And to be honest if Rockstar know what they are doing they won't give an ETA neither. Since the attitude of alot of people here when the first patch got delayed even though Rockstar never gave a certain date was disgusting. Im surprised people are so surprised at these problems, GTA III, GTA VC and GTA SA were all buggy as f*ck crashed quite a bit. They could care less. And if anyone should really be fired it's whoever got the game released, and which ever people are the real cause of why the game is the way it is. If the CEO can say, "It looks and feels better than the console version", and it comes out the way it did. WELL THERE IS YOUR ANSWER! R103090 Posted December 24, 2008 Share Posted December 24, 2008 at this point i have lost all hope. i dont think any patch will completley fix this game. it might improve a couple things here and there, but at the end, the game will still be a mess. i mean, R* is tryin to hide the fact that they screwed up. they said that they were aware that a SMALL percentage of people (1%) were havin problems running the game. evry 1, includin R* themselves knows that this is straight up bullsh*t. they have shown no interest whatsoever to try to fix the game. the first patch released only screwed up the game even more by screwing up the camera every time a controller was plugged into the pc (excluding xbox360 controllers). if they really had an interest in fixing up the game, they would have first admitted that ALOT of people were havin problems, and would AT LEAST say that they were working on a second patch to address these issues. but no, nothing. they LIED sayin that very few people had problems, and havent mentioned a word of a second patch. i really hope iam wrong, but i dont think any patch will make this game work the way it should. i think they would have to rewrite the entire code for the game, and make a ton of changes to get this to work. hopefully iam wrong, but i highly doubt it. I have not been able to play because I drive like a drunken monkey with WASD and I am kbd/mouse only. Could a modder mod mouse steering into the game? Could it be tweaked? Otherwise, I'm not playing. If you have a suggestion (keep it nice fellas), let me know. Modders, I am depending on you to figure this because it looks like R* is not going to care. My specs: QX9650 3Ghz quad 8GB Ram DDR2 1066 HD4870X2 2GB Vista64 Will crossfire 2 HD4870X2 2GBs (have 2nd one on its way) and see if it is indeed just power driven (what the hell i gotta do? call NASA?). Problems: 1. Sometimes the game stays loading at cut-scenes and freezes. 2. Re-rendering textures (especially up close ones) when not in the camera's view. 3. Missing helicopter cooperative rotate control for analog axis game pads including 360. 4. Dynamic Shadows missing (tried all settings). 5. Sometimes invisible characters in cut-scenes. 6. Weird but rare missing right audio channel then normalizes. 7. Some frame rate drop and lag problems occur with no peak cpu or gpu. 8. Minimum requirements is false. 9. R* have had 8 MONTHS to port this game to PC!!!!!!!!!!!! and what have they succeed in doing? f*cked up a good game (s/p for me, apart from some texture loss in places, it ran fine) The multiplayer is a whole different story...............the waiting in lobbys is bullsh*t, there are too many tossers playing the game!! why no DEDICATED servers? and when you try to alt-tab out of the game to do something else if you die.........your kicked for a slow PC!!!!!! The "social club" site WTF!! the message wall, friends section, all "coming soon" maybe with the 2nd patch???.........I think not The video editor is still sh*t unless you use fraps to save vids and then edit ( I have given up on it now, I'm bored of the whole sorry saga) So I will try to play some multiplayer over the xmas period but will be looking for a game that is supported properly (BF2 is STILL being patched!!!) Ram consumption goes through the roof though the game exe isn't taking much over a gig. As has been pointed out on numerous occassions; support does not mean patching. Plenty of modern games are supported and have significant outstanding issues that will never be patched. It takes a minute to post a message saying that another patch is planned. The only really honest reason to not do this is that there is no such patch planned. The other possible explaination is that a patch is being worked on, but Rockstar are worried about the share price taking a hit if they actually admit the scale of the problems. I personally don't think they're analysing the situation right if this is the case: the share price will rise if sales rise, sales will only rise if a proper patch is confirmed. But they think confirming a patch will hit the shares rather than help them. It hasn't dawned on them that their behaviour since the beginning of december has been such a detrimental factor in this. The way things are going now I personally give Rockstar one last chance to improve my experience with a second patch. Seeing the different opinions here, I too am wondering if it is false hope. But I quess if they are really working their rear ends off to fix this it won't be an overnight walk in park. If they fail to improve my experience, this was the last game from Rockstar I bought. Be prepared to be utterly frustrated with anything coming out of Rockturds as they're making their money out of console games. It was predicted a couple few years back, that Microsoft is purposefully fcking up pc gaming to generate console money. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I'm starting to believe it now. They had to know this game was a mess. "Ok package it up for the holiday sales people!" "Oh it's fcked up...oh well, more hard-on sales for the holidays!" "Intel kickbacks, Microsoft kickbacks, AMD/Nvidia kickbacks!" "We're in fat city folks!" We need a guy like Niko....not for gaming, but to settle the score. This is turkey dinner that the fat cats are eating and all we're given are the leftovers. Don't bother buying more expensive hardware, pc gaming is being raped. DO IT, i have GTA 4 on it's own hardrive nothign else on it and wen't to defrag ALL the gta files were fragmented since doing a defrag and updating .net its much more playable, i still get a little jitter and pop ups happen when changing island but other than that i can't complain until they start patching it, it's not perfect but is a darn sight better than my xbox version.
