I have a decent computer and - although I consider myself a low form of life in the IT industry - I am a decent technician. If you want my resume I can paste the important things here. Since I'm 38 and I started with the Sinclair ZX81 expect some very long stuff. Or just share your experiences with GTAIV. Or hush now baby, and learn that by definition every software has bugs, so if you didn't experiment problems don't expect that all other people have nothing to say about being anally raped this way by Rockstar. If you're unable to feel the pain it maybe it's because you're anesthetized. But don't expect experienced people to accept things such as unjustifiably lousy performance and this bug feast. Period.

You haven't read Forbes lately have you?

 

EA offered Take-Two $25 dollars a share. In the last quarter of 2008, Take-Two has been trading at between $2 to $10 per share. They are down to their last $100 million. They spent that much on developing GTA IV in the first place. They were heavily dependent on it selling well on the PC, but it's dropping in the charts already. They tried to keep the overhead low by doing the port on the cheap and it back-fired horribly.

 

If they are to make another major project, they will have to sell assets and make lay-offs unless they turn the Xbox LIVE DLC into something stupidly profitable. But that can have drawbacks too; ask Valve about episodic content.

Yep, even things like "buy a proper PC" are getting boring. Care to know why? Because I already got a proper PC. Three of them, exactly, although only one is dedicated to gaming (and gaming alone), connected to a 32'' HDTV. And you know what? Turdist is right. Am I getting over it? No. Why? BECAUSE I PAID 50 EUROS, DAMN. I bought GTAIV, not Big Rigs!

 

If your "proper" PC is a Pentium 4/1GB RAM/Geforce 7 series card then you are either living under a rock or too stupid to understand that this game was released in LATE 2008 which means that only late 2008 hardware (aka core i7) will be able to play it at highest settings with high framerates, and yes it is capable of doing that.

 

I am satisfied from the performance I'm getting from my rig and I never expected a 100FPS so I don't consider myself buttf*cked. Alot of people are bitching because when they pull the max settings the game isn't smooth. How f*cking pathetic. Enough of the bullsh*t "DIZ GAMEZ RUNS LIK SHIOTZ ON MAH CORE I7 EXTREME LOLZOROWTF1!!! ZOMFG", we all know this ain't true, as I said new hardware can run this game fine and I've tested it myself at 4 different computers with different specs and the game runs the way it should run in every PC I tested on.

 

Having said that, the game still runs decently on older PCs and by that I mean a 1-2 year old hardware will run this game decently when you lower your settings. If you are complaining about the apps needed to run this game (.net framework/xp sp3 etc) then it's not R*'s fault. You already know that you have to install all these apps before you buy the game. I still can't deny that this game could have been optimized a bit more, but at least we should be grateful that this game made it to the PC.

 

Bottom line, if you are not satisfied with the game, then either (assuming that you bought it, if you pirated it then STFU):

1)Tweak your PC/settings.

2)Buy a new PC.

3)Sell/refund.

 

...that was my 2 cents. Go on with your bitching guys while me and many others are enjoying this awesome game!

Another Negative Review

This is getting f*cking boring. Every 2 minutes a new topic is created mocking this game. Fine, let's end this, if you don't have a proper PC, then don't bother buying this game at all. It's really that easy isn't it? or even better, buy a console. I know this is a lazy port and all but the game is still great, even better (when you have the right pc to run it) than the console's version. The game works fine here and for alot of people I know with lower end PC. Get over it. Jesus.

Probably at Rockstar they don't think the same way, otherwise they wouldn't have published this bug ridden pot of crap just to see sales plummeting. I'm angry because I SUPPORT the industry but the industry doesn't support customers. Is it too hard to understand? Put your accusing finger to a better use, next time. I can suggest one.

 

Edit: and I would like to know about YOUR experience in the IT market... I know about piracy rates. I can see them with my eyes in the business environments. The company I work for chose a path I liked, and that is NEVER INSTALL, NEVER ENCOURAGE PIRACY, because this is risky both for the worker and for the customer. I don't have choices when it comes to installing "extra" licenses: I simply cannot do it. It may be harder for people and firms working honestly, but you can do it, and you have the advantages of not seeing people jailed. At home it can be completely different since no one's going to check and games are not productive means, but this doesn't change the reality: piracy is a problem, but not the problem which is going to destroy the software industry, or kill PC gaming. It's just an excuse people use when they run out of arguments for problems that are widely acknowledged by people who review stuff in their full rights with decent specs having bought the game. Even expert ones, even people who have seen more computers (both at home and at work) than you'll ever see in your entire life.

So I'm disgusting cus I have an opinion. About the IT comment... you really don't like to read properly. It was just an option, and I even said that I'm NOT stating that you are a liar, but you could be, because THIS IS THE INTERNET. Everyone could say that he's Bill Gates's brother, or something similar...

Right on!! Say it preacher!!! No really.. he's absolutly right.. I run it on quadcore 2.66ghz, 4GIG DDR3 RAM and a GTX280... And my baby runs like a charm on max!! Execpt for the draw distance, that one is at 50% Little dissappointed about the few clothes in the game since there's such a huge variaty with the peds clothes and some other bugs that prolly will get fixed next year.. Otherwise, GREAT GAME Rockstar!!!

Well, IGN first tested GTA IV PC on a Core 2 Extreme X9650 CPU, GeForce GTX 280 graphics card, and 3 GB of RAM, and this was Rockstar's rig for testing. IGN's very own test rig was a Core 2 Quad 2.40 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 768 MB GeForce 8800 GTX with Vista 32 and they were having slight performance issues at first.

The game's got performance and optimization issues sure, but that review was simply written by a complete moron. It's true, sorry to burst your bubble chaps....

 

How can you review the game on a pc that just meets the minimum requirements? And then say that that machine ran Bioshock effortlessly (an 18 month old game in a completely different genre) as a comparison point in the review?

 

Just goes to show the 'quality' of the 'review', which has about as much weight and credibility as a post on here....

And that was the funniest thing to hear him say with a serious look on his face.
