installed the beta drivers, and tried 4 other compatible and stock drivers, all giving me the same problem... Any suggestions? JeddyH
Probably overheating if its laptop with a underpowered GPU trying to run this game Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/387743-i-finally-fixed-the-nvlddmkmsys-blue-screen/#findComment-1058968027 Share on other sites
paulh008
It's not. The GPU stays under 60 degrees. I use a cooling pad, and LN2 if it did overheat. I know overheating is out of the question.
