cabbio540
Honestly, i dont know why people are bothering to help this guy. He overclocks his cpu to a silly amount, clearly has no idea what he is on about and then blames rockstar. The guys an idiot, let him suffer with his 'blown' computer. DML
Went and Overclocked my PC to run GTA IV. You are the one who overclocked, Rockstar did not force you to. Hell, Rockstar probably wouldn't even know how to do such a thing. If your computer couldn't run the game at a decent speed, you should've just waited for those "PCs of the future" like Rockstar told us to. bp2018
Go into the bios, reset to the default settings, DO NOT OVERCLOCK OR UNDERCLOCK FROM NOW ON. Shutdown the computer and leave it for 10 minutes, allow everything to return to room temperature and reboot, if it will not boot, go into the bios, set the dvd/cd drive to the first item in the boot priority, do a fresh windows install. If you dont set it to the first boot item it wont do jack all, again DO NOT OVER/UNDERCLOCK ANYTHING AGAIN. Once it is set as the first boot item, reboot with the windows CD in and reformat, if it will not work then you have likely damaged a component. When overclocking 100 - 200mhz increments followed by ATLEAST a 12hour run of prime 95 is recommended. I suggest you either do not attempt another over/underclock again, or read up on some SERIOUS information and watch some videos, DO NOT TRY AGAIN UNTIL YOUR COMPUTER IS OPERATIONAL, REGARDLESS. The only other thing IF all else fails, is to try it with one stick of ram in, i've never seen ram get fried from overclocking the CPU, but ive also never seen anyone do what you just did, also perhaps you messed about with more than you think, if your ram is fried windows has nothing to load into and wont boot. Good luck and dear god, don't do it again.
grand.theft.auto
Sorry mate, but it's your fault. The least you should have done was to read some proper guide on overclocking. you need to stress test your cpu to see if its stable but what you have done is FAIL. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE CORRECT THE TITLE. THNX I f*ckED MY PC BECAUSE I like to suck r* cock.
Cyc2u
Wow you cant jump up a whole ghz lol. Thats like going to the gym for the first time in your life and trying to benchpress 500 lbs. Youll pop a nut. Ouch! On the other hand though its a shame R* didnt release a NORMAL modern day game instead of that lame excuse about future gaming systems. Its like telling people with regular PCs that you have to OC or else you wasted your money on the game, since most places dont accept returns on PC games. So its partly R*s fault. He wouldnt feel the need to do something crazy and OC the living snot out of it if they released a normal game for the year 2008, instead of a game for the year 2013 when everyone will be playing something else. pinky
All credits to the OP, at least he gave it a shot. There are tons of people on these boards without the guts or determination to overclock their CPU and there are even those with QX9770s with factory 3.2GHz clocks. What a f*cking waste of a CPU and money that is. @ the OP: next time remember that the 4.0GHz club is for those with the hardware and knowledge how to get it there properly. Aim low to start with and then squeeze that thirty percent out of it gradually. Overheating is your only real enemy so monitor your temps a lot when OCing your rig and you can still do reasonable overclocks on standard CPU coolers just don't go mental.
