Crysis sold about 2 million total, Crytek announced going multiplatform and blame piracy but i'll tell you that for the specs the game required at the time it didnt suprise me that the sales sucked and the same is happening with IV PC too, i think IV on the PC could (or should) have been a great success.

I think that is a worrying thing for the poll to be portraying. Imagine if developers who actually care about the PC platform (like Valve and Bethesda etc) read that result, and then say "Gee!, those PC gamers mustn't care about sh*t performance and dodgy ports. The fact that anyone from rock star would come here and acknowledge the problems of the game seems like they are controlled pretty well, You know the iron hand of the major game industry they could take this site down in minutes if they felt it was bashing gta in any way shape or forum, They probably get no money from rock star for doing all this to support there game but rock star still has a hand in this site since they are pretty much breaking a crap load of copy right laws. I have pop-ups and other technical problems, but.......I DON'T CARE!!! I LOVE THE GAME!!!! ITS F**KIN' A GREAT GAME!!!! I am a GTA fan since GTA: VICE CITY, and I will stay with GTA till I die. I want to play GTA 4, and so I play it no matter what!!!

i have seen a lot of his post and pmed him. he just a really big fan of pc gaming. rockstar or not. also this is the Internet. even if they did shut down this site there will be complaints and email's and funny hitler videos coming form all corners of the net. also rocksatr tying to stop them would even give them whose press.

This has nothing to do with being a casual gamer or a super nerd. People like to play games that are fully developed and ready to play. What kind of fool would pay full price for a product you refer to as 'still in progress'.

BF2 did not have as many far spread problems as this game does. Its rare that any PC games do not need or get patched at some point, even if thats simply to address balancing in a game as opposed to graphical errors and performance. Id challenge anyone to find a forum for a game where someone is not having performance issues at some point, that is the bitter pill to swallow when it comes to PC gaming, those who cant deal with that should be on consoles only. This is different, I dont remember the last time, if any, that a game had so many problems effecting so many people except for Elder Scrolls Oblivion that is, which incidentely took them a long while to sort out. Its all very well saying "give them some time" when by the time its fixed and you're able to play it you can find GTA4 in the bargain bin of your game store for about 5£!!!!!!!!!!!!! In that instance all people have done is paid Rockstar an additional 25£ to get stressed out, angry and sit reading and posting on forums for 6 months, money well spent....... I dont think you need a degree to know the answer to that one personally.

The fact is ALL PC gamers expect games to have some issues, it goes with the territory, as I just stated, if someone cant deal with that - get a console. But no one should pay for a piece of software and through complete stupidity and rushing for the xmas sales, or any sales for that matter, have to put up with all these problems. And to release a patch that adds problems as opposed to fix em, well, that was just a "keep em quiet" effort.

Im glad to hear that the sales on the PC version have slumped, its probably the only thing that will kick em up the arse loosing profits. I am a GTA fan, and so I DO care about GTA, but I DO NOT care about Rockstar.

 

There were many mods made for VC and SA, and they were not made by Rockstar... They kept me busy till the release of the next GTA. When GTA SA was release, I had a crappy PC, and so it lagged like hell, but I played it cause I liked the game. Now that GTA 4 is released, I am playing it no matter what, and waiting passiently for future mods. If R* will get bankrupt in the next 10 years, I will still be playing GTA 4.....(modded maybe). In Ukraine and Russia, there were so many mods released (and still getting released) for San Andreas, and no Rockstar help was/is needed. GTA Vice City was changed into GTA Vice City Deluxe, which had modern cars, no bugs, and a lot of extra features. No Rockstar work, only modders, and people who cared about GTA. In Ukraine for example, this mod was far more popular than the original Vice City. Maybe even though the mods are based on the original GTA, but now that many GTAs are released, it is possible to make whole new games.....really!!!!! Modders put more work into GTA than Rockstar, but its still GTA, and GTA IS MY FAVORITE GAME!!!!!!!!!!

 

I am not a really good english writer, cause its far not my native language, so I will state my point to this, and my previous thread: GTA = GOOD!!!!!!! Only GTA, and I am NOT talking about Rockstar!

 

 

 

PS: By saying "IN PROGRESS" I meant that GTA 4 didn't get to its fully developed state, but it is going to.....even if R* doesn't release a patch, the modders will. I am sure, that nobody will leave the game to die. (Cause R* will sure not help it live, cause there is curently no sign of that)

Im going to play this game no matter what......

I won't need to go and buy a whole new game, but just going to do download a patch... - You word it like its a massive inconvenience - A WHOLE new game, OMG the hassle and trouble thats going to be for me, I mean, theres nothing more difficult than popping into the store when passing is their.....

The POINT im making Vasilyrud which clearly went straight over the top of your head is this :

 

You have paid 30/40 bucks for this game, full price, at release.

 

You have had your initial enjoyment (first time playing through) tarnished by all the problems that this poor release is blighted with, and dont try telling me BS that your not bothered by any of that and no matter how badly it plays your happy with it coz thats just utter garbage unless your some kind of idiot.

 

Once fixed and working properly, which probably wont be for quite a few months, you will have played it through how many times........ It wont ever be the same as when you first played it which is when a game is ultimately exciting, like good games are the first time you play em. So when your able to finally run it, how it should have been in the first place it wont be the same. Its kinda like watching a movie that you really looked forwards to on a really bad pirate filmed from the back of the cinema over and over, and THEN going to see it on the big screen - All the surprises are done and it just doesnt have the same impact as it should have.

 

I on the other hand, as I got a refund, still have all that enjoyment to come, if and when fixed. I will get to play it as it should have been in the first place, no missing textures, no lagging and low FPS or silly controller issues to annoy me, and to boot, by that time it will be available at a seriously reduced price.

 

The other point I was making regarding GTA5, which also went over your head based on the comment you made is that if your soooooo happy to let some corporate pigs dupe you with any crap they wish to release and your happy to part with your money at ful price for it, then you might as well give Rockstar 30 bucks for the next release now, whats the difference.

 

Again this totally underlines the reasons why corporates can get away with releasing any old crap, and good stuff in any state they feel like without the fear of too much retribution.

Good work Vasilyrud, and all those like you. You truly are the saviours of corporate pigs, but the the funniest thing of all is, you don't even realise it.

it doesn't happen very often and to my knowledge its the first time r* has released a game in such a sh*tty state but for me this is the final straw for me with rockstar (for other reasons also) after being loyal since the very first gta this was the first gta i pirated, just to see if it works and it does on my pc now i've fettled with it so i will buy it now.

 

but the main point is the game got released in a dire state for some it's happened can't change that so you just have to wait, i think it's very un reasonable to think rockstar should work through x-mas and new year, try getting a response from another company during this period.. you won't.
