There are tons of people on these boards without the guts or determination to overclock their CPU and there are even those with QX9770s with factory 3.2GHz clocks. What a f*cking waste of a CPU and money that is. @ the OP: next time remember that the 4.0GHz club is for those with the hardware and knowledge how to get it there properly. Aim low to start with and then squeeze that thirty percent out of it gradually. Overheating is your only real enemy so monitor your temps a lot when OCing your rig and you can still do reasonable overclocks on standard CPU coolers just don't go mental. What? How can you give credits to a guy that overclock his CPU without reading any info about it? It's just plain stupid, overclocking is not about guts, when you're overclocking you should go slowly and secure with alot of testing so you don't damage your CPU. Also, I could care less about graphics and the like. I would still be pleased if it was just run on the SA engine. This port, not game, is broken. Get over it. I'm guessing... you f*cked your windows boot loader or bios with bad timings, tried to boot? ...thats also a hideously high OC of your cpu - what ever you do don't use the clear cmos jumper and power on your machine... making the connection while off is good enough, or just leave the battery out for a minute or so... besides sounds like you fried your cmos, you'll fix it... any mobo worth it's salt can recover from this -13th Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He added 1GHz more to it, i dont call that a little bit. You ust be dumb to go from 2.8 to 3.2 until 3.8, probably he had a standard cooler on it so it was like a time bomb. That was pretty dumb to overclock it with 1GHz. AMd showed once overclocking a phenom i thought to 7GHz, but they took a huge cooler too cool it and the system became fking unstable lol. Yuo are lucky that it isnt fried lol, could easily happen. I have overclocked by myself, but with small steps, i took my cpu to 3GHz and my GPU now has 7MHz more speed, if i wanted i would overclock my GPU to 3x its standard speed as when i have money i buy a new GPU. Get over it. yep..many many games have tweaks posted by people to get it to run better on machines that cant...hell 90% of them do. oblivion half life 2 warhammer supreme commander fallout 3 farcry farcry2 crysis just to name a few off the top of my head from the last 2-3 years..and all the way back to quake 1 and before with the first true 3d engine for FPS was people posting on forums on how to get more FPS to play smooth. and why do people insist it WONT run at all worth a sh*t on a good spec computer? is this became the bigfoot of GTA? people saying they have heard from their brothers best friend that people running at good speeds, but no actual people saying it first hand? Im not denying that there has been loads of people trying to tweak the game etc to get it to run, all i'm saying is this isnt exactly the first time its happened. When Oblivion came out a couple of years ago there was exactly the same problem, with people trying to tweak the game and do whatever it took to get it to run on their hardware (myself included). Im sure the same thing happened with Doom 3 and probably with many other titles aswell. Im not saying GTA 4 is perfect by any means, I'm just sick of people having a go at rockstar because they cant play it on their hardware. Look DOnt try and get more speed out of you PC for GTA IV by trying to Overclock, you may end up with no Gaming rig over Christmas Just Like me.
