The first patch screwed over the sound after a benchmark which is very inconvenient and I even suffer from the memory leak sometimes now and framerate is more unstable than before. The game hasn't had a single problem and it looks stunning. Because I'm in South Africa and the internet is sh*t I haven't been able to test the online play, but LAN was awesome. It's ok mate, let it all out Personally I don't think we'll hear any news of a patch until way after Xmas. I mean, R* will be filling up on mince pies and booze at their xmas and new year's parties at this time of year. Once we're into January and they're all fat and hung-over we might, just might see an "update" (improved darts physics etc). Here's hoping anyway.. I do software coding at my job, no where NEAR as complicated as a 3d game, and to trace down a bug that effects EVERYONE takes days, much less if we have one customer with a specific bug we need to find, that can take a week. and this is all on rack servers that are strictly controlled on what hardware it contains and what software its allowed to have it on, even the specfic VERSION of those softwares that are allowed. Now combine that code scanning and fixing with rockstars obstacle of literally 1000's of hardware combination's that the scripting may bug out on, (not to include god knows how many programs running at the same time on said machine that can cause problems) and try to trace down the problems. R* are a bunch of fu**ing liars!!! they lied about the minimum system requirements. i know because i passed those requirements, and the game is still completley unplayable. if i would have known this, i would have never thrown away my cash like that. the only reason they lied about the requirements was so more people could buy the game and they could make more money. BASTARDS!!!! this game is so badly optimized that sometimes it runs pretty smooth (although not as smooth as it should, by pretty smooth i mean 25 fps at most) and other times, it doesnt run at all!!. wat pisses me of the most is that during random times, it could be from the first 3 minutes of gameplay to the next hour of gameplay, the game enters wat i call "unplayable mode". it goes from running at an acceptable level (by this i mean 20 fps at most) to an unplayable level, where the game lags so damn much that iam forced to exit it, because it becomes completely unplayable!!! this happens wen i run it at high graphic settings, or low graphic settings. to me, this is wat annoys me the most, because wen iam in the middle of a mission, i am forced to quit and restart the game. and a lot of the times, (and by a lot i mean 85% of the time) wen i restart the game it goes into "unplayable mode" again, and again ,and again!!! even after restarting my pc. i have done every trick in the book to make this game playable, and still no success. this goes to R*: i really hope that your company goes bankrupt, and that u have to fire every single one of your employees!!!! i hope that u owe so much money to people that u will need to sell your 200,000 dollar cars, your mansions, and all your dam possesions!!!! i hope u loose everything u have and have to go live under a bridge, i really do. this is the LAST time i will EVER buy a game from your POS company!!!!!!! instead of swimming in STOLEN cash, u should get your asses up, and start making as many patches as neeeded in order to make this damn game playable. the only game that actually takes advantage of quad core proccessors is this one. but not because of its amazing graphics, but because of how sh*tty the coders are!!! Besides the joke: I have no idea when theres another patch. Also all you can expect is a fixed controler system or something like that. People should stop thinking about a patch wich changes the game engine completely... cause it will not happen. You will probably need to reprogram the whole game to get it running better on PC. bp2018 Posted December 23, 2008 Share Posted December 23, 2008 Second patch WAS confirmed by Rockstar, they are CONTINUING TO DEVELOP AND SUPPORT the pc version, but no info on what that means, might be a patch to add in colourful text filters for uploaded videos aswell as pink fingerless gloves for multiplayer. Even though they didn't put an OFFICIAL page or link saying "SECOND PATCH UNDER DEVELOPMENT" they have confirmed one is being done, but it might be the last patch made, and may not fix up 90% of issues. Of course patches also get pulled all the time, may end up saying "sorry we're not doing one now" With Saints Row 2 on its way in january I wouldn't expect much after that to be honest, hopefully they get one out before then eh. Show me one place where Rockstar has announced the first patch. They never even acknowledged its existence, no official statement, no official thread for feedback about the patch. Their "Help with Grand theft Auto IV PC" thread still says : Patch Is On The Way We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows – Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval." In reality, as mentioned above, it is the Holidays. R* work long hours. They are dedicated. They too deserve a break. Remember that they are also gamers and want the best game possible. Would you want them to slave away 24/7 until their eyes bleed to release a patch simply because "I want it now!!!" or would you prefer them to have a break and return to the game refreshed and with fresh eyes to see problems they may have overlooked from exhuastion. The game runs great on my rig and all of my freinds rigs so I don't see a great need for a patch. Only problem I find is sometimes I get a bit of pop-up but nothing major. Perhaps if you can't run it as you'd anticipated or are having problems getting desired frame rate it may be technical issues, Or perhaps it is the universe trying to tell you that you could fulfil your life's potential moreso if you weren't stuck staring at a computer screen in a dark room away from the real world and your real friends. If you are over the age of consent and still a virgin this particularly applies to you. Choose your priorities. Life is too short. If you are angry at R* because "they stoled my monies" perhaps you need to focus less on gaming and more on a career or way of making money so upgrading is such a pipe dream. Perhaps if you can't run it as you'd anticipated or are having problems getting desired frame rate it may be technical issues, Or perhaps it is the universe trying to tell you that you could fulfil your life's potential moreso if you weren't stuck staring at a computer screen in a dark room away from the real world and your real friends. If you are over the age of consent and still a virgin this particularly applies to you. Choose your priorities. Life is too short. If you are angry at R* because "they stoled my monies" perhaps you need to focus less on gaming and more on a career or way of making money so upgrading is such a pipe dream. Unfortunately, in life, nothing comes easy. Complaining rarley gets you anywhere. Hard work, patience and experience does. /rant No one here is "whinging".
