great boost of fps on GPU with 512 MB G-RAM

Recommended Posts

I have:

q6600 2.4 ghz

2 gb ram

9800gt 512 mb

win xp sp3

without going online you can`nt use

norestrictions- so I loaded the game with high text in low res and low draw distance - and than changed the text to low adding max res (1280-1024) and distance=20, this way the game remained in high text with the new settings (which is a nice trick).- in this high text I was able to get 25-30 fps (good Enough for my rig)

but then I added distance to 90 and I was surprised to find out that the game runs much better with 35-40 fps on high res and high text. (perfect for me)

last and important tips for all:

1. reset your win screen res to minimum

2. close your internet and all the unnessecary programs

3. set max priority to gta in win task manager (very important)

4. switch off the clip capture option in game (get more 3-6 fps)

Statistics

Average FPS: 38.02

Duration: 37.21 sec

CPU Usage: 67%

System memory usage: 91%

Video memory usage: 100%

Graphics Settings

Video Mode: 1280 x 1024 (75 Hz)

Texture Quality: Low

Render Quality: Highest

View Distance: 94

Detail Distance: 100

Hardware

Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Service Pack 3

Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

Video Driver version: 181.00

Audio Adapter: Realtek HD Audio output

Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

File ID: Benchmark.cli

note: the true text is on high (only the game thinks that this is on low- as I explained above)

overclock your CPu @ 3ghz and you will gain more FPS

how do u switch the auto capture off?

To redda2: while in game search "clip capture" under the "load game option" and "auto save option", then change from "on" to "off".

Note: I love to use " - LOL!!!

which cheap "zulman heat sink" model I should buy for doing this?

3. set max priority to gta in win task manager (very important)

If you have a X-Fi this causes stuttering audio in XP (I use YouPax's Drivers and have tried latest official ones as well)

Also Realtime is a extremely bad idea (Can cause alot of problems), High is sufficient and safe.

Setting Higher Priority also causes issues with Virus Scanners unless you tell your Virus Scanner to ignore the GTA IV Folder. (More Pop-In)

"2. close your internet and all the unnessecary programs" - that means including anti virus.

most users of gpu with 512 MB G-RAM don`t have the "X-Fi" sound card.

for all : I played 50 hours without any problems on "real time" with more 10-15 fps.

"real time option" may cause problems only if it used with extremely overclocked cpu (with bad cooler) after very long time of use.
