but the main point is the game got released in a dire state for some it's happened can't change that so you just have to wait, i think it's very un reasonable to think rockstar should work through x-mas and new year, try getting a response from another company during this period.. you won't.

THIS IS THE FIRST R* GAME I HAVE EVER PIRATED and the only other games in general i have are day of the tenticle, which i also bough but lost, i was going to buy it until i read about the problems and read all the angry people shouting at r* so i d/l to see if it worked on my pc, now it does im going out to buy it. If anything the trolls complaining and blowing things out of proportion are causing the demise of pc gaming by your standards.

I like the game but the whole performance thing is annoying as crap. I don't have a top of the line system but it's decent; 3.2Ghz, 4gb ram, 512mb Nvidia 8600 GTS. I have to turn off shadows, lower all the numbers, etc. I can run Fallout 3 with max settings, almost max with Crysis and they run terrific. I wouldn't mind lowering the resolution to be able to bump something else up, but when I lowered it, it went into windowed mode.

For what it is worth, I am running this game at 16xx resolution and on a Core 2 Duo e6320 (1.86ghz), hd 3850, and 2 gigs ram, it runs WAY better than any crybaby post I have read here, and my motherboard is cheap, and my GFX card, the HD 3850, is AGP! Crybabies just don't take care of their systems or something, this game runs on bare minimum without lag. I'm living proof

 

And you know that "PC vs Xbox video" on game trailers? Yea, f*ck them. They are lying sacks of sh*t. They did the SAME thing to pump xbox sales when the PS3 version, as we now see when compared in the latest stuff. Their specs far outweigh mine, and yet they had frame stutter, they are lying.

It's the DOS prompt that loads it plus the fact that under-clocking sometimes can increase performance which creates the suspicions of an emulation or compatibility layer being used to make it run. This might not be a PC game running on a PC, but a console game running on an emulator running on a PC.

 

We can't confirm or refute this without more information though and Rockstar are silent.

I am absolutely staggered that anyone in their right mind would even think this is the 360 version running on an "emulator". I mean seriously are people that misinformed about technology. Let's just look at the recommended specs to run a playstation TWO emulator shall we :-

 

Recommended Specs: (For reasonable performance in many games, but not all)

AMD64 X2 or Intel Core 2 Duo E6600+ (Multi Threading is supported in PCSX2)

512-1024MB of RAM (more RAM allows for VM mode to be stable)

Pixel Shader 2.0 supporting card (recommended GeForce 6600-8800 or equivalent ATi card)

 

So to emulate a console that has 32mbs of ram and runs at 300mhz we need a dual core 2,400mhz processor, at least 512mbs of ram and a GPU probably about 10 - 15 times better than the PS2.

 

Now the PS3 is probably about 10 times more powerful than the PS2 which would make the Xbox 360 roughly 10 times more powerful. The technology DOES NOT EXIST to emulate the 360, too even think it does is absolutely staggeringly ignorant. Let me put it another way if this is the 360 version running on an emulator then Rockstar Toronto are quite possible the greatest programmers ever too grace this planet and they should get a Nobel award for what they have done.

 

It is very simple why the game is not as optimised as it should be, all Rockstar did was take the console code recompile it, tidy it up and then shove it on the PC. Now due to the innate differences between console cpu's and PC cpu's this means the game doesn't run as well as it COULD on the PC if they did it from the ground up. But to go around spouting that this is an emulator running the game is just frankly bullsh*t beyond belief.

Nothing wrong with my interpretation of the law, when you paid for the game you paid for a licence to use the game. You then asked for and were given a refund which means you rescinded your right to use that software. Therefore you are now using a program that you do not have a licence to use. It's pretty simple really when you think about it, but then you seem to like stealing stuff so what do you care.

 

As for me getting a real job and throwing my money away ? I do have a real job thank you very much and I do have to watch every penny I have. I have been playing GTA 4 for 3 weeks solidly every single day and enjoyed every last minute of it. It sounds to me as if you are doing the same as well yet you feel no need to pay for something you have no problem with using. It doesn't look to me as if you are "protesting" about GTA 4 it looks to me as if you want to play GTA 4 but you don't want to pay your way.

PC companies have been slapping bullsh*t requirements on their boxes for years. Dear god anyone would think that what GTA 4 has done is anything NEW, it isn't the requirements are pretty much BULLsh*t on every single game. As for your "all legal bullsh*t I agreed to upon installation whent out the windows" erm no it didn't you OWNED a licence to play the game which you game UP. I am absolutely staggered that anyone in their right mind would even think this is the 360 version running on an "emulator". I mean seriously are people that misinformed about technology. Let's just look at the recommended specs to run a playstation TWO emulator shall we :-

 

Recommended Specs: (For reasonable performance in many games, but not all)

AMD64 X2 or Intel Core 2 Duo E6600+ (Multi Threading is supported in PCSX2)

512-1024MB of RAM (more RAM allows for VM mode to be stable)

Pixel Shader 2.0 supporting card (recommended GeForce 6600-8800 or equivalent ATi card)

 

So to emulate a console that has 32mbs of ram and runs at 300mhz we need a dual core 2,400mhz processor, at least 512mbs of ram and a GPU probably about 10 - 15 times better than the PS2.

 

Now the PS3 is probably about 10 times more powerful than the PS2 which would make the Xbox 360 roughly 10 times more powerful. The technology DOES NOT EXIST to emulate the 360, too even think it does is absolutely staggeringly ignorant. Let me put it another way if this is the 360 version running on an emulator then Rockstar Toronto are quite possible the greatest programmers ever too grace this planet and they should get a Nobel award for what they have done.

 

It is very simple why the game is not as optimised as it should be, all Rockstar did was take the console code recompile it, tidy it up and then shove it on the PC. Now due to the innate differences between console cpu's and PC cpu's this means the game doesn't run as well as it COULD on the PC if they did it from the ground up. But to go around spouting that this is an emulator running the game is just frankly bullsh*t beyond belief.

Sorry to burst your bubble but everyone knows and has known even before it came out that it is a port.

The window is related to securom end of story, it comes up with fallout 3 too if I remember correctly. So does that mean there is secretly a 360 emulator that ALL developers are using then
